Just another giant phone that doesn't fit into a front pocket. I'm hanging on to my 2016 SE until Apple drops an actual small phone or at least a folding one that is affordable.

Recently I switched to a 15 pro, the regular one, ohh!! Lord !!! That phone is huge for nothing.

I still wished they designed the iPhone SE 4 around a modified iPhone 13 mini design. The A16 SoC plus a slightly thicker phone to accommodate a bigger battery pack would have have been a hot seller, especially in developing countries.

@@mateipaunescu The biggest fail was it never lived down the short battery life of the iPhone 12 mini. The iPhone 13 mini had significantly better battery life, but the damage to perception was already done.

13 mini I like but the width is horrible. Too small for my fingers to type. If the 13 mini was slightly bigger in width I would buy it

@@AtHost98 I go back and forth between mini and 13 pro max. eSIM makes it easy to switch back and forth. Pro max has really good 120hz screen, extra tele lens, more memory, and better battery life but it’s like a brick in my pocket pants. And one hand usage is bad. Overall I’m still happy with mini. If it had a tele lens and slightly better battery life.. I’d be good with it for another 3 years.
The mini form factor is nearly dead. Especially flagship mini models. I’d guess there are a few budget options available. MKBHD just put out a video about it.
The reason I liked the SE was because its size factor, this destroys my hope and will now buy another iPhone 13 mini or SE with the current form factor as a spare

@@rkshn I have a very rare neurological condition where I’m sensitive to white coloured light on screens and the OLEDS have brighter white colors on the screen compared to LCD so I cannot use them. Not PWM but yes I get constant migraines from using them.
If they would make this in the mini 13 chassis, it would probably fly off the shelves!
60hz with only one camera in 450$ range is not gonna kill even 150$ android phones.

I bought a realme c67 that blows this thing out of the water. Sure the cpu isn’t as powerful but it doesn’t detract from the experience

I currently have a SE 2, I also had an SE 1...i love the SE models. I am excited to get the SE 4...I dont need the expensive ass iPhone. It's just not for me. I wish it was still small though. I hate large phones...
Since the iPhone 8, iPhones have, in my opinion, attained the perfect form in the current stage. I appreciate the 2.5D glass, the squared-off screen, Touch ID, the lightweight design, and the size that is both manageable and feels as smooth as a pebble. If the iPhone SE only updates its processor each generation while keeping everything else the same, I would be willing to upgrade to a new generation iPhone SE every four years till the end of the world.
So a cheap version of iPhone 14??
I have an SE 2 as a backup phone, because of Apple 7 year OS support plan I could pick up anytime I need it but I could never use it as my main phone

I want a mini frame! I had plus and max phones until the 14 I swapped my 13 max for a 13 mini. I only upgraded to the 15 pro for the usb C. I want that form factor back so bad.
Why would accessory maker be making screen protectors a full year early? The new SE will be announced next month.
I own a SE 2 and the touch ID is a far better solution. I can unlock the phone without the need to put it in front on my face. I dont want to unlock it every time I have it in front of me.
BTW: He say he couldn't live without face ID because all app use it...all apps that supports biometric autentification supports BOTH touch and face ID.

People need to realize that Apple understands its audience for each tier. If you’re getting an SE, you most likely bought it for your kid, or budget reasons cause you want IOS but can’t afford the regular iPhone. Most of the people who complain about the SE aren’t the market for the phone

Just bought the se3 today, going to try to ride it for as loooong as I can until hopefully PWM issue is addressed. Sucks the se4 is going that route I wish they just used the iPhone XR with new internals that would’ve been great. Ohwell, at least I like small phones but still… bumbed out. I would’ve liked a new & improved camera

Seems pretty compelling especially if it keeps the current price. I’ve been enjoying my iPhone 15 but even then I pretty much don’t use the cameras that often. Maybe time to switch to an SE when I upgrade in a few years time.

Yes, but if you think about it, the iPhone X had a bigger display than the iPhone 8 Plus and it was still a small phone. I could do the same thing with the S4. It might be slightly bigger, but it’s still gonna be smaller than the 8+.
My current phone is an iPhone 14 and I'm very interested in what the SE4 will be! If it has a better camera (even if it's a single lens) and a better processor than the 14 then it makes a ton of sense for me to trade in the 14 for the SE4!

