The Volvo EX30, available to order now in selected markets*, is a cornerstone of the strategic transformation we are on as a company. Thanks for the test drive video! I have already ordered the same model (Single Motor Extended Range) with some different interior choices etc, and this video made me very happy. I'm not sure if it's easier or more difficult to wait for the car now, but at least I don't have to wait in fear of anything being bad 😅

Tinted glass had to be removed when switching from Indigo to Pine to keep the French incentive, but maybe will do an aftermarket tint if really needed in summer (car is parked outside in the elements)
I’ll be honest, I don’t understand the complaints about the display and lack of dashboard screen. I hardly ever look at the dashboard on my current car, and use cruise control pretty much everywhere, which means I don’t care about my speed either. For me personally it’s a complete non-issue. 🤷♂️

Thanks for the great work. But the dashboard.... it does not have dashboard only an ipad in the middle it looks so cheap 😞 It looks like making the dashboard of a Dacia Sandero is more expensive.... At least the dashboard of Sandero looks al lot better 🙂

Another GREAT review from Dan!!!! I currently drive a 2023 Niro EV. Wondering how much smaller the EX30 is. Dimension wise, it is very close in size (just a little shorter), but the cargo space seems a lot smaller! How is that the case? I love everything about the EX30, but wonder if I can live with the smaller cargo space. I suppose like everyone else, 99.99% of the time, I do not need/use the cargo space anyway.
I really like the car, big fan of Volvo, this interior, relatively compact dimensions, super modern tech. I wanted to order one, but ended up picking the Civic (thanks for the tests on this car, I watched them many times), mostly for availability, lack of charger at home, and the fact it's not an SUV.
I also noticed the 2nd camera in the rear view mirror, are you experimenting with an alternative point of view?

I wonder who came up with the idea to make the interior trim look like floors in public buses lol. That grey surface with little dots on it looks EXACTLY like the rubber floors in buses and trams in my country.

Thanks for the video! The only things that I dislike about the car is its price here in Canada (it starts at 56 000$) and the lack of space and cup holders for the passengers in the back. I'm not sure Volvo will sell a lot of those cars in North America but we'll see! Tesla and Hyundai/Kia offer more for the same price imo.

Tesla model 3 is the same. And actually now the shifting of gears is on the screen for teslas lol
@@chags3512Mercedes has had the shifter in that position forever. BMW had it there in the E65. Volkswagen is moving to a column shifter (just look at the new Passat), Hyundai has it at least in the EVs, Smart has it etc…

I watched this video as well as yesterday's performance model. In the performance model you seemed to have some concerns about the braking...maybe the one pedal braking wasn't transitioning fast enough especially on the highway??? What's your conclusion after a second day of driving? Thanks!

While I think it's great that Volvo is putting out some cheap EVs, I absolutely hate the trend of oversimplifying everything, and I don't like that Volvo is jumping onto the bandwagon. Only having one screen to control everything, not a single physical button is just senseless. We're in the age of the highest road safety we have ever had, yet extremely distracting screens like this are becoming mainstream. I own a very new Peugeot 2008 Facelift, and even there I am very much noticing that I am way more distracted than in an older car. It's horrible.
I DO NOT understand WHY car makers put no gauges or information in FRONT of the driver where their natural line of sight is ...its just utter stupidity. Volvo must hire people who ride electric bike everywhere.

@@SDADanCars Awesome!! That's what I have on order. Called Volvo today and the AUS government is holding the vehicles up. ETA of delivery is now JAN 2024 😒😒 I am really worried about the legroom in the back as a future-proofing issue and fighting myself not to pick up an Ioniq 5 instead.
Its nice and well positioned - however, I refuse to drive a vehicle without a guage or cluster behind the steering wheel. Even if its small and auxilary.
Im more than sure if I was forced to try it I would get used to it, but I dont want to. I dont know why but cars just look wrong without something behind the wheel to me. All of them. I really hope this trend dies but im afraid it will not in the name of cost cutting.
Why I don't like one-pedal driving - from the perspective of a driver who is currently driving on the "Autobahn" in 100 km/h zones behind one-pedal driving cars. The brake lights go on and off every second - that's annoying, that's not great! Precisely because you only vary the speed in convoy traffic from - for example - 103 to 101 to 98 to 100 km/h.
The little Volvo is a really nice car and given the relatively low additional cost, I would choose the all-wheel drive version. I don't really need the extra range of the rear-wheel drive car.
cutting cost and 50k price tag just don't fit. I hate it that they move the stuff to the side while mercedes invests in AR in front of you.

I can’t find anywhere whether it has double glazed windows or not. Lots of people seem to complain about wind noise with this car
That screen looks a bit small with all the information they have on there. I really think they would have benefited from a 2nd screen behind the steering wheel to put the speed and self driving views.

I have a Chevy Bolt EUV that I really like. The ex30 would be a serious contender for an upgrade if it had driver gauges and buttons; I won't own a car with a middle tablet only.
Just curious if the car has a low speed sound to alert pedestrians. Both in forward and reverse. I have an ID4 and it has that sound which is required for EVs.
Which car has better visibility on the front window, the tesla Model y or this car?

hi Dan, i saw 2 other reviews mentioned prominent wind noise around the side mirrors at speeds above ~70km/h - did you notice this as well?
Very slightly but nothing to worry …. It is normal for electric cars to have some wind but sound insulation is good 👍 Not sure over 120 km/h

I've watched a couple of other test drive videos stating that the media center is way too complicated and at times dangerous to the point of being a deal breaker. Appreciate your feelings on that. Thanks!
Maybe it's too complicated for people who doesn't drive any car with touchscreen yet. As a 2017 Volvo owner it's looks ok for me. It's similar to the current Volvo systems. I would say it looks more modern, but I don't think it would be confusing for me.

From what i remember will calculate for you the stops but not sure ir you can choose the station to favor fast ones….

I would wait until they offer an option of Head Up Display or additional small in line of sight screen with speedometer and range left etc. Too complicated and therefore dangerous to drive with current one screen system.

Very nice review Dan. Relieved that the driver experience is great, because I already ordered a car, but of course have never been able to drive. The issue of the display and the lack of physical buttons, for me it’s a non-issue as well as another reaction mentioned. But probably it helps that I’m used to it because my current car is a Tesla Model 3. I have one question Dan: can you manage the volume on the steering wheel? I definitely assume it’s possible, but I can’t discover, in any review I’ve seen. Is it possible to do it from the steering wheel? Thanks again for the review, I’m looking forward to the delivery even more.

About cameras, wrong and wrong. You don't get the 360 cameras in base models or even higher. You get 360 cameras in top tier model and to be honest I'd rather go with Tesla Model Y which gives you so much more in their base model, not to mention higher tier models.

Cheap front seats. All real Volvo had adjustable of seat cushion lenght. Why do you silent about it. Did the сhinese tell you to keep quiet or won't they give you the car for testing anymore?
