Definitely is, they're either trying to see if enough people are interested in it, or maybe just doing their best to introduce newcomers to the series before they remake it.
I'm a Zoomer who grew up with a ps2. I've always loved older games, movies, and especially music. It always allows me how people in my generation have no clue who Mel Brooks is. Or when I tell a friend to look up an old game to play and the first comment they have is about the graphics and how the game looks old. The game was Jedi Academy from 03
Maybe I’m a boomer but I find it impossible for them to live up to a reboot of quake as I feel like it would need non linear levels and mandatory mod support which I doubt would happen.
Great video! Quake Remastered is my eleventh game on Steam to set foot on my Perfect Games list having earned all of it's achievements of my twelve total Perfect Games on Steam. I'm totally for a new Quake game! As cool as the Strogg are as a group of enemies I still hope that if there's a new Quake follow up that it is brought back to Quake 1's Lovecraftian themed universe because they're so many other sci-fi first person shooter franchises with Halo, Duke Nukem, Perfect Dark, Metroid Prime, and others and not enough Lovecraftian themed first person shooters like the original Quake. I love this enhanced version of the original Quake and with it has been my first time experiencing any expansion of Quake 1's! Out of the main source port and the four expansions available with Quake Remastered, the Scourge of Armagon is my favorite of each of the campaigns with the new weapons and cool new enemies with the exception of those living explosive kamikaze suicide spike balls of whatever they're called which for me make the spawn look like standard zombified grunt soldiers!
Totally agree that they should bring it back to the Lovecraft horror asthetic, the scifi action theme has been done to death and then some. It's part of the reason I wasn't big on quake 2, though it is a good game I was disappointed they changed the horror vibe to a tired generic scifi feel.
Also cool thing that, there is a cool competitive lore behind, stored in Quake Champions. It turnes out that behind all that thing in first Quake is mad scientist that worked on a project to create super soldiers using arcane knowledge. This knowledge became a gateway to his mind for entities ftom beyond. He became basically possessed. Long story short he raised to a powerful position in a military and was running a facility, made to his and another possessed commander's will. A military base with forbidden technologies, implants that made all personal...corrupted, they all became The Dark Young
I would like a Quake 2 remaster like they did with Quake for the start. And then a re-boot for Quake like they did with DOOM. Maybe with a little less buttons than DOOM Eternal :D I like this remaster/remake times. I can get back to my favourite games or play the games I missed. Playing original DOOM games or this Quake on my console may sounds like a blasphemy, but I really enjoy it and I am having fun like in the 'old' days on PC.
There’s no disk with dlc. The dlc has to be bought digitally or as a code from the store. It’s already out, you just need to buy the PS4 doom eternal and download the PS5 version when you get home. Unfortunately you can’t play the whole game (not even on PS4) without installing version 1. So just buy the PS4 disk and it’ll let you get the PS5 version for free from the store.
@@furtalance_x also, the disk lets you install the digital version, no matter the location of your account if that’s your problem. I live in England and have a Portuguese account, so I had to buy the disk. I bought the deluxe edition so I got a code which let me get the dlc.
Same treatment as Doom... I dunno as much as I liked Doom Eternal I hope Quake reboot will not have the same form of gameplay or mechanics. I think that they have done Doom Eternal and tried that form of gameplay and should now move on to something else and new.
You were incorrect about the story of Quake 1, enemies did not invade earth, you simply went into a slipgate as a soldier not knowing what is on the other side. There is a lot more to the story if you read the codex in Quake Champions, but basically you are trying to find a slipgate that brings you back home, to Earth. There is not a single mention of any creatures ever making it to Earth. Peace.
It’s harder on nightmare because of the changes. They fixed the AI problems that just spammed nades on nightmare and they know are more unpredictable. You used to be able to take out ogres from range as they would just stand there and spam but now they fire and then reposition. Also the 50HP is brutal, many traps (fuck those exploding orbs in Armagon) become 1shots even with 200 armor. Hard as nails, but at least they added quicksaves so you can get past stuff easier; I’m a quake fan but man I ain’t doing levels shotgun start on nightmare lol.
The title is a bit misleading as this is more of a review than speculation on weather or not this really is the start of something more but I hope it is.
Grrrrrrrrrreat. Machine Games had better not try to make a story outside of the Lovecraftian and gothic influences, otherwise we'll have another Wolfenstein: Young Blood on our hands, but with Ranger's kids.
I appreciate the re release of Quake. But I decided to switch to the vkQuake source port. It runs a lot better on my Linux PC, and it doesn't have any problems running Arcane Dimensions, unlike the re release.
I haven’t been playing the remaster that much only out of technical issues with my graphics unit. (I can’t get a card, I’m stuck on integrated graphics). Quake 1 was already really difficult at times, especially in the 4th episode. I think it was due to Quake’s rocky development and not much playtesting, thus resulting in some areas that could be regarded as unbalanced. Nightdive I know did change the Nightmare difficulty, now max health only goes back up to 50 and no further. Modding is somewhat possible, some mods you’re better getting a sourceport like Quakespasm or Darkplaces. Mission Pack 4 - Dimension of the Machine isn’t totally compatible with sourceports, it contains some proprietary code so it will crash on sourceports, I’ve tried :/ For the past year or so since I’ve gotten into the Quake series, I’ve been thinking Id should give Quake the same treatment Doom has been getting. Quake needs it especially because the lore and the timeline are all over the place, so getting a proper sequel or two could tidy things up and get more people into the series like with Doom. Besides, the very ending to Doom Eternal strongly established the idea that ‘the Doom series is taking a rest right now’, so to come out with another Doom game in a few years later would under mind all of the weight to TAg 2’s ending. A Quake 5 is plausible considering that Hugo Martin said at the ending of Doom Eternal: TAg 2 in his livestream he said the Maykers will transfigure into cthulu monsters without Argent energy, and how cthulu mythos and monsters is something he wants to explore. He also said he played Quake 1 and 2 during the development of Doom Eternal and he also said during the final boss fight in Doom Eternal ‘he’s not working on more Doom games but more action first-person shooters’. All of that heavily hints towards the idea that Quake 5 is in development and will be a proper sequel to Quake 1, retaining the gothic lovecraft themes and being set up by the very ending of Doom Eternal.
I’m really looking forward to the potential quake reboot, I’m a new fan of it!! Plus it would be the perfect opportunity to give us the Arena MP that people were bummed not getting in Eternal. I would want it done by ID. Give it that classic fast movement speed gameplay and let us do old school tricks like rocket jumping, and I’m really excited to see how they modernize all the weapons and enemies. Imagine weapon mods for quake guns! Man I need it. I need my ROCKET COCK
I strongly disagree that a new story that combines the eldritch Lovecraftian world of Quake with the space marine zombie cyborg Strogg of Quake 2 would appeal to the fans. I sincerely hope that never happens. I'll keep my anchovies out of my ice cream, thank you sir.
If you're playing Quake on easy or normal skill levels you're playing the wrong way. If you want the real Quake experience I sugest you to play the game on HARD at least. I got Quake remaster and finished all the original and the new episodes as well on my Xbox One on Nightmare skill level.
It could work but directors are scared to take a gamble that big. Being different is good though, looking at games, I see that most people enjoy retro shooters with schizo graphics over photorealistic or cute and cartoonish timekillers.
What's your overall opinion of the remaster?
Loved it. It is basically Quake.
The next Quake game should be a mix between Quake 1 and Wolfenstien gameplay
Definitely is, they're either trying to see if enough people are interested in it, or maybe just doing their best to introduce newcomers to the series before they remake it.