I don’t know what “budget” means for Americans, but in my country even $200-300 is often designated as the middle segment. I don't know how this iPhone can hurt budget Androids. I bought some "realmi" almost 4 years ago for a $170 and it still works. Except that a silicone case that came with it dried out and cracked.
7-8 years ago budget smartphones were on the verge of normal use. They did not have enough power to load web pages, they froze, and the battery lasted half a day after a couple of years of use. Now they just work.
in america a budget phone is about 300-400 dollars... however there are actual budget phones for prepaid services that are 100 dollars to 200 dollars... those are REAL budget phones. One of the reasons they are calling the iPhone SE the budget phone is because it has a lot of flagship features from 1-2 years ago at a much cheaper price however it is not truly budget.
It's a misunderstanding, Apple doesn't do budget things. SE stands for Special Edition and aimed to target less tech savvy customers, who are happy with the good old design.
One of the biggest selling points of the SE was that it got the latest A series chip , we’ll see if Apple downgrades that aspect or not.
Make it 5,4” like 12/13 mini and take my money 😊
We were supposed to get dynamic island, but I guess this makes a lot more sense which would mean the SE5 would come out In 2026 and then 2028 will be the SE6 and the SE 7 will be out in 2030 then the SE7 makes sense to come with Dynamic Island because they’re supposed to be all/full carbon neutral by 2030 so it makes a lot of sense

Contemplating an eventual switch from Android to iPhone, currently have a Pixel 7a and the switch over all depend on what the SE4 will be when it is released and I not into paying more then 500-600 on the high end for phones

For the SE it's intended to have an older design with the latest internals.
The dynamic island is definitely a newer design choice. So I don't think it will come to the new se

I have only bought SE iPhones for years, why because it has Touch-ID.
I think not having a new iPhone model with at least the choice of using Touch-ID will be a mistake.
They should have both,but ultimately most people prefer FaceID

I loved the touch ID on the SE, especially during Covid mask times. All the apps that require authentification also accepted touch ID

After using 6.6+ displays for the last 5 years I decided to switch things up and get an s24 and wow....this is it! At 6.2, the phone feels very comfortable in my hand.
Before I swapped to android I had the iPhone SE and what I liked about it the most was the size and being able to one hand it but the battery life was complete garbage.
But if anyone out there has had enough with the giant phones, consider an S24!

I’m still using my SE2, a fresh battery change and it’s still good.
People act like you gotta have the latest phone all the time, I’m holding off upgrading until the SE4 comes out mainly because I am ready for USB C to just be the norm otherwise I may have bought the SE3

Most of these countries can get a descent phone for as low as 150$. I got InfiniX phone and it has amazing performance.

I was so disappointed that it’s a larger phone. I have a 12 Mini and a 12 Regular. The mini is sooo much easier and better. The only problem is battery life.
Also you can improve battery life by keeping the phone as minimalistic as possible. That’s why I love the mini. It still works!

LCD sucks. Only thing I hate about my iPad Mini. I'd pay 800 for an iPad Mini with OLED. Blacks look grey when you watch movies in the dark. Terrible
@@loughrey101 I don't disagree but I can't use OLED on phones because the PWM kills my eyes. I am currently stuck using an iPhone XR because it has an LCD.
I think SE will be released latest September 2024 as replacement for the lightning iPhone 14 when iPhone 16 releases. Then you will have SE “0ld design “ with the “Proper iPhones -15+16” with Dynamic Island and USBC

If they go with a 6.1" screen and increase the price, I don't think it will be very popular. Most people will just spend the extra $100-150 for the previous year's discounted full feature iPhone. They need to do something unique with the formfactor (like bringing back the Mini design) to make it stand out. Just making it another 6.1" iPhone model is boring.
Then they will say 599 for 64gb , and ruin EVERYTHING
Would be perfect if it had the dynamic island. But with that old design you'd probably get an iPhone 14 for about the same price that looks far more modern and has a better camera as the iPhone 14 will be 2 years old at that point so prices will plummet. But you'd still get better bang for buck
As long as Android keeps working like windows OS, there will be no Apple Android killer as the market that buys Android always does for the same reason, pure customization.
Actually, customization is not on the mind of the majority of Android buyers. Over 90% of Samsung sales and even higher with other companies are cheap, budget phones. The folks who look for customization are the smaller percentage of buyers of less than 10% of units that buy high-end Androids. But it doesn't matter the SE 4 will sell well, probably among the top 10 phones for that year and it is for people who want to try the best ecosystem.
What market? Out of top 10 most selling phones 7 are iPhones and remaining 3 are cheap budget Samsungs sold in third world countries 😂😂😂

Oh my god, just give me a small phone already! Queue batch orders for, like, SE-mini make sense for me. Say, I know that I’ll be buying a new phone in the next 4 months, so why can’t I batch up with others alike - and only then unspecified-tech-company would produce the actual thing. As far as it looks, screens and batteries seem the most expensive thing to produce in different sizes, but with batching up we can evade unnecessary stockpiles
The iPhone had an advantage in OS update. After galaxy s24 and pixel 8 with 7 years of OS update. I dont think I will return to Iphone.

I still have the 6s and love it and don't really need to upgrade other than for battery life. Im more interested in a phone like this over a $1000 smart phone.

I was fully expecting a repacked iphone xr with usb c, 6gb of ram instead of 3, and a new processor with no other changes. Even if they reused the camera it would still be better than almost all $200 androids it''ll be competing with on prepaid carrier shelves. The Se 3 sells for 99-149 prepaid.

The rule of the se series is to adopt the shape of completely eliminated equipment, which cannot be reflected in this ”leakage“ version. I‘d rather believe that they re-released the iPhonexr.
