I’m an entrepeneur myself but it’s also respectable to let the people work 9-5 and don’t have to overthink about a bussiness. Maybe they only want to work not think not create and enjoy their kids when they arrive home and a regular job it’s easier to do that. And it’s ok too 😂 I think the hack is to find a lifestyle that alignes with ur purpose. That’s it. Live and let live 😂

Agreed, and I’m a high level solopreneur. Not everyone is built to be a literal entrepreneur. They may (and can) bring a sense of passion and innovation to their lives through building a side hustle project/being of service while not on their 9-5, but enjoy their 9-5 as their primary income bc it’s low level intensity in terms of strategic thinking, leadership, and implementation. Unless you’re Management/C-Level, but then it comes with crazy amounts of performance anxiety and time pressures.
As an entrepreneur no matter what, those character traits are always “on”-some like me thrive on that, others don’t.
Dan’s also not wrong with his take on it: work for someone else (contracting, freelance), but build it from the perspective of an entrepreneur (controlling your lifestyle and creating meaningful work because you’re on your own time and work-life structure). He’s got a point: unless your business failed miserably, successively, I’ve never seen entrepreneurs go back to 9-5, and always get new word that someone in my circle’s left their 9-5 for entrepreneurship.

This is very true. Not everyone want to be wondering how the next money will come, take the stress of managing people or diving in financial analysis on friday evenings. Many people want a good and steady salary, nice colleagues, clock in and out and then either master their craft or just do the job. Life is about so much more than just work, no matter what is the work. That being said, I am an entrepreneurial spirit all the way and rather make 100 € of my own money than 1000 € in someone else's business. But it is a lifestyle, it is the way people are built. And we need to have mutual respect on both sides.

As long as you are at peace with yourself and you’re comfortable, you don’t have to change paths because of any ideology. We all have to know what works for us.

Yeah, in the video he complains about people who start with a conclusion then rationalize everything based on it. But it kind of feels like that’s what he’s doing in this video. Having a job is not so different from freelance work. Sometimes I consider them like contracts. If you stay at a company for 2 years then that’s a 2 year contract, yes you can be terminated early or quit early. Of course. But it’s not so different from freelance work. Trust me I’d love to make more money and I’m looking into it, but it doesn’t make sense for no one to have a consistent job and for everyone to be doing freelance for their whole lives. That being said, I do think it’s valuable to be freelance, it puts more power in the workers hands to stand up as his own agent

@@Only1Patel concentrate on what skill you're good in, meaning what skill that even if you didn't study it you will succeed with it no matter what. Then you leverage that skill with similar and/or adjoining skills that help your main skill. With this as a template I'll give an example. I saw that I was good with searching on the internet, found out there actually was a job that paid good money for it (search engine optimization or SEO). Now SEO is all about ranking your client's website to the top of Google search and companies and marketing agencies pay you to help rank their client's website and through reading through it I learnt about keyword research, using that I learnt how to integrate keywords into blog persuasive writing, and with that I learnt the basics of website development, how to build a website and then optimizing the images, videos and titles of blogs. Then I learnt how to do video editing and graphics design for my content. This in turn helped me learn about running Google Ads and also Facebook Ads. So all these took me about 2 years starting from scratch. The key is to find a problem that needs to be solved and find an answer to that problem then look for people that are facing the same problem and tell them you've got the answer and you'll help them solve that problem for a fee (your payment). Start first with a skill you already have, connect other similar skills you know that will help. Or find people who have the same skill as you or similar. This will at least get you a job or a referral by someone that you already have helped. Business is about helping people and I helped people with or without money. When people know that you can do the job well they will fight for your time and hence you will pick which one pays you well. That's how I got my job and I'm still learning other ways to which I can make more money from side hustles.

I did exactly what he described... but it was not always the case. I used to be homeless, broke, worked the graveyard shift (8pm-9am sometimes longer) at a Kwik Stop, one of the most dangerous hoods in Miami and had to literally lock the doors at night or buzz people in because people would get shot dead 2 blocks down the road. I would hear the gunshots and freak out. The cops would come in and tell me to lock the convenient store because it was the only thing open at that time (2-3 am). I left home (Marrakesh) for a better life only to find myself in the trenches and a walking zombie after surviving the Boston Bombing Marathon, the second bomb was literally a few feet away, I smelled the smoke, I felt the shake, I saw the blood, I was 18. I’ve been walking this earth for years looking for a way out. My mind was full of mental disorders, my body would get 5 panic attacks a day from irrational fear and PTSD, but I never let that stop me from actually reading and studying my pain, going through it and healing it (I even got certified in CBT - Therapy). Life has its ways and let me tell you, I have never been so happy to learn what I have learned and meet the people I got to meet in this group. I was inspired to even start my own UA-cam channel and called it my first name and first letters of my last name Mehdi Tate pronounced like meditate :) and help others who were down in the trenches and stuck in a system designed to break them. I believe that a 9 - 5 or a freelance situation is essential in these early stages so that resources can be gathered to prepare for the entrepreneurial route. There are cases of some "lucky" ones of course, but some of us are not in favorable conditions to just jump right in the way you put it @DanKoeTalks. I suggest you make a video explaining how teens can also have a go at this, especially with school and the rest.

