Ultra Instinct is like a mix of technique and state of being. You can it on and off like a form when you fully get used, but you can refine it like a technique. But it's not as easily attainable as a form, which is why it's more of a state of being. It's canon that the Angels like Whis and Vados are constantly in Ultra Instinct, like Goku and Gohan were constantly in Super Saiyan in the Cell saga.
4:26 When Goku does Instant Transmission he dissapears INSTANTLY no one can sense it by reflex because it is literally impossible even Beerus was caught off guard by that move, Caulifla just predicted where he was going to teleport.
In Dragon Ball GT, Super 17 predicted SSJ4 Goku everytime he used instant transmission. But there was an actual explanation. But right there, it just happened. Like what?
Gotta love that one Metal Cooler moment from the movies that continues to ruin power scalers' days, where Goku used Instant Transmission and M-Cooler caught up to him for a multipunch fight in that Instant...
Great reaction love the energy as always! Also the manga had Gohan fight Kefla until they were both exhausted and end up eliminating each other, so Goku turning Kefla to a highlight clip was something no one expected
Ultra Instinct is like when you master a skill. Like when learning a skill we have to practice on and on sometimes with guidance and when we master it we do the skill without any thought whatsoever.
From what I saw in the Jiren fight, he has a radius of awareness. As to the nature of that, from his time on Yardrat he learned Instant Transmission which requires superior energy control. That training is what unlocked Ultra Instinct. While God Ki requires holding the energy back and not leaking it to the aura, ultra instinct seems to be his awareness of the slightest movement within the radius of his ki aura. Goku is powerful like Akira but in full control of his ki. When it shows the glitter background and the light blue sphere around Goku, the sphere is his ki awareness and the glitter is his perception of air molecules vibrating and photons being photons. So it's like cat whiskers and using your aura like a radar tripwire.
That’s awesome! But then at the same time the reason why it’s so hard to master is that conscious thought will kick you out of that state almost immediately. So how Goku was able to talk in that state is beyond me.
Manga readers didn't know about it. Mostly because the manga was after the anime. I know that's weird but it is how it is. At the same time. Even if the manga had been ahead of the anime. Manga readers still wouldn't have known jack shit. Because of how different it is. And I don't know if the manga downplayed kefla or overhyped gohan cause mann. Gohan fucking around and finding out against kefla to the point where they knock each other out. Shit feels rigged man. At the same time. They def gave Master Roshi some secret sauce or some shit cause man was the FIRST person to land a hit on Jiren. The manga is a WILD ride.
Well for one Gohan was in fact in his Ultimate form when he fought Kefla and Master Roshi never landed a hit on Jiren at all he just dodged some of his attacks until Jiren easily knocked him out of the ring
I saw it coming from the moment she was first shown on screen. The sound of the "hmmmm" line in TFS's Broly movie special was in my head that instant. The UI and MUI remind of that moment in the cage or a ring... when a boxing/kickboxing background fighter just enter the flow with head movement and it all comes together for a moment. I had it happen to me in sparring ONCE in my life. You say to yourself after 3-5 mins of sparring - "Okay, he's about to xy into yx followed by a zx ... " and you just see it. You saw it in 7 outta 10 exchanges and you just get into the pocket, dance the mf off and hit that clean inside-outside 1-2 as you exit to your preferred side. Its over exaggerated to the extreme in DBS but I always saw it as a reference to that real life moment. This is referenced again when Vegeta closes the distance on Jiren, with his own "flavour".
4:34 my favorite iteration of instant transmission is in the the Revenge of Cooler movie with the Spongebob: "Everything is chrome in the future" look. When Goku Insta so does Cooler who catches him like they're in a different dimension.
Fun fact! The anime was actually ahead of the Manga at this point in time! It was ahead of the manga for a majority of Super’s lifespan. In the Manga, Gohan is actually the one who takes out Kefla
the explanation for how goku does all thison low battery is that since hes mastered the non god ki formss of super saiyan they dont take any stamina to use, ssg(red hair) has regenerative and restorative properties, he was in thsi form for a decent portion of the fight when he was dominating the fight so he got rest during that period with expedited stamina and health restoration, him turning blue was only just beginning to tap into his stamina whivch by this point had regenerated quite a bit, in the manga they alternated between ssg and ssgss(blue) in order to minimize the stamina drain and ultilize the different perks of each form, in the anime which did not show said switches frequently and also did not contain this fight included the god form in the kefla fight to show that there was tactical usage of the form in the top. also shown with hit goku vs dyspo fight. hes not at peak performance but he is marginally les drained than he was when the fight began, allowing him to perform these extra feats of extreme power and eventually restoring his stamina to the point he can enter ultra instinct by the end of it
(Around 14:52) The manga was actually a fair bit different from the anime in general, iirc (and it has been a while) there was some wild differences like Roshi hitting as close to Ultra Instinct a human could go and "fights" Jiren for a short bit, Mystic Gohan is the one to fight Kefla, things like Blue Kaioken and Vegeta's Evolution Blue just aren't a thing, the list goes on.
