The renovation comparsion blowing my mind. Im so convinced. Chile.. I owe God an apology and myself. I got tired of doing the work. I am exhausted. Since 2021 I been working non stop. So much trauma work. Im tired and became lazy. I needed a break and became lukewarm.. Whew. Im coming back home Jesus.

This is amazing conversation!!!! It is so hard to be a creative in the church today. Even with the church trying to control and change your gift. Y'all are speaking to my soul!! No one ever notices what we go through and sometimes we are exploited in our gifts because it doesn't fit the leaders vision or idea of what they think your gift should look like. Thank you for addressing this issue!

This hit so hard as a creative & PK myself I’ve always tried to implement my ideas 💡 to help produce new and creative things to my church but weather it’s content on social media or my artistic skills they’ve always said that’s cool but they never took the action. “Faith without works is dead”and so now there still stuck in the same spot and I love them but I had to go and now serving on the social media team for TC I’ve been able to fully express myself and help create more creativity and I could never be more blessed to be able to do this while also spreading the gospel. And there’s so much more outside of the church and in it. Keep speaking truth 💯

I’m an artist and the amount of times I’ve had to fake smile and nod when someone suggests I paint during a service is uncountable. I honor God with my craft OUTSIDE of a church setting and actually get paid for it. Please stop trying to exploit my gift.

Omg makes so much sense, I’m doing the work two different therapist, writing reading, searching for a church and emotional healing and change. But that time part had me stuck BIG STUCK! What you both touched on for artists is so healing 🥺. It’s funny how I was trying to serve at my church a couple times but it kept being deterred, and now that I’m focusing on my art i learned it’s been God, tho serving is good, I need to go where I am being called, it’s intimidating and a lot of work and I think those two things also confirm I’m where God wants me to use my gifts.

The church does exploit people’s gifts and browbeat and gaslight them to stay in the four walls and give all their money to the institution. When your gift(s) are supposed to be out in the 🌎 blessings others and reaching them with the Jesus in you simultaneously you being successful.

I’m a creator and there was a season I was creating for God in the way in which He designed me to…but now I hardly create, I feel like my passion for the arts is dimmed, and if I create, I feel like I have to follow the trends because it feels a though ppl who are creating in their truth, their way, it doesn’t get recognized. God has given me so many gifts and I’m not sure what to do with them….

As a pastor's son for the most part of my life, I've sat in sermons where the preacher is almost using words and languages to manipulate people into feeling like their purpose is to become a pastor just like them.
Those messages repel me and still do till this day.
I'm like the God that I know is not a one-size-fits-all kind of God. The God I know is not some Squid game to God? Where he just sits from above and watches us try to run over each other and impress him by becoming the last pastor standing?
If that's the type of God y'all be preaching, then I want nothing to do with it.
I want nothing to do with such a selfish God.
Messages like that kept me distant from finding faith for years. Until I recently started finding faith for myself.
I wonder why we still preach such messages tailored to manipulating people into thinking that their purpose on this earth is to come and become a pastor. Then, those fellows grow into becoming Pastors who then recycle the same messages to someone else and keep that same toxic cycle of "your purpose is to become a pastor so you can keep spreading the word of God"
No, some of us are never going to become pastors.
Some of us are just going to become writers who are followers of Jesus, which reflects in our writing.
Some of us are going to become therapists for sons and daughters of God.
Some of us are going to become architects of churches or ministers/people of God.
You know what I mean?
But it's not compulsory to become a Pastor.
So, all these messages about becoming another version of the preacher is unproductive especially someone like me trying to find their faith.
