Tip: in order to not have the crumbs you have to do a crumb layer, it has to be thin and a light color (not required I just recommend it) also make sure to cover every piece of the cake 🍰 then you put it in the fridge for about 20-30 min or until you touch it and it’s not sticky. Then you can continue to add layers like normal

from someone who bakes sometimes, you should have put a thin layer of frosting, put that in the fridge, and then frosted it. that way the cooled layer locks in all the crumbs and it won’t ruin your cake:) ALSO CONGRATS ON 600k!!!!!!
yep, the crumb coat!
There’s something called a “crumb coat” to help prevent the whole crumb mixing with your final frosting layer! It’s a light layer of your frosting and you chill it for a little to like lock in the crumby bits lol
It came out so cute!! Don’t worry about it being too short, it’s like a bust sculpture! It’s just Wendy’s top half 😜🐸🎂

You can get cake boards to put your cakes on. It makes it easier to transfer onto the spinning cake stand thingie and keeps it from getting into the grooves. You can get them from any big craft store (michael's, joann's, h*bby l*bby) in the cake decorating/Wilton brand aisle!

For the icing, some techniques that could be used to help with that were:
1- to put the cake in the fridge so that the frosting doesn’t melt
2- to use a piping bag (or a plastic bag with a hole in one side) to put the frosting on, then you can use the spatula to even it out

How to not get crumbs in the icing:
Do a crumb coat, putting a thin layer of frosting/icing on the cake, in either white or the same color your already planning to put on top. Once you put that thin layer, pop the cake in the fridge to chill for 20 minutes or until the frosting/icing isn’t goopy or going to come off anymore. Then apply the frosting/icing you want, in your instance, the green color for Wendy.

I love how much motivation you have, it’s just so inspiring! To make the cake less crumbly, you can add a thinner layer of frosting and then refrigerate the cake so the frosting kinda locks in the crumbs? Idk any other way to explain it. Cg on 600k too! You’re amazing!

YUMMY TORTIA AND FROSTING
The tips about the crumb coat are right on, but also store bought cake mixes are more delicate and crumbly than homemade cakes. You can add additional all purpose flour to store bought cake mix so it holds up a little better to being frosted, even with a crumb coat. Mixes are also typically sweeter. I think it turned out cute!
How much flour should you add?
@@Rachelsummers24 Start with 1/4 cup of all purpose flour for one box of cake mix and see how you like the texture. If it’s still too crumbly or delicate, you can add up to 1/2 cup. :)
Tip: before putting the eye sockets on the cake, you should've rolled them around in the frosting to get it evenly around the cake and then stuck them on 16:56

TIP: When you pick up semi - melted choco buttons / chips, use the blade of a knife to carefully slip underneath it and then slowly lift it up and onto the cake. That way, it'll melt slower bc your fingers won't be touching it, therefore, won't be transferring any heat onto it.

Honestly the store bought frosting is so sticky and just grabs all of the little cake crumbs and pulls at the cake. Most of the tik tok girlies are probably using homemade frosting and putting on a crumb coat before the decoration layer. You can’t really do a crumb coat with the store bought frosting because it’s made to never really set up so it doesn’t set up in the container. I’m honestly genuinely impressed with how well this turned out! And store bought cake mix isn’t cheating they taste just as good as homemade. I will recommend homemade frosting over store bought, though. It does taste better lol
For shaping the cake I would recommend using a serrated/bread knife, it would be much easier!

a few tips for our next milestone cake: crumb coat! it’s a thin layer of usually white frosting that covers the whole cake pop it in the freezer for a half an hour then frost it normally. piping tips would honestly help so much. a cheap set and a zip lock will work just fine. last go to michaels they have so much cake decorating stuff! pre made fondant is great also the melting chocolates! you can get them in colors and they won’t melt when you touch them! I CANT WAIT TO CELEBRATE 700K!!!!🫶🫶

I felt like I was watching myself cook.😅 I would have given up on the belly, so I give you bonus points for creativity and perseverance. I tried my best not to laugh at the tortilla, I ended up just holding my breath.
My Hobby baker heart cried and sobbed bc if this Video... but it does look like a frog and like wendy so it does look cute!
The frostig you used is actually suppposed to be whipped up, (with a mixer) so that it is more light and fluffy. That makes it apply even better. But also at that point just whip it up by yourself with butter and icing sugar. Definetly get a hand mixer! They are so handy for numerous things. Theres also a crumb coat where you ice the cake thinly and put it in the fridge to harden. So that the next thicker icing layer has no crumbs. (:
Btw: baking takes sooo long, so if someone doesnt have the patience (is willing to wait for things to cool, harden, etc) a lot of things can go wrong.

Good instincts Raven when people ice cakes professionally they actually do what is called a “crumb coat” where you do the first layer of icing then fridge it then put on a second layer of icing which is why you don’t see crumbs on the icing when you see a finished cake from a bakery

Raven I'll give you a pro tip I saw on UA-cam if you have any extra crumbs you can mix it with butter cream and it creates a dough that you can mold hopefully this helps in your next cooking video ,♡your the best ♡!
