The Maids have added comedy to their concerts. When they opened for Guns N'Roses they sounded great in an arena and played hard rock. They are doing a tenth anniversary tour next year.
One of the most difficult thing for them, was there was no audience just the staff. The entire concert was reposted for a while, they are awesome. Kanami does all of the guitar on the recordings. She teaches Miku her parts for the live performances. Okay one more time, Gacharic Spin - Instrumental; The guitarist is Tomo Oz, considered one of Japan's top guitarist. Glad you enjoyed this, their talent is off the charts.
I will say the From Now On MV is better audio quality than the audio only you saw. Has a lot more punch. Plus it is a cool MV. I would enjoy watching you react to it.
I believe that the Japanese language interchanges the pronunciation of "L" and "R" depending on the sentence structure. Saiki thus says "bleth" instead of "breath"... but the context is obvious...at their recent US Tour, when they spoke English to the audience they were spot on in their pronunciation of L and R. They apparently took English lessons...This shows how much they care for their fans.
The full bodied acoustic guitars are like that (no cut-away) to stop players from getting too twiddly diddly when playing them and keeping it clean and simple. Akane is using Hot rods or Cluster sticks.
The KANAMINCHO don’t need no stinking cutaway! Acoustic guitars come in many sizes; dreadnaught is the largest. The word that made you laugh was the exclamation, “what?” “Breath,” in katakana comes out as “bu-re-su.” You should watch the entire Christmas acoustic concert, filmed overlooking Yokohama Bay. Comparing the acoustic versions to the originals highlights KANAMI’s strength as arranger and the power of their rhythm section. This whole Christmas acoustic concert was magnificent! Re-composition, arrangements, setting and pure sound entertainment.The Maids probably won't have the time this Christmas, but will hold out for another performance in future. Pure magic.

I didn't know about them till someone in the comment section mentioned it when this video first came out. I looked them up on amazon to see what they were about. I wish the camera stayed on Kanami during her "get down section" to see her work the fret board without the cutaway like you were talking about. I just wish MIISA would play an acoustic bass....
You have the acoustic guitars reversed; the one with a narrow waist is an orchestra or jumbo model (Martin O, OO, and OOO models, or Gibson J-200). Miku is playing a Zemaitis jumbo with a heart-shaped sound hole. The one with the wider waist is a dreadnought, a style invented by C.F. Martin back in the early 20th century and copied by many others (Martin D-18 for example, or Gibson J-45). Kanami is playing a Yairi Alverez dreadnought. It is a very high end guitar. Cutaways on acoustics seem to be a very personal thing. The guy I play with prefers a cutaway and I think all of his guitars are cutaways. He has three Taylors. I'm jealous of your Taylor, they are very nice guitars. None of my acoustic guitars are cutaway, I have a couple of jumbos and three dreadnoughts. I rarely go past the 14th fret so it doesn't bother me.
They performed this concert Christmas day of last year at the Grand Oriental Minato-mirai, in Yokohama, Japan. The Grand Oriental is a rental venue for holding wedding receptions, proms, business meeting and dinners and stuff like that. As far as I know, a dreadnaught is the full size with no cutaway. Acoustic guitars with a cutaway do have a different resonance that can be detected by your ears. Not so much in the tone but in the volume. The Ladies guitars have piezo bridges but they also set up a mic for the soundhole of the guitar as well to balance out the sound. Akane is using "Rod Sticks" instead of normal drumsticks, plus she isn't using her full strength in her playing. And I wish they had extended the breakdown section at least another line or two. And if you don't mind searching for it, the whole concert is online.
Nice review. We're still waiting for them to release the whole concert on DVD (not sure why this hasn't happened already). I see that others have already mentioned the type of sticks Akane is using on the drums. Looking for music around the world really opens one's mind to all the difference there are in the types of music out there and to cast that aside because of a language difference is to miss out on the wonders that are out there.

Yeah, I hear you on negativity being the coin of the realm in the 21st century. Too many people trying to sell outrage for profit. Sad thing is, it works. There was even some idiot here on UA-cam trying to explain to anyone who'd listen that BAND-MAID were talentless and they only had a following because people have an Asian fetish. There's other acoustic songs by BAND-MAID to be found around the internet, like 'Puzzle' or 'Anemone'. There might even be some other "unauthorized" songs from this performance here on UA-cam, if you look hard enough. And congrats. I see you finally picked up a PS5.

Regarding the language barrier you talked about. I was a fan of Dimmu Borgir even when they sang only in Finnish(?). They later switched to English like other European "underground" acts. No discredit to them, but Band Maid is willing to have folks come to them where they're at

I think it's important to remember Saiki and most Japanese have major issues with the English language, therefore it's not so much an accent but a lack of English language usage coupled with non native english teachers, there are dozens of improper english pronounciations scattered through all their songs, it's that courage you talked about to just have ago, thats all the more reason i love BAND MAID.

I can't tell you how difficult it is to change a pronunciation you've learned for decades. As a German, I've been speaking English for over fifty years, so the different-sounding vowels are completely normal. Pleasant side effect of vowels that sound the same: I can pronounce Japanese words reasonably well.
And this is what I do not understand from all you english speaking people. I mean, true the lyrics are sure important to a song, but you can also enjoy a song without understanding it. Even I'm not that bad in English ( German Guy ), I barely understand the most engish lyrics. Was there a barrier for me to still love music with english lyrics? Defnitely not. And that is what you guys might have to learn, that bands are important and should get more attention although you cannot understnad the lyrics. Rejecting Band Maid (or any other band) on the basis of language is idiotic. [Ask these people if they enjoy Rammstein]. Do they have problems with Spanish-speaking acts (don't listen to The Warning -- they might break into Spanish lyrics at any second)? When I first started occasionally listening to Band Maid in the latter part of 2015, I obviously noticed that most of their lyrics were in Japanese, but it wasn't concerning (was I really too lazy to look-up the [probably partially-botched] lyric translations on the Net?). After about three listens, the fact that Saiki and Miku were singing largely in Japanese wasn't even (consciously) on my mind. You may say to these people: What if you were invited to an international competition (about whatever) in Dresden, Naples, Tehran or Osaka, and your work was ignored (even derided) because you spoke primarily in English, and were from America. Would that be fair? Would you do something about it? Wouldn't you expect them to get past language, race, ethnicity and nationality, and to judge your work solely on the basis of the imagination, planning and skill that it demonstrated? If that argument doesn't work -- and these people are from the South -- ask them how they feel about Northerners who immediately ascribe certain behaviors, beliefs and intelligence to people as soon as they find out that they are from the South. Is that right? Acceptable? Will they stay silent in the face of this prejudice? (If what those type of Northerners were thinking -- and saying -- then OK, maybe I should have kicked-out the two members of my wedding party who were Southerners). Come on, people. Band Maid is talented, creative, charming and easy on the eyes. Since they went to Pony Canyon, virtually all of these videos have English subtitles. There are lyrics sheets. What does it take to get you involved in a very good thing? A huge tip of the hat to Japan and...Band Maid forever!!!

Yep "Rods", thin strips of bamboo that are bound together so they give a lighter hit than solid sticks :)

Yes, Kanami's playing a Dreadnaught. But I'd say Miku's playing what would be considered a Parlor guitar with the smaller size.

That is also my favorite section, it has mass potential to be one long extended jam during live shows.
