I just bought the Phonak M70-R and was given a very detailed overview on maintenance and how to wear the hearing aids by the audiologist. However, it's a lot of information in one sitting. Your video made it seem so much easier than I could remember. Thanks for this!
Thank you Dr Cliff for your very helpful guidance: my excellent Phonak Paradise aids are are now working as they should - I was given cleaning kit when I bought my aids but received no information about how to use it. Finding & benefiting from your video has been a great relief: the importance of cleaning the contacts and mic ports was particularly useful.
What are your thoughts on the Phonak D-Dry? Is the uv feature worth considering? I was thinking of using the D-Dry once a week and the alcohol whips when it looked like there was wax on the hearing aid.
Excellent production qualities. My only add is, I do the cleaning AFTER the aids have been dried however you choose to do that, and I use a Serene mini vacuum (designed for HA cleaning). Brushing has the chance of forcing debris further INTO the place you are trying to get it out of. The paint wore off my 5 yr old Oticon Alta Pro's but I think that's my sweat more than cleaning. Also the inside battery area always got dirty due to sweat & debris ingress. I never figured a way to clean there as it's packed with electronics. Tried a small swab wetted with electronics liquid cleaner once but did not do much so far as I could tell. Thanks Cliff!
Thank you so much. I have had my Audeo Marvels for four years and only now learned from you how to put in the dehydrating beads. So many things that should be obvious, aren't necessarily!
This info is so helpful. Thank you. My husband and I are new to hearing aids and bought pairs of the Marvel M90 -- with a lot of input from your videos. We LOVE them -- have them about a month. I can hardly tell they are in my ears! And love the phone interface via Bluetooth.
Thanks for another great video. Cleaning is really important. My audiologist provided me with a Hal-Hen Mini Dri-Aid kit. She did tell me that it was important to remove the batteries before putting the hearing aids into the little tub. I do that every night.
What a great video. It was only when I split apart a wax guard disk (as shown in the video) that I could see there is an inner circle for used wax guards and an outer one for new ones, nor had it been explained how to clean the microphone ports. Now I know, many thanks from the UK.
For the rechargeable hearing aids, would a cue tip with alcohol or alcohol pad be good for keeping charging contacts clean? As to cut through any oils and skin cells?
Thank you Dr. Cliff... excellent video - informative and appreciated the knowledge on cleaning procedures... also you did a great job explaining the updated Phonak App that I watched on another youtube video from you... Your informative videos allows hearing aid wearers to get the most out of their hearing aids,,,, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
Thanks Dr. Cliff, my AuD took care to show me all this already except for the Zephyr dehydrator. I received a larger jar and desiccant pack but since I'm a diesel mechanic I probably should invest in the Zephyr. I absolutely love these hearing aids. I have the Audeo 312 version with the ear bud style domes. It's amazing the capabilities of these to be tailored to your frequency loss, they are so much better than I ever imagined. Keep up the great work sir.
Just switched from the Phonak (Disposable Battery) to the Marvel Rechargable. Best aids I have ever owned. I have my old dryer previously used every night. Since I already have a dryer, Is it advisable to use the dryer with my rechargeable (maybe once or twice a week.) Will it do any harm to the rechargeable battery?
Hey Bruce. Most likely you will be okay. However, I can't confirm this. I just got done reviewing the Redux professional dehydration system and it has been proven safe.
Great video. Thanks for posting. I alway tell patients to brush off mic ports in the morning after the wax has dried up. Makes it a litlte easier to brush off. Keep up the good working posting.
Thank you very much for this!! On my Costco Kirkland Signature 10.0T the case does not have the perforations in the lid. Could I just put in a small electronic desiccant pack in the area in front of the hearing aids and close the lid while charging? Again, thank you for your excellent videos!! VERY much appreciate your time and effort spent to educate "us" consumers.
Havin g a hard time putting in the new filter. For some reason it is not "clicking". I even took the little filter case apart but unable to attach the new one. Any thoughts?
