And to address the "where are they now", majority are druggies or some sort of 9-5 unskilled workers; or on the wrong side of the law. See 99.9% of them were 101% dependent on parents (some even stole), and thus flunking was also a huge part of their culture. Some were smart and did something, but you can count them with ur fingers.
The devil does indeed go hard on the young people to steal and destroy the future of the nation. Like someone said in the comments, most are now drug addicts, some committed suicide, etc, when they realize they couldn't keep this up anymore. It's an extremely sad situation because some of their parents worked as maids to try and put food on the tables. And the kids demanded that little money from their parents just to be part of this insanity.
Custard is some sort of dessert. Most South African households can only afford to buy and have custard during the festive season, in December -for Christmas because of bonuses from work and savings for year-end spending. So they're bragging that they can afford to the "festive lifestyle" any time of the year.
Jamie Oliver knows what custard is. So do most chefs. It is a dessert sauce originally made with milk, egg, vanilla and sugar. Nothing expensive or classy about it. For the homemade one you buy the powder and boil it with milk. Serve it with jelly or canned fruit or whatever pudding you like. An affordable dessert.
@@Sylvia-ww6dv I was explaining why they were pouring it on the ground and from a township/lower class point of view, which is why I spoke about finances.

"Let's go, let's get it" is great for ASMR, Ralph. It does it for me. Please consider starting an ASMR Playlist (if not channel). Also drink your water during the asmr vids. You'll have to whisper though. Not sure if you're up for it but it's a suggestion. I'll be the 1st to subscribe.
Yo BigRalph, Deborah Patter was the journalist back then like the show having her cover this topic shows how BIG it went And for my fellow South Africans: Bekzin Terris - The Calling Woooza badzala 🎉
What you did not get from this video is the dark side of this life style. What some poor parents have to go through to feed their kids bad habits. How some bad parents encourage this. How some of this kids end up in mental institutions because they cant afford expensive clothes. How this also leads to crime to feed the bad habit. if I remember correctly there is a second part to that 3rd degree episode.
I used to hate these groups because you could see that they are coming from tiny houses but buying expensive clothes but I blame their parents for not teaching them the value of money

Custard is usually used in desert's with jello and ice cream and yes it's part milk and has a slightly thick consistency.
I'm pretty sure there's someone who can explain this trend better than Deborah 😂😂😂
Don't diss Debora 😂 - she was legendary in those days.
