Handy tip is that those No11 Swann Morton blades also fit X-acto and Excel type craft knives. The No10 blades have a bigger heel which don't fit these craft blade holders. Also, there are many other types of scalpel holders, some of the chunkier types are more suited to people with poor hand grip. Personally I have a standard one, similar to the one in the video, a retractable holder and a super delicate and long handle designed for facial surgery. Definitely worth adding a Swann Morton to a crafter's blade arsenal.
In the US, you can buy a box of blades with the scalpel for less than 20 bucks (eBay). I have many blades to cut with myself, but anyone can do most of the cutting they will ever do, with a box cutter knife and a scalpel. You don't need knives that costs hundreds of dollars to make good cuts. Sharp blades, yes, crazy important. Good topic, but you should have covered the blades a little bit. You use the same style I do, but there are many styles of these blades for scalpels. Not all of them work the greatest for cutting leather. Not all blades fit the same style of scalpel either. Most fit the common scalpel, some are larger for the other size. That's something new people need to be aware of as well.
I recently discovered the Swann Morton Retractaway knife - this takes a scalpel blade, but retracts for safety. I have no affiliation to the manufacturer, I just think this is a good product for any craft.

Thank-you sooo much for this info on the scalpel.
Well said will! Dull blades cause accidents! I change the blade after every project. I’m going to try this one!
Do it! Make sure you use the link in my description

I’ll plan a follow up video
When I looked on EBay I didn’t see a box of blades with a handle, maybe sold out so it wasn’t listed. I should have said on USA EBay/Amazon

Thanks again. What size handle do you use. The site shows a selection of sizes. Thanks
I use a number 3 handle