Doctor Cliff, I have Phonak Bolero M70-PR and the rocker switch very often needs to be pushed very hard to make it work. Is there any way to clean that?
Are these instructions applicable for Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R hearing aids? Notes say the instructions are for both Marvel and Paradise hearing aids, but the video only describes Marvel units. I can't find the wax filters for Paradise units, only Marvel.
The Dr. is right that the CeruShield Disk is a bear to manoeuvre. Especially for older people with limited vision. Phonak does need to look at a better dispenser. It is also difficult sometimes to determine that the 'filter' actually needs to be replaced.
Also the filter can become dislodged and sit squint inside the receiver, which makes changing them out for a new one very hard. The older CeruStop filters are much easier to replace.
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I take care of my mother. She has the rechargeable hearing aids that my sister got for her in another state, so I didn't get to see her doctor or how to keep them clean.
Can you use the Zephyr by Dry and Store for the Phonak Audeo Marvel rechargeable hearing aids? The video only mentions the Zephyr for the battery hearing aids. Thanks. I learn so much from you!
I just got rechargeable Phonak Audeo Marvel aids I will not be putting them in my Zephyr dry and store....it defects the purpose of recharging your hearing aids overnight I will use the new charging unit and put a drying disc in that!
Alcohol will not harm them. Lint free cloths do not do a good job of removing wax from domes. Plus, you should be able to get some extra domes from your hearing care professional.
I would suspect earwax in your ear canal. If sound reflects off the wax, it will cause excessive feedback. When you cleaned your devices, it probably increased your amplification, therefore increasing feedback potential.
Have you ever had a patient experience a “blown speaker” sound with a phonak paradise hearing aid? My audiologist tried sending it back to the company but I’m still having the issue with just the left device. It’s so frustrating and the sound quality of my bluetooth is terrible. Not sure what to do.
I have the Phonak Audeo M-R/RT and am having a problem with it. I have tried finding help online but can't and of course the audiologist that sold it to me isn't open on a Saturday. The hearing aid was working fine last night when I took it off for the night. This morning I can't get it to charge. The green light comes on on the charging case but there are no lights on the hearing aid itself. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Just subscribed your channel. I am due for replacement. Your educational approach has been major different in helping me choose informed choice; however, the worlds are split between Resound Quattro and Phonak Marvel. But this information helps us to make clear choice in regards to maintenance as well. Keep up the good up, Alhamdulillah [All Praises belong to GOD alone].
How does the custom ear mold come off the end of the hearing aid wire, they do not fit very well, I want to switch back to the dome type ear piece, but since this virus hit, the audiologist business I bought them from has closed down, with no one to contact since. I have a set of the ear domes . Than you
Doctor, I went to clean the vent hole on my titanium ear mold. I notice there is what I can only assume is foam. I expected to see a clean opening. Thanks
Dr. Cliff, I forgot to ask... do the Marvels have a lock available? I am used to wearing locks on my Signia 7NX aids to make sure they stay in place. Thanks!
What are your thoughts on using a hearing aid despite having ok hearing? The goal is to boost hearing above your baseline (since I imagine hearing ability is not binary but along a continuum, it seems plausible that you could boost up your hearing to a certain degree). The implications would be becoming able to pick up more subtle changes of tones etc.. Is my thought process wrong on the capability of a hearing aid?
Thanks, Doctor Cliff. I need to go back to my AuD for come clarification as he doesn't appear to realize that even the newer aids (Phonak M70 RT) use the CeruStop doohickeys. Instead, gave me just the Cerushield. Luckily, I've still plenty of the Cerustop devices so can insert one to protect my speakers.

Hi Cliff, would it hurt the rechargeable battery to put it in the heat style once a week, theory being batteries don't like heat. :)

A hearing aid could help you do this, but that is what Personal Sound Amplifier Products are for,, and they are significantly cheaper.