He can't, same way with a lot of creators in this platform. A lot of them are actually people who come from rich or at least on the middle class families so they don't really know what they're talking about lmao.
A lot of what these youtube entrepreneurs say are just compiled information you can find anywhere. Of course they write and script it in a way that's appealing to people who need money and then proceed to sell their 'courses'. And if you don't buy their courses, well you watched the video, it's a win-win for them. That's their business.
Now if you want start a business or go into entrepreneurship the two things you need FIRST are MONEY and EDUCATION. this are two things this youtubers always purposely don't include in their videos. They jump just right on to motivation, positivity, the importance of their advise and course and now you'll have to buy it 🤣- it's a scam!
So since you're a teenager, stick to school or get a job, get that life experience you actually need to be able to have a network or the ideas and knowledge you need to starting a business.

As empowering as this is. IT'S ALSO VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT NOR ALL 9-5 jobs are unfulfilling and makes people slaves to society.
My sis works a full time developer job that sometimes even requires more than a 9-5 in deadline periods, but she deliberately grew in her career so she could choose a remote work type, where she doesn't have to shuffle traffic to work daily, then sit 9-5 in an office cubicle and while away hours. No, she looks at the agenda for the day or week, depending, does her tasks in her free time, attend zoom meetings as needed and hands in projects, keeps her slack notifications on, so she's on tip of any new developments or directives, then she's free to do whatever she wants with the rest of her hours. She's so rich now, not just based on her salary, but cos she has time to invest the money and knowledge in real estate and crypto. Also does her Personal passions like travel and blogging during her leave.
So, yes, I know not all are privileged to have that lifestyle, but not all 9-5 jobs are doomed.

Calling people who work 9-5’s slaves is kind of ridiculous. I get it, having control is nice, but some people really don’t want that, and there’s nothing wrong with that. We need teachers, nurses, doctors, cops. Without them we would be fucked. We can’t have everyone being entrepreneurs and influencers. Not everyone wants to have ‘control.’ Personally I do better when someone is telling me what to do, if I had to be in control of my work I wouldn’t do anything tbh. And that’s most ppl. So just because it works for you doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. I’m tired of hearing ppl who are just content with the norm being compared to slaves, it’s insensitive.

Not everyone cares about the same thing. There are people who genuinely want to do a given profession like be a nurse or a vet or an engineer or a lawyer. Entrepreneurship is much harder than getting a normal job. And a 9-5 is pretty luxurious in a first world country considering that there are people in the world in slavery who make nothing and die young. Don’t get me wrong, some jobs totally suck and drain the life out of you, but just like not everyone can be an entrepreneur, not every job is bad. Its also hard to trust the opinions of creators who have a financial interest in the creator economy because they either sell a product or service or some mentorship program. Anyways, it’s a nuanced issue. Love your work man, keep it up.

I don't think it's hard per se. People make it hard or complicated because they stumble over their emotions or spiritual issues. You need to master a valuable skill or a solution to people's problems, and offer that to others. It's just about being in service to others.

Its the same concept as the american dream its not possible at all because the lower class itself is what makes the upper class money. I'm scared to live a life like that. Waking up to work and put in lots of effort for someone that thinks you're worth this exact monthly salary.

As an entrepreneur I understand why it fulfills me.

I hope some day you find this message, or any other of your followers read this to know that what you teach is possible to do. Your videos are inspiring and I learned trough them that I followed a path alike at least since 2021. I work literally a max of 10Hs a week but I earn more than a ceo / manager or director that works 50 or more hs a week (Wages subjects to local incomes). I started my 3D school online after 14 years of working for a company that while the pandemic was going on, they became a highly toxic workplace, gaslighting, phone harassment with endless calls of looping conversations on make me do endless extra tasks, trying to make me feel guilty for not accepting to work over weekends at night, worsening work conditions and all for the same payment... at the end Ive seen forced to Sue them and start my own school. Amazingly after months of depression and anger on that place that I used to love I have seen Ive living on a kind of slavery. Just as you say here. Now I spend must of my time with my little kids and wife, im back into music, bike and takeing actions for recovering from a sedentary life that certainly affected my health, health that I am taking back... Im with my two childs like 6 to 8hs every day! Nobody hurrying me to deliver crazy to do stuff out of reason that later is checked as "Viewed" and answered a week later. I Hope to keep this on this path, and I think the only way is to self improve every day! Have a great life Dan and thanks for sharing!

