- 1939 Porsche type 64 at the Hessisch Oldendorf vintage VW show. This car was built to race in the 1939 Berlin to Rome road race which never happened because of the war. Car is built on a 1938 Volkswagen prototype chassis and uses a lot of VW parts. It belongs to the PROTOTYP MUSEUM in Hamburg. It was exhibited with other pre-war Volkswagen cars at the show. At the end it was driven from the old town to the Grundmann museum. Here is a rare glance from the passenger seat of this remarkable car.

This car is very special. I discovered the history at the Porsche museum yesterday. It is actually the car, that was built for that Berlin - Rome race that never happened, but the design is the origin of the later 911. It is the first time that Porsche built that design and all other cars at that time looked very differently. It was really progressive for the next century that was quite some time away in 1939.
The type 64 was actually built only 3 times but all versions have crashed. there is only one car that was rebuilt from all other parts that is shown in this video. The Porsche museum just exhibits the body of the car without any wheels, suspension or engine.
Looks like a space ship, very impressive design
Wow, it DOES sound like a VERY OLD VW Beetle or worse, but it DOES look very space-age modern! Congratulations! A masterpiece! My MOM had the VW-Porsche at 1:58 . Thank you for bringing this super-Classic close to us with such a great VIDEO!
Tolles Fahrzeug! Der Tacho müsste noch aktiviert werden, dann ist das Fahrzeug wohl perfekt. Historisch absolut einzigartig.
Oh my!! What a beauty!!!
I LOVE THIS CAR SOUND!!!
Nossa ...de outro mundo .
this car is so rare!
The only original TYP 64 of 3 models (2 of them were crushed in 40's) was sold earlier to Museum. I believe this car is just a replica
What he is the white handle on top of the dash board?
Turn indicator, I think.
@@davend530 they did not have signal light 1939. must be for the wiper, I guess
@@rkremer7977 That is the turn signal.
Yumos Garage
looks like a Nash and a Porsche mated
Or, a Porsche and a Tatra T 87 !
Der Einschvagen sei.
isn't it a replica? 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻
Very cool but the speedo is broken and nobody cares
Too much deification of a car here for my taste. Sounds like all other air-cooled VAG engines, like a bunch of rocks rolling around in a tin can. Yeah it's a Porsche - so what? Big deal.
That’s the big deal idiot.
Funny you say what's the big deal but yet your here watching a video of a car you don't like 😂🤣😂🤣 ..you need to get off those pills because you ain't all there 🤔🤔
