I thought there was a really early album where it's just her. I know there was an album of Hadestown with her and some other performers that was long beforr the love cast recording (I forget the word for what that's called). But I could've sworn there was an album of just her singing these songs before that
@@Amayagma Her album Xoa has a few more hadestown solo renditions on it. Might be what you're thinking about. It has Why We Build the Wall, If It's True, His Kiss His Riot, and Our Lady of the Underground.
@@ollieeegracei usually refer to the live album as the original cast album and I'd feel calling it the original album would be confusing, but concept album is a better descriptor, I just forget what it's called sometimes
She's an amazing performer, song writer, and singer. Gives me chills. A true artist. Thank you Anais, for your talent, and sharing it with us all to hear and see :)
Vermont songwriter Anaïs Mitchell performs "Hey, Little Songbird", from her "folk opera", Hadestown, a modern retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
I don't know... I could say take a look at my favorite videos in my channel but I'm not a troll. I admit I listened to the studio recording of this song sung by someone else and it sounded much better. must be her voice that put me off in the first place.
Greg Brown. He sings it on the album. But she sings the part of Eurydice. And she wrote the whole genius album ~ ~ a folk opera ~ ~ with the intention of having all the parts sung by other (amazing) artists. Which they were. And it's a masterpiece.
Very, VERY much higher than Original, but yet you are girl, nice voice too, I can actually sing the original version too lol, but I'm a boy so it's different
i want an album where she just sing all the songs from this musical,, her playing is so beautiful and moving

absolutely amazing! so uplifting to see how much it's grown and evolved!
This is AMAZING!! Great performance! She should release a "deluxe cd" with solo renditions.
This hits differently

your voice is amazing, I get chills when you say "the choice is yours"
She created gold. What an incredible song writer. Incredible to hear this after seeing the broadway musical.
So glad I found this! Cheered me up a lot. Great voice and guitar playing
I just love this girl... she is a song bird
Born of a legend
Hearing Patrick Page and Bobby Waters sing this is amazing, but the higher voice she has is perfect
I LOVE YOUR VOICE OMG
I'm in love.
This was incredible
Tabs. Who was on the phone. Five years. Still waiting. Please. :)
this is something else
So it took a decade to bring this to Broadway and won a Tony
I feel like you're my songbird.
i just love evrything you do
My first time hearing her. I am reminded of Nanci Griffith.
@jacksonthomson HaHa Yeah, we could use a canary... :)
Don’t know about plucking or voice but luv her :)
I'm sorry but I gotta know....(aside from the tabs, please)....but who was calling when you played this?
Who disliked this I want names
I bet it was the people who couldn’t see the like button from crying too much
It was probably Orpheus
Apollo probably
Yo this comment section is thirsty
anais is a gallon of water for these thirsty fans

@@aureas Agreed, she did an amazing job at writing the musical. I'm so glad the musical is now live, I honestly would've died without it.

this is the woman who wrote the song lol. this is the "original". it was posted 11 years ago
@@camilacerini645 no I'm pretty sure it was some old guy
@@kn3236 i mean, that old guy is the person she hired to be hades in the musical... this is her singing the song before the musical existed lol
Lol
This is honestly not good at all. neither the voice nor the songwriting.
Look where she is now, the musical is fully developed and she has a wonderful cast to go with it. ;)
hell yeah!!!! @@ThisIsDipper
This comment was so ridiculous I burst out laughing. It was as brilliant 8 years ago as it is now on Broadway.
Wooow what a commen! :D This song is amazing, one of my favorites!
This is Anais talking her first baby steps !
