I have an Elna. The last threading spot before the needle, where you said it doesn’t matter which side you use, the reason for the two-sided threading position is for when you’re sewing with dual threads.
Thanks for posting this! I have an Elna Lotus and the threading guide but I keep missing a crucial step. I will use your video to help me. An fyi, in the machine guide, it points out that the very last guide before the needle should be ‘popped’ into the very front, right above the needle, kind of like, forcing it around the corner.
I was taught the bobbin must be a letter “P” not a “q” to go into the casing. So this utterly confused me?? P is for perfect sewing and the bobbin won’t jam. 🤔
The Bobbin goes in counter clockwise, not like you do it . look in the manual and you will see it , and it is the wrong bobbin you use , you can't use the clear one to this old vintage machine.
I have an old Elna Carina and I have to use metal bobbins with holes, the clear plastic done work on mine either. So if you can't get the clear ones to work, keep searching. Thank you for this video in general!
I know! I don't want to be rude to this lady but there is so much lack of and mis-information here. Vintage Elnas are amazing machines but like every other one on earth the first rule is to read your manual cover to cover no matter how boring it seems at the time. I hope the people needing help for this model ended up finding it, including the maker of this video and I say that with kind thoughts.

Why is it that people who don't know very much about their sewing machine make a video to teach everyone how not to use it???
