This particular machine is pretty slow, since you can mine netherrack instantly with a good pickaxe. The plus side with this machine is that you can do other things while it works.
Xander Schwartz would not be worth it in the long run. Redstone and obsidian cannot be pushed with out breaking. And it would be ineffective with having to move the mob lava detection

Alternative would be to utilize the push limit, which again makes the whole bay immovable. Not to mention that you'll have to get it in there without massively inflating the whole machine. If Redstone components were movable in the first place, that is.

What about the lava that falls into there, which is how it works. Although if you put the zombies and villagers 1 block to the side, and placed them so that when lava filled the channel it flowed into a lower channel in front of their faces it might work. I dunno if it would count though, not being fully obstructed.

Mango you should make a top down lava sweeper for wider machines. You can start the unloading much sooner and just activate it every time. The sweeper is the biggest problem when the cycles are shortest, the flat time for the sweeper is less important the longer each cycle gets anyway. An additional bonus is that you never have to clear the lava.
Everyone , i discover that you need to put one tem in the left dropper (the one with comparators) and 6 items ( preferably) in the hopper. To start machine you need to put a redstone block to the glass tower , the one on the flying machines , not the observers. The only thing i don't know is how to stop the machine ( and also don't broke it)
Edit: you need 8 items in the hopper , don't know if it matter , but only to be sure , and to turn off the machine you need to break the rails under the flying machines (there are only one rail road under the flying machines)

This is genuinely stupidly insane. I literally cannot put into words how blown away i am. Its like a raw tide of emotions, surprise, impressed, disbelief, etc. This entire thing runs on its own completely and needs little to no human interaction. Ever. And it does all this for you. I know you guys can create some crazy things, but for some reason this is just absolutely mind blowing.
I think it might be possible to make a chain of several zombies and villagers. If at least one of them loses the sight, than we launch a sweeper. Maybe they should overlap, so that lava flowing between two ranges doesn't cause any issues.
Doesn't this take ages? It keeps going back and forth. That's like O(n²) complexity. Or maybe O(n!). Considering that there are extra steps after each run, it might be even worse.
Extra steps doesn't affect the complexity even if u run the sweeper every time, the amount of time the machine spent at bay is constant, ie doesn't depend on the lenght of the tunnel.
More specifically the first time the tunnels goes 1 block, the second goes 2 blocks up to the nth time where the machine goes n blocks. So the distance traveled is the sum from 1 to n. Which equals n(n + 1) / 2, which expands to an n^2 polynomial.

I think the biggest problem here is the speed. It will take longer and longer to get some blooks. You could get rid of some static delay, but not the linear one. The static delay I mean you can launch the flying machine that collects the blocks, before the flying machine that pushes the blocks up returns.

You can actually expand this machine by making that villager sit in between 2 zombies so you can double its size
And then repeat the segments, though there would in checked space in between.

But it would also, y'know, reduce the available distance to travel and make the machine less effective