Love this video. The lock downs launched a whole new batch of creators. Its brilliant. I feel AI might be the temporary "shiny object" as well as doing our repetitive tasks. Which is good thing I suppose. As a creative I'm not too concerned about AI. So far AI "anything" has left me with a "flat feeling. Its got no "life."
As a creator I love buying from other creators, because I can feel who they are in whatever creations or services they offer. We can't get away from that as humans. Our 6 senses carry us far forward of what a machine can offer. I love love that. As a creator i believe there is a market for so much more. I'm a oil painter and I've bought a watercolor art, a sculpture etc. I rarely buy what does not inspire me and make me feel something.... books, art, music, a course on a new creative path. As long as we're creating I feel we'll be ahead of the curve and on solid ground. Dan, you are so very very on point....creating is our gift from the Divine.

Since the boom of AI I was so discouraged to create things because I thought some AI will make it better then me and so I will not be able to share my work with the world so I just rather did not make anything. I agree with the sentiment, however some purposes are not achievable without the structure of a 9-to-5 . Try be a specialist surgeon (brain, cardio, endo etc) or an engineer (nuclear, large scale infrastructure etc).. and you will see the 9-to-5 structure serves the purpose of organizing human labour capital like a well running ant colony. Yes, some jobs are crap but some things you want to achieve need the scale and support that a 9-to-5 offers. Your views apply to specific circumstances and industries... and lets not even go to AI, the nhype of AI is just funny, the world is large and if you think AI will take aways jobs in the 3rd world (africa and most non western societies) then you probably have a lot to learn about society. To some people, be an entrepreneur, but not every career can exist as entrepreneurship. There are no state prosecutors, judges, that can exist outside the 9-to-5 system. The system is not the enemy, just the dumb and purposeless career choices.

Abstract out the “mode of delivery” and both are the same.
There are “jobs” that are entrepreneurial. For example, sales.
The larger way to view it is, in the end, it is all still “providing value”.
    Consider the professional basketball player.
    They didn’t start the league.
    They didn’t found the team.
They just love playing basketball really damn well and perfecting their craft.
    Are they a “wage slave”?
At the end of the day, if they don’t play basketball, then they won’t “have a job”.
But that is a pessimistic way of looking at what they do. They do what they love for a living.
Marketable skills produce the lifestyle that you explain without needing to “go solo”. Because truthfully, no one is ever solo.
    Your served community just changes.
That being said, yes, corporations abstract out the connection between value creation and reward.
All I have to say is, I champion value creation regardless of the reward structures, and I personally believe there are many avenues for making that work.
It is if you conform to a value structure, thinking it is the only way to make money, this is the trap.
Value creation is the focus. And from that comes immense desire to be detached from systems that do not reward it.

    • @Noychooz

That comment at 2:51....the context through which I agree with them is when a person is congruent with their job. When the values align, you wont be worried about the 9-5, you will be concerned that you are not doing enough.
HOWEVER....there are sooooooo many people who do not have a convergence of values with their current places of employment for several reasons:
    1. They were misaligned from the beginning and were looking for a reasonable means of employment to sustain themselves until they figure out their way of living. This change happens when people are in their 30s, and a lot of times they don't have the freedom to pivot due to obligations.
    2. Over time, companies may change their culture, values, or goals. This can lead to a mismatch between an employee's personal values and those of the company, and now they have invested a lot of time and energy to be competent at tasks they are no longer interest in. They would've grown as an individual and undergone several psychosocial stages of development (Erik Erikson) and will be looking for something to meet their new needs.
    3. The job market and economic conditions often dictate the availability of suitable jobs, for a person that was trained to a level of competence years ago...their undergrads are now irrelevant and they have find new ways to stay relevant, except they didn't build the skills to be more diverse. They were only perfecting what the organization needed.
    4. Investing so much time, a 9-5 makes up most of your waking hours where you are consciously doing something for personal growth, means people are not focused understanding of their own values and passions, leading them to stay in jobs that ultimately don't align with their true selves.
    5. Humans ironically are evolved to adapt and that leads to them accepting being underpaid, overworked, and working the 9-5 because they have been maladapted to their work environment.
I'm saying this to say that entrepreneurship can offer many people relief, personal growth, discipline and freedom that an incongruent 9-5 could never offer.
You can either aim to have a balance of work and life....OR....you can have your life's work.
Note: (I haven't watched the full video yet) I just wanted to share this with you all so that you will consider doing something that is not the norm and could be your path towards freedom.
PS If you liked what I said here find me on twitter so we can discuss more @cazjosh

In my view, the principal distinction between an entrepreneur and an ordinary worker lies in the cultivation of continuous improvement and learning skills through entrepreneurship. As an entrepreneur, you are motivated to constantly take your product or service to the next level, which requires ongoing development of these skills. However, becoming an entrepreneur does not necessarily mean that you will have more free time or that you will not indulge in leisure activities like watching Netflix. Rather, entrepreneurship can shift your mindset to focus on a path of continuous growth, which I believe is essential for achieving professional success. Of course, success in different areas depends on various factors and is not guaranteed.

I can already think of thousands of people I've seen on the internet or in real life who are really happy in their position and love to learn and improve every day. To say entrepreneurs are the only ones wanting to continuously improve is just underrating a lot of people. If I understood your comment correctly.