Never played Quake until last week. Already one of my favorite shooters.
Hopefully we get a real sequel to Quake. Quake2 has nothing to do with Quake, they just called it Quake as a cash-in.
I agree
I want quake to get the doom 2016 treatment
That would be a dream come true.
Exactly! If they go all in and do glory kills Ranger could use his axe!!
I still have a bad feeling that the new quake games is gonna be developed by machinegames thanks to some articles.
Maybe I’m a boomer but I find it impossible for them to live up to a reboot of quake as I feel like it would need non linear levels and mandatory mod support which I doubt would happen.
yeah after what they did with wolfenstein youngblood, I wouldnt have high hopes
Quake should be made by Id.

I bunnyhopped to this video as soon as I saw the notification.

Reboot for sure, i’d also like a remastered version of Quake 4… That was the first game I bought when I purchased my 360.

Hell the new Doom reboots and even Doom 3 have a lot of Quake in their DNA. Doom 3 I would literally describe it as corridor Quake.
Somewhere, on a noclip video or on twitter I told Hugo: "Now do unto Quake what thou hast wrought in Doom."
Man Im looking for a doom eternal disc for PS5 with all the DLC included. Il buy that full price day one
There’s no disk with dlc. The dlc has to be bought digitally or as a code from the store. It’s already out, you just need to buy the PS4 doom eternal and download the PS5 version when you get home. @@vernaltear Even if I wait i wont get an all in one disc? Cant buy digitaly man, not an option for me
@@furtalance_x as I said, buy the code at a store. Codes work on any account, even if you’re in a different country.

Do you even know what DLC means?
I got this at the perfect time for me and my friend. When it was only 69 cents!
If only Valve made a Half-life remaster, or fixed HL: Source
Technically the 2011 version of HL Source was 10X more stable and without broken skyboxes.
ULTRAKILL is like a modern quake x doom eternal mashup that plays amazingly
I'd like to see Quake 2 get this deluxe remaster treatment as well
Same treatment as Doom... I dunno as much as I liked Doom Eternal I hope Quake reboot will not have the same form of gameplay or mechanics. I think that they have done Doom Eternal and tried that form of gameplay and should now move on to something else and new.

Yup.
3:20 Those things are in the original.
The first Quake I played was Quake 2 on PlayStation.

Ok hear me out:
A Quake movie with Christian Bale as the Ranger/Traveler. No spoken lines; just screaming and grinning and screaming while grinning.
