Episode 165 The Causes of ADHD 1: Genetics
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2024
- As if we are deliberately picking topics we can't give tips for, Episode 164 is the first of a triple-fister where we try to explain the causes of ADHD. As usual, Alex the Psycho.......education Monkey drones on about genetics a lot, all three hosts struggle to do anything of note in Part 2, and then we answer questions that have been sent in during Part 3. 'What has James lost, forgotten or mislaid this week?" returns with James embarrassingly 15-7 up for the season and Alex reads the usual 'definitely real' correspondence. James struggled with plasmids till he was 35, Alex shows off his masterful inaction, and Mrs AuDHD loves the Giant's causeway a little too much...

My son was diagnosed with the ASD 5 years ago ( against my protests that he’s fine, I was the same growing up). He suffered a number of seizures a year later and his consultant decided to get him checked for genetic abnormalities! He was found to have a 16p13.11 micro duplication. I was subsequently tested and found to have the same gain! I have suspected I have ADHD for many years, but will be going forward for ASD assessment next year!
The same genetic gain is responsible for connective tissue issues. My Dad died of TAAD, and I’ve had 7 hernia repairs so far!
@@eoinc_Ire thank you for sharing! There is a theory of connective tissue on ADHD and this is fascinating 🧛🏻♂️🌪️🎈❤️
Great episode
@@MultiOzzyProductions Thank you! 🧛🏻♂️🌪️🎈❤️
Is there a difference in reliability and validity between the various DNA sampling services available to the UK (to your knowledge)? I've got Ancestry data, but wondered if there's any benefit to getting a further DNA sample analysed for (the pocket of big) Promethease.
@@lifeaccordingtosian the big companies will use the same techniques to sequence DNA, so whatever you download from them should be pretty accurate
TBI, I know a person who's child had a convulsion at a young age, the symptoms are described as "attention deficit " but no adhd diagnosis.
@@HowndsOfDoom Really? Wow… 🧛🏻♂️🌪️🎈
Could you write down that service James was talking about the report that shows the genetic mutations please?
I did a 23and me test and it came up with ADHD increased likelihood
@@akali83 it’s called Promethease. If you have had your DNA taken for Ancestry or 23 and Me then you can download your DNA database and upload it to Promethease which creates a report for about $10 or something like that 🫡
😢I'm sorry about the hat jokes😢 extremely sorry.
I also made hat quips 😭 Because I have a pretend (real to me) internal friendship with James where I say silly things like Alex does. I am a champion of that hat and it's existence is legendary. That goes for James too. Anyway, I am also really sorry! x

@@nettie7645 honestly, James can’t remember any! ❤️
@@Pandavision_ no need to apologise! ❤️
