Nice ride! That has always been a favorite stretch of road in America. I will never forget the beauty of that area as you approach Santa Monica and how many times I crossed some of those walkways over the highway to the beach with my aunt! Awesome vid- brings back awesome memories!
Nice drive on the pacific coast highway in the west coast… I wonder if the East coast the other side of the country has a Atlantic coast highway since that’s the opposite of the Pacific Ocean. I can imagine how beautiful the Atlantic Ocean is also in Miami Florida all the way through New York City and the Boston Massachusetts area ending in Maine.
Jim this is like your NH Seacoast video back in 2009. (Although in this video the weather is more favorable unlike the other one) You have the perfect music for driving down on the coast as always! Your California tour vids are looking very good! Keep it up! I want to see what you have in store for us when you are going to Vegas!
You made an I-10 dive from the Ocean Avenue lane! Freeway Jim, I'm astonished! Some stretches of this road are so thickly settled, the maximum safe speed would be 30 mph - like Quincy Shore Drive in Quincy, MA. Yet it's all 45 mph instead. Yikes!
I can't even imagine how much those houses between 4:15 and 4:30 cost. Probably some of the most expensive beachfront property in North America if not the world! lol
This is a beautiful area. As a side note for those who may wish to go through the area but can't or don't want to drive through it, there is a public bus (Metro line 534) that travels the Pacific Coast Hwy. from Downtown Santa Monica to Malibu, ending at Trancas Canyon Road, north of Malibu. Here's a link to that line: media.metro.net/documents/5948bbb4-34ac-4e8d-8a37-455502df5e2d.pdf. Scroll down the link to get the time schedule. In case the link becomes outdated and doesn't work, you can get info on this line at metro.net Thank you Freewayjim for these great videos of the Los Angeles area. I'm in Las Vegas, NV now, but I frequently get homesick for Los Angeles and these videos help me relive that time!
That is one of the most beautiful arterials in America! I would argue the 45 mph speed limit is too high given the pedestrian activity and development (I'd personally have it at 35).
1:27 I'd imagine what it would be like to live there. But are any of these homes protected from tidal waves or erosions? I'm especially concerned about the house seen at around 2:05. 4:15 What are all those guys doing in the left lane? Is there some kind of event going on or something? 4:56 Thank god you were able to make it over at the last second! Great video, Jim! Loved that choice; wasn't that song used in your NH Seacoast video?
Thanks, good questions about tides and erosion I was wondering that too. 4:15, just a lot of folks wanting to turn left and go up the hill, that is the road shown in the vintage postcard at the beginning. Yes I used this song in NH, I had classic beach Boys songs all lined up and it go zapped in testing so I went with this instead.
Thanks, yes indeed that thought crossed my mind. I originally had a classic Beach Boys medley for this but one of the songs did not pass the test channel so I went with this.
Justin Hundley Not to worry, next Friday's video will rock your socks off. Mondays video, while not hard rock is more fast paced and has a different vibe to it.

Glad you liked it, always nice to know when my work brings back pleasant memories for people :)

There's nothing on the east coast that matches the PCH, mainly because east coast beaches/coastline do not have mountains around it.
Très belle vidéo ! Elle envoie un peu de chaleur de Californie jusqu'en France :)
En plus, j'adore cette route. Thanks !
Nice video! They like those sharp turn freeway exits in CA. it seems. I've seen several in your videos and others too.
Thanks!

Thank you, I've got two videos coming from Vegas sometime next month :)
Very nice. At 4:22 could that ramp on the left be from "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World?"
Thanks and good question, I've seen the movie but it's been a while, could very well be.

Beautiful
I've been at that final part of the video. We were getting off I-10 to Santa Monica Beach and... well, yeah.

Thank you for your comment and for watching!
It's my pleasure!
Oh, yes, legendary PCH traffic. But still makes me homesick.
As Saturday PCH traffic goes, this is pretty good. But, yes, the view from the houses in the Palisades is stunning! I drive this most mornings.
Tx for sharing Ray !
Wish I were there ;)
John...you drive now???
Great road, very similar to that in GTA5!!! :-)
Del Perro fwy
That is fantastic!
Thank you!
You should make a video from Los Angeles to Honolulu. My folks drove us to Hawaii back in the 70’s. But we didn’t make a video.
Is there a bridge across the Pacific I'm not aware of?
do

That was AWESOME
Thank you
+Freewayjim your welcome
Jim, Curious question. Where & When is your season finale for 2013?
would love to drive that route driving a 69 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 speed stick and the rare 428 HO motor

Nice drive. Now you've used a song for both coasts!
Thanks, yes indeed that thought crossed my mind. I originally had a classic Beach Boys medley for this but one of the songs did not pass the test channel so I went with this.
Freewayjim :( I want a rockin' video! Love the music and the video. 5:55 LOL!
Justin Hundley Not to worry, next Friday's video will rock your socks off. Mondays video, while not hard rock is more fast paced and has a different vibe to it.
