I took my husband to see Neil because my husband LOVES him. I thought I was going to be bored and mannnnn was I wrong. I was fascinated. He is so funny and makes astrophysics easy to understand. I also got a kick out of him doing his lecture in his socks haha. I am a fan! Neil rocks
But he is so famous that he is too confident, arrogant and pampered; he couldn't explain Gravity on Joe Rogan and bumbled , sidetracked and distracted to avoid the fact that he couldn't explain it. He's arrogant because he doesn't open up to ideas from 'lower, non famous' scientists outside the establishment who do have answers. In his Cosmos series he constantly hearkens to famous scientists who were rejected because they weren't part of the "academic establishment", yet made scientific breakthroughs. It's a given that breakthroughs have to come from "mavericks" because they aren't thinking like most others. I went to his tour talk and was bitterly disappointed because he was lazy, pompous and didn't open up to questions from the audience where a maverick might have been able to wake him up and challenge his complacency. He also got hand fed questions from a co host who has the smarts to know , but never challenged him either. Then you had to pay an extra price to "meet and greet" him afterwards where his 'authority ' would not be challenged if he had done so in public. I felt like I was in a religious revival for smug elites who reject religion but still profess their superiority through the ' new religion' of science of which he is obviously a High Priest. It was verified in the closing part where he read from his book like a bible only to tell his believers to 'love the planet and go and sin no more' !
omg! he needs to have a permanent segment on this show! I love science, but they never teach you these things in school.. also their "chemistry" is hilarious🤣🤣🤣
Andrew Blunt What he is saying is that the gravity of a black hole is so strong anything that enters will be destroyed before it gets a chance to find out.
Kelly Clarkson has one of those lovable personalities, you can tell she's a good person even in person.... I don't even watch talk shows.... But saw her and just instantly fell in love with her.
Holy golly.. there is only ONE person in the entire world who's a better person than Ms. Clarkson and it's my mom. Her curiosity in this clip is so profound and legit inspiring. I'm almost 40 and I STILL get this excited about scientific discoveries.. like the TRAPPIST-1 planets!! We Are All Star Dust, Friends!! .🖖🏿💫✌🏿🤟🏿
@@sinkingship4454 I thought the original comment was some dude promoting his own album. He should have put the whole thing in quotation marks, then I would have realized that Kelly said it.
cellophaneboy ... I agree if she hadn't prefaced it with "I just got it and haven't had the chance to read it yet" it definitely comes across that way but maybe she is going on her knowledge of other books of his she HAS read.
"It is not that we are in the universe...that's true...but what's even more true is that the universe is in us" I watch Kelly Clarkson show at work everyday (I'm a dental hygienist) and I was SHAKING when he said this
"And we who embody the local eyes and ears and thoughts and feelings of the cosmos we've begun, at last, to wonder about our origins. Star stuff, contemplating the stars organized collections of 10 billion-billion-billion atoms contemplating the evolution of matter tracing that long path by which it arrived at consciousness here on the planet Earth and perhaps, throughout the cosmos. " -Carl Sagan
"We are the local embodiment of a Cosmos grown to selfawareness. We have begun to contemplate our origins: starstuff pondering the stars; organized assemblages of ten billion billion billion atoms considering the evolution of atoms; tracing the long journey by which, here at least, consciousness arose. Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for Earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves but also to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring." -Carl Sagan
Looooove listening to this man! I already feel like a nerd for liking his field of study, but he really makes it exciting and somewhat understandable whenever he talks about it.
Not gonna lie. His explanation of sonic booms was so clear and concise. Super sharp. If someone asked me to describe it on the spot I would make a mess of it lol.
I loves me some Kelly Clarkson. She’s a great talk show host because she’s so down to earth and relatable. Two words of the day: spaghettification and bifurcate.👍🏾😲

I love hearing Neil, it’s just amazing how smart he is and the way he explains things with so much passion makes you interested in science.
Imagine Dr deGrasse and Dr R. Dawkins on this show.
Imagine Degrasse and Billy Graham together on the show!

The black hole answer is a bit misleading, because we have no idea where you would go. Another Universe ? Or dimension ? Nobody knows the answer.
