I can see it was a wise decision you made to buy that trencher, since you have used it often.

I helped another guy with his shed internet and we used power line networking and it works great. In the house add a outlet next to the breaker for the shed and plug in the sending adapter. Then whichever outlet you want in the shed to have internet plug in the second receiving adapter. He had it wired to a desktop computer that was connected to a small TV. It’s recommended to use a surge protector on both ends to make sure equipment doesn’t burn up. It works perfectly every time I visit.

My solar monitoring (ENPHASE/ENVOY) used Power Line Networking and I have to say it really sucked ! It was really difficult to find an electrical outlet that providing good performance, Just my experience.

Hey Pete it happens to the best of us. Be careful in this Texas extreme heat. 52 years old and we have been gardening for 30 years. Drink lot's of water and get you a straw cowboy hat. Great job Pete, funny ending, LOL. Blessings, Mike

FYI, if you’re doing this at home, there are smaller trencher designed for low voltage and irrigation that only go up to 12 inches deep.

Looks good Pete. The only thing I would have added is PVC clamps that will secure the PVC pipe to your house/building and keep it from moving/being torn away from the walls. Cheers!

I'd never run copper between buildings. If you're running a line, go fiber. In your setup, I would have used a couple of TP-Link 5GHz N300 Long Range Outdoor CPE units. They're about $50 each. I've installed several building to building sites without any issues. Btw....that spinning doesn't sound like a latency issue but just a poor connection.

Hopefully the copper line works out for you long term. I've setup a long run commercially in central Texas and the copper eventually corroded to where it wouldn't work. It was a bit over 1/4 of a mile and under a road. I replaced it with a 2.4ghz wifi link and later on a 5ghz link and it worked much better. This was back in 2004 for the copper run and around 2012-2015 for the wireless runs, and the wireless ones were much faster. I also had a 1000' run in a set of buildings I worked at and it got zapped by lightning and replaced that with fiber and never had any further issues.
For my acreage I'm planning on using UniFi Pro access points as I already use them at my suburban house and detached garage, speed and latency has been excellent with these. I may run a fiber run to my building that's about 500' away from the house though just to keep speeds up as that will be my office and I work a remote IT job.

Pete, next time you may want to consider a point-to-point wireless solution using TP-LINK CPE210's (2.4GHz) or CPE510's (5GHz). I have AP (ACESS POINTS) for 2.4GHz and 5GHz on the roof of my homestead linking a remote WIFI Router and 5 HD security cameras (2 fixed and 3 PTZ) in my BARN over 300' away. The S/N (signal to noise ratio) is 63dB and datarate for the link is excellent easily maintaining the HD cameras and an HD TV running a ROKU.
The CPE210's and CPE510's are very easy to set up and they are my "go to solution" for linking buildings on my property.

Just a heads up, if you use another off the shelf wifi router, you will have to set it up independently (not connected to the main network). You will have to disable the DHCP server and change it's default IP address if it conflicts with your indoor router.
You could go controller based, like from Unifi, and just use their access points. Another controller based solution is the TP-Link Ormada series.
If you hit a snag, feel free to reach out!

You can disable the DHCP in the added router and set its internal ip out of the way. Then connect lan side only leaving the wan (internet) not connected. It will act as an AP.

    "WHILE THE TRENCH IS OPEN".....
Piping/conduit might add some expense to your job. In this case, putting an extra 1 in conduit or two when you wired the building for power may have saved that trenching and digging. The video could have been about attaching the cable to a string and zipping building to building.

They are very comfortable the best I've had. The brand is (Thorogood). I bought them about 8 months ago but just recently started wearing them. They were $280 but with inflation now, they will probably be around $10,000 😂

I’m 27 and I know what a dialup handshake sounds like. I miss the old days of the internet when the average user had respect for each other and shut down the troublemakers. It’s all wide open now in 4K quality and severely degrading society.