Loved the reaction! Also really like your take on how ultra instinct works, because yeah your right people miss all the time, but people are often left more open when it comes to UI dodges. Personally I think this will be my new head canon, but in reality I think it may actually just be a way they show a complete speed gap on the show. Goku vs racoom I’m pretty sure went very similar. But I don’t think jiren was ever caught completely off guard after his attacks. It was more goku finding openings than jiren putting the full weight behind a miss.
I love your reactions, you always come with the fire the truth that nerd talk and enjoyment. Ultra Instinct Omen & Mastered is both a Technique to Angels, Gods & Mortals. It is also a transformation to mortals. Transformation Requirements: 1) Eye color change. 2) Aura color change. 3) Hair color change. All that is needed is for a transformation is 2/3. Ultra Instinct Omen Goku; 1)Eye color grey. 2) Aura color blue. 3) Hair color black. 2/3. Ultra Instinct Mastered Goku; 1) Eye color grey. 2) Aura color Blue, White, Purple. 3) Hair color white. Grey when powered down. 3/3. Gohan In The Buu Arc; 1) Eye color black. 2) Aura color white. 3) Hair color black. 0/3. This shows Gohan is not in a transformed state. In the anime it does show Gohan‘s eyecolor change to light green. However it shows his eyecolor return back to his normal color black. Showing a failed attempt to transform into a super Saiyan because all of his inner potential was unlocked in his base form. For those who are unfamiliar, a white aura color for a Saiyan is a normal for a Saiyan in their base form. The Earthling Z fighters also have white aura’s. As does Piccolo.
Kefla’s final attack was really smart because you can’t fly in the tournament so getting caught in the air should be undodgeable because who the fuck surfs on an energy wave
Yeah, Instant Transmission is the only true teleportation in the series besides KaiKai, which is a move employed EXCLUSIVELY by Kais. Even Beerus isn't allowed to use it/is unable to. It's why you need to feel energy to use it, you lock into the energy of a person and move using that as a waypoint. But the movement is instant, and there's no path that can be followed by someone tracing your movements. You'll just *be there* and baffle the fuck out of everyone.
9:30 Transformations are a biological trait. Not some power level required power. You hear them saying I'm low on stamina, I can't transform, never I'm low on Ki, I can't transform.
I am somehow... confirmed, and a word youtubde dubsn't like that might mean the opposite, that we were given a sincere observation of this event. The rest? I always thought of UI being like the anime version of being in the zone. That state of mind and zone. Like moving without thinking about it which is something in real life that is possible, just this is clearly an anime so it's going to be exaggerated but honestly, I know a turtle from Nickolodian's 2012 TMNT show that did this and his name Is Mikey.
Ultra instinct lets the body move on its own. Without it, your reaction speed is limited to you seeing or sensing the attack, then sending nerve signals to make an appropriate action against the attack. In high speed battles like this, there is a clear gap between nanosecond reaction speed and 0s reactionspeed.
Ok so honestly the Goku black Arc is actually my favorite arc because it is the only one with actual story and plot where it's everything else is just win this fight win this fight win this fight. Like yeah I love the fighting boy the entirety of the DBS story is basically non-existent. Like I was literally thinking the other day you can remove Vegeta from the entirety of DBS and say he's out doing something and literally the entirety of the story would not have changed because there was no actual plot in DBS. So personally I like that the Goku black Arc was drawn out specifically because it was the only arc that actually had story. Also I believe that the reason that Goku was able to go SSB while being on low battery mode is basically because SSB became the super Saiyan form of DBS. like super saiyan blue became the basic mainline transformation if we are being honest.
But if UI isn’t a form, how does he get stronger than he is when he’s in Blue? I think there’s a UI form and MUI form but the skill can be used outside of those forms like in the Granola arc
It's not your show brother. You can't tell these people how their powers in their world works. The only thing you should be doing is explaining how and that is very easy when you go thru the energy lesson with Gohan and Videl. Of course anger was the emotional trigger but becoming Super Saiyan is easy once you know the biological aspect of it.

That final fight with kefla, she was the final boss but unfortunately, goku had completed his side quests by then, it was wraps after that. 🫡

In Dragon Ball GT, Super 17 predicted SSJ4 Goku everytime he used instant transmission. But there was an actual explanation.
