Possibly stupid noob question if you don't mind me asking. On the areas you painted it looks like there were some areas of body filler applied and possibly(?) primed light gray. I've always been under the impression that when painting something, priming the entire area the same uniform color was needed to achieve a good uniform appearance with the topcoat. My knowledge is based on DIY painting of household things though. Is there a reason why this car didn't get a uniform primer coat first, or is doing this really not necessary when painting cars?
As long as you make sure you have coverage you don’t need to prime entire sections. It also saves money, time and materials. If you give the primed areas a coat first it saves giving the entire panel(s) that first coat as well 👍

it also comes down to personal preference mate , the iwatas do lay down lovely compared rp the prolite in my eyes thats not saying its a bad gun but set up right these are phenomenal guns
Need a big compressor to run these ls400's I've got a 3hp 200ltr 11cfm snap on compressor and it wont give me 1.5 bar Haha had to upgrade to a screw compressor just to run 1 gun 🤦♂️
See I’ve got a 150lt 5.5hp standard compressor runs it no issues at 2.0 bar you need 14cfm min to run a gun and keep the tank topped up , it’s no worse for air than any other gun

@@techn9ne206thx for sharing:) How much do you overreduce it?...i now put in normal amount (33% thinner) and take in extra 20% of the 33% in it..seems to work a little better... thats about 40% total reducing:)...
@@techn9ne206 another thing with the overreducing is that it seems to pull back on the glossiness after finishing the drying so i've tried out the 630 clear a bit with 532-15 racing additive in it instead of 30 thinner..seem to hold the gloss and dry in same time as the 625 so thats a pluss:)
Try heating the clear up before you spray it. You can sit the clear and hardener tins in hot water for about 20 min before you clear. I find this really helps the clear to flow and it goes on really nice. In a pinch, you can even microwave the activated clear for 20-25 seconds, but don't overdo it!

I know I’m commenting late since you put this out a year ago but thank you so much for explaining the difference between WS and LS so well it’s helped greatly . I’ve watched other reviews and demos and not one has come close to telling the difference . Thank you very much this channel is the best !
hey thanks for watching i plan to go into these guns in abit more detail soon in a dedicated video and itll be a special one, and i greatly appreciate the comment we always try to do our best to get everything over in our videos as much as we can to help viewers of all types, great to have you with us
Tonys_Refinishing I can not wait for the in depth video . I think this has become my most wanted gun . I’m going to start saving for one now... right after I save up for that compressor I want . No point having a gun like that with just a small handy mans compressor and btw I greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply
no problem at all man i try to answer all questions as best i can buddy thats surely the whole point of the channel to help you guys as much as we can
A comparison between the LS400 and the Sata 5000/5500 HVLP would be interesting.
Really nice review!
Greetings from Germany
Hey jonas we have a review coming on the HVLP sata 5500 x very soon mate
2 QUESTIONS Why no sealer and why no lock down adhesion promoter for scratches?..
Not my shop this mate had to be done how the boss wanted
What basecoat you used (ppg envirobase?)
no its called mobihel and its solvent
I agree Tony this gun is amazing after some guidance from the master Gavin from iwata. I've been using iwata for many years now
nice to hear of more people hes reached out to , the issues always been with these guns that the sellers give no guidance on setup, or most anyway so people dont know where to start and then end up giving them a bad name when infact this guns by far one of the best you can buy
Ahem! PMP and Gav work hand in hand and ALWAYS advise buyers on setup so UK customers should feel confident in the support they will receive from us @@TonysRefinishingTV
Lol I did say most don’t lol , I have to say though you guys are an exception you give every bit of advice you can and go the extra mile to help customers too , which is exactly why your the best firm for us to work with on our channel
Nice review Tony ! 👍
Thanks buddy
How to order parts only nozzle only iwata ls 400 -05
your local distributor
Hey bro l have the ws400 but will like to know if the ls400 needle and tip will work on it
Zero to Hero 24/7 yes its great on both!
Hi, have you had the chance to test the LS400 iata for a conventional base?
How do you mean a conventional base mate
I love my gti pro and my pro lite for both base and clear but have to say I have the ws 400 and the ls400 both lay down much flatter and I think use less material. Sometimes a little too good, the pro lite with te20 seems to nail the factory orange peel.
it also comes down to personal preference mate , the iwatas do lay down lovely compared rp the prolite in my eyes thats not saying its a bad gun but set up right these are phenomenal guns
Awesomeness brother 😁👍
thanks man
I love ls400 for base but bit to slow for clear for me !devil bliss for clear for me great review
i only use it for base for clear i use the ws400 which setup right is a quick as any gun out there
@@TonysRefinishingTV would it be a bad decision to purchase this gun as a dedicated clear gun for a new painter?
Which one mate the ws400?
@@TonysRefinishingTV the ls400 entech 1.3
I’d go for the w400 bellairia 1.3 tbh as a beginner
Have you ever cleared with it?
No as I’ve got the ws400 for clear
What's your settings for silvers?
Need a big compressor to run these ls400's I've got a 3hp 200ltr 11cfm snap on compressor and it wont give me 1.5 bar Haha had to upgrade to a screw compressor just to run 1 gun 🤦♂️
See I’ve got a 150lt 5.5hp standard compressor runs it no issues at 2.0 bar you need 14cfm min to run a gun and keep the tank topped up , it’s no worse for air than any other gun
@@TonysRefinishingTV yeah see you've got that extra volume from your 5.5hp motor it works fine with clear gun its them hvlp guns that guzzle air
nice vid..awesome talk..superrrr
Thankyou
top review
Thanks
Anybody tried glasurit 923-625 HS CLEAR with the iwatas evo 1.3Hd?
I use this now and struggeling to get it to stretch proparly because its massiv thick (viscosity 20s) so if any have some setting recomandation etc id love to hear about it.
I use the lotus and caterham editions of the evo ws on both base and clear...just love it for base and on clear (roofs and bonnets like glass but still some struggles along sides of car to get that nice finish i want)..
Hope to hear from someone thats using glasurit or used it:)
kenneth andersen I use it at my shop I just over reduce it. I use the 5000rp tho. I’m not a big fan of the supernova.
@@techn9ne206thx for sharing:)
How much do you overreduce it?...i now put in normal amount (33% thinner) and take in extra 20% of the 33% in it..seems to work a little better...
thats about 40% total reducing:)...
Great review mate mite look at one ov these I have a ws400 obs for base
What’s that setup like then buddy , never heard of obs?
@@TonysRefinishingTV I set it up pretty simular to hd approx 2 turns out on fan n full fluid it's same air cap obs stands for optimized base setup
Got ya lol never heard of that
Its the one with the gold knobs Tony, was replaced by the Supernovas, LS and WS @@TonysRefinishingTV
got ya lol i only know the ones i have now and they are awesome
Nice
