  • One of the main purposes of this channel is to help you save money when building a home recording studio. And what better way to do that than buying a used laptop to run your production software.
I did this 7 years ago and my Macbook pro is still going strong today (will probably break now I've said that).
My Laptop Spec: Macbook Pro, 15 inch, 2013, 2.3GHz Quad Core i7. 16GB RAM 500GB Hard Drive.
The specs in this video aren't 'rules' just what I have researched and the general consensus on what to look for to get reliable performance. There is no reason you can't produce great music on a lesser machine or even an iPad etc!

Fully understand and respect the power of negative impressions. If Macs are your thing, go for it 100%.
But the idea from some that any 'Windows machine' doesn't last is as true as the pink unicorn behind you in this video. It's reductive and simply defies logic.
I have used Windows laptops professionally in office and on the road for _decades_ across multiple generations of hardware and software. Also desktops and personal laptops at home. All the work ones were in perfect condition when replaced by my employer as a matter of course staying current.
The problem ime isn't the computer, it's very very often the user. I knew guys who killed laptops in two years or less of ignorant mishandling.
Three things kill laptops the quickest -
    - heat
    - dust(which increases heat)
    - viruses/malware
Don't block heat vents, and use a simple cooling pad if possible - I imagine this could save many a Mac as well. And for gods sake learn to protect oneself online with AV software, script and malware blockers etc. Done this for decades with only one virus which I caused, caught and killed.
If a person cannot preserve any decent laptop motionless in a studio setup, that person shouldn't own one, Windows OR Mac

Booo, my macbook pro 2012 the *most* expensive version, turned into a $2000 brick. They were notorious for overheating to the point of melting their graphics cards, which is what happened to mine. Oh, and then they sent me on a wild goose chase assuring me I could get it fixed. Finally reached the end of the goose chase to find out it was basically impossible... At which point they started marketing a new one to me. Never owned Apple ever since. Logic is amazing and so is even Garage Band. I'll make my way without.

Does this still stand now that Apple has shifted to using their own processors?

Hey. Could you please help me decide between Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm and Sennheiser HD 599? I will use the headphones for games and music on my Pc at home only. Which one is better?

definitely the Sennheiser if it is primarily for sound enjoyment, the DT770s are meant for mixing music and critical listening so if its gaming and music listening the Sennheisers will be a better choice as you will get more bass
