I’ve owned 40 markers, 12 of them Dye, and the new markers are leaps and bounds better than the old markers (other than the DLS engineering project). The DSR+ is my favorite marker of the last 5-6 years, just ahead of the LV1.6. While I like PE and have owned a handful of their markers that all worked great and shot like butter, I think too many voices are shouting ‘PE only’ which discourages people from learning about and trying new markers. When I was a teen and visiting my local pro shop, a guy there explained all the ins and outs of markers on the wall. At the field, he handed me his Marq 6 to try for a point, and I was on the Bob Long train for years after that. Learned how to troubleshoot and tinker, balanced regs, and dialed them in. Now, I don’t feel like that anymore and love that the DSR+ gets aired up, used all day, wiped the bolt down after and put on a lil DOW33, and I’m set. But cmon, let’s not lose ourselves in dedication to a paintball monopoly here. I’m so glad Dye listened to players and fans and have moved beyond the Matrix line and made something that looks promising. Shoot something different, try an older marker that’s caught your eye, and check out what’s out there.
@tristant2512 haven't owned 40 markers but I've owned a few. And in my old Age I've had the privilege of basically owning what ever markers I wanted. My favorite Dye is my DM5 with tadeo board, NC of the nostalgia. But most of my stuff is bob long or force. Throw in a karni, and I got my vintage toys. I agree you should shoot em all. New markers are all so similar that it's really the egos and ease of use that separate them...and I like lv2 over 1.6....again more bc of egos. Cheers

Agreed, ease of use and ergos take the day for most players. I think that’s why when the DSR+ or MXR can compete in ease of use, but there’s still a hesitancy, it’s good for everyone to try another marker and explore a little.
I ran about half a case through one at my local field. It has everything I like about the DSR and the M3, but I don't like it aesthetically. I also never had a reliability issue with my DSR+, I know few people that did. I did have a chop with really brittle paint, the paint was breaking from waist high drops. I had super brittle paint issue until I switched to the Freeflow bolt on the DSR. I loved the way the trigger was. It took me forever to dail in my M3 triggers to the way I like it. I will probably get one when a PGA I like comes out. I'm literally at the point were I just buy markers cause it's a cool version of what I like. There's what I have to shoot and then there's wall hangers that I take to rec every now and then.

I was team Planet Eclipse, and the one time I get on the Dye train was the DLS, I was so disappointed that even after the bolt swap it was still a POS. I like the look and the numbers but a little reluctant to pull the MXR trigger.
@@scottunderwood3900 Yea, I know…Dye usually does right by their customers, but I had called multiple times complaining and implementing their fixes for that back cap of the bolt unscrewing, and nothing. The folks i spoke with were very condescending in their rebuttal of my problems, even though I presented my concerns with tact. That did not sit right with me. But I am a big boy, I am sure I will get over it : ) .

Just looks like a beefed up DSR gun. If you're smart wait until they are used and buy them for pennies. Dye has horrible resale value so if you can wait 6 months to a year you will get these at 1k or less all day long. I've seen so many videos of them now and they are loud booms compared to other lines. I feel they went down as well taking away the nice big side screen. With the DLS flop I'd be very wary of buying anything DYE for a few years or at least let some test dummies buy them and use them for awhile to iron out any kinks. At this point I'd roll PE and DLX over Dye.
They were right around 2k back in 01-03 and could be a lot more if you went with anodized to match barrels and regulators. A teammate of mine dropped 3k on an lcd from cobra paintball.
I will just wait a few years and buy it used for $800 or less if it is a good marker. I don't know how the sport will survive with paintball marker is high $1,600+, and I know paintballs prices haven't drop neither $45-70 for a box of 2000. that is the same price back in 2008. I know some company came out with the lower end guns but we still have the same issues we had 15+ years ago. I just notice more and more young kids and adults play airsoft in my area.
To be honest im not impressed. Planet Eclipse makes mid range markers that are 100% better than the new DYE. I know people get all upset when i say it but the GEO R5 shoots the same amount of pods and so does my SP Shocker ERA. DYE markers just dont complete with SP - LUXE or Planet Eclipse markers they dont i hope i didnt hurt anyones feelings but hey its the truth
If you want anyone to take you seriously, provide justification and technical reasoning instead of weak unsubstantiated opinions. FYI - I love PE and own many, including an R5. The MXR is the first Dye marker that truly competes with PE's finest.
I think theyve gone the same way as every company in the US righr now. Provided less, said it was innovative and jacked up the price whilst taking away features...

I have 3 DSR+, 2 M3+, a freeflow pipe on the way and the DLS was the worst dye gun I shot since I came back to paintballing.

There were $2000 markers in 2007. Most high ends were still $1600.

Markers have been expensive for over 20 years. Go back and look at the private label LCDs and the custom cockers.

I've got both PE and Dye guns and the DSR+ is hands down the nicest shooting gun on the market, regardless of price.
