Dream Rare Plant Haul FAIL - Don't Make the Same Mistakes I Did 🌱😭

In this video I will be UNBOXING a huge shipment of Rare Plants ordered from Ecuagenera. I usually have good luck with the plants from this company, but maybe my luck has run out? The plants were in terrible condition and most were dead or dying.
I will share with you what I learned from the return process as well. Here are some Do's and Don'ts when ordering;
1. Make sure there is a Heat Pack in your order if it's winter
2. Don't cut off leaves if you plant on returning/refunding the plant
3. Returns are time sensitive: 3-Days to reach out for Ecuagenera.com or 5-Days for Ecuagenera.US.

This was definitely NOT the rare plant unboxing I was expecting. But i'm not giving up on ordering plants online. It's still lots of fun and this was rare.

Hey Guys! So this sad unboxing has a happy ending after all....Ecuagenera responded back and offered to replace the damaged plants. Which is fantastic! They will ship later on when it is not as cold 🌱 ✨

Hi, im in california as well and the same thing happened with my order except the stems of all the plants were also mushy. I sent ecuagenera an email with pictures. They responded and gave me an option for a refund or they can replace the plants in a new shipment in March when the weather should be warmer. I chose to receive the plants in March.
Omg you are giving me hope here after unboxing this plant box o'death! 😂 Fingers crossed I have a similar outcome to yours- I'm going to do exactly the same thing and just wait until it warms up a bit. Thanks again for sharing! 🌱✨

Thank you! I think I did really go through those 5 stages of grief in a very short period of time and arrived on acceptance very quickly 😂 I use that la roche-posay spf 70 everyday, but I don't drink enough water. I need to be better about that. The plants get it all 😂🌱✨

Just unwrapped a box of plant carcasses, i did order heat pack and insulation. The shop just wrapped plants in paper and chucked them in a box. Didnt secure any of it. I might try to have my credit card reverse the charge. You helped me feel a little better, in a misery loves company sort of way. Sorry about your plant babies, I hope they can pull through for you. ❤
Oh noooooo! Not the carcasses😂 I'm so sorry- that's so lame. Like come on guys, it's winter!! I have a special place in my heart for those shops that PAINSTAKINGLY wrap their plants with insulation and so much paper and tape and bubble wrap. But sadly, that's not us this time. I hope your order gets resolved✨🌱
Just saw a Monstera deliciosa ‘Aurea Mint’ for sale in Perth. I’m in Brisbane. The heat here has been around 40 degrees Celsius. They are straight out of flasks, two leaves for $500 Australian. Watching your video has given me the strength to say no. Maybe the two Valium and the cup of tea helped as well. The guy said these are one offs. I’m breathing. Big hugs from Brisvegas. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I picked 3 plants from an Ecuagenerea pop up recently, all of them had mushy roots, very disappointed. I know their prices are hard to beat, but no if the plants arrived in such bad conditions. My best experience with plant shipping has been Steve’s Leaves, I’ve ordered from them very delicate plants in the middle of winter numerous times, every time they have arrived perfect because of their packaging.
Oh no!!! 😢 How disappointing! Email and let them know- it took a little while for them to get back to me, but they eventually replaced the plants for me and the replacement plants were beautiful and healthy. A lot of people have mentioned Steve’s Leaves being a great buy- I’ve been meaning to order from them. Definitely overdue for an unboxing from them 💚
I have a worst experience. They packed poorly and the box arrived semi open and all the beautiful plants was burned by freezing temperatures. I believe they should packed the plants with better boxes and better thermo insulation that actually keep the cold weather out
I'm so sorry to hear that! 😖I'm honestly very surprised that this happened to so many of us- they are usually very good about packing and shipping safely. Even in winter. I hope you get a resolution that you are happy with- I still have not heard back yet✨🌱
They refunded the money and am buy more again. Is sad to see beautiful plants dead . They are actually good in responding and providing excellent service

What a disappointment, but you have a great attitude. I bought a lot of plants during winter and was fortunate enough not to be a bad decision. I wonder if it’s because you imported them? I am so sad for you watching this unboxing. Glad the Raven 🐦⬛ ended up good! I noticed your white pots in the background. Are they all cash pots or are they semi-hydro? I don’t like the look of my plastic pots and am wanting to get something like you have there.
Awww thank you 🤗 It was a never ending unpleasant surprise 🤣Ecuagenera ended up sending new plants and fortunately they have been doing well🌱🌱. The white pots are indeed cache pots. I get a lot from Home Goods, Nordstrom rack, target, west elm, h&m & cb2.

What are some plants you suggest for indoors or an apartment?
Easy more accessible plants: Monstera, ZZ plant, pothos, rhaphidophora tetrasperma
A bit more rare: anthurium pallidiflorum, philodendron gloriosum, anthurium Clarinervium

To be honest with how many failures I’ve seen this past one or why do you guys keep buying plants in the dead of winter? Almost none of them come in alive at all.
Seems obvious right? I know. You are not wrong here my friend. Buying/shipping plants in winter is definitely riskier. But I think for myself and some others who had the same issue, we have ordered before in winter with no problems. Bur this time, something happened with exposure during shipping, despite being 2-day shipping and I also think that bc some orders were combined instead of shipped individually, a bigger box lead to more cold exposure. I'll be sticking to Ecuagenera CA in the meantime since it's closer/lower risk. ✨🌱
hey erin! I feel so bad for you, and I feel even worse that I was laughing through your entire unboxing segment, mostly because I've had it happen myself and I've actually recorded it too (ugh, lol.) I ended up trashing that video back in late 2020 because it was so damn depressing and literally quit my YT channel for quite a while after that one... 😂 glad you had the chutzpah to post it!
having ordered from Ecuagenera a million times myself, at least the folks in Ecuador are usually really good about refunding or replacing plants if you can send them photos of the damage within about 1-2 days of receiving the plants. I've gotten refunds for up to 4 plants on an order of 10-12 plants before for stuff that shipped with no roots or in really bad shape. it's definitely hit-or-miss when the shipments go through a few hands on the way. I have also heard that dealing with Ecuagenera US specifically can be a bit more of a pain in the arse and the quality can be worse than the Ecuador plants.

I can see how getting an outrageous, sad order like this would take the wind out of your sails for a while😂 I have yet to hear from Ecuagenera🤷🏻♀️ Maybe their customer service is overwhelmed by emails about destroyed winter orders? Who can say. I feel like the eternal optimist over here😂😆 Definitely sticking to the safe confines of Ecuagenera CA for the remainder of the winter tho, that's for sure.🌱✨
