Vray is a render engine. Its not a 3d software. And yes it's compatible with a lot of 3d software nowadays (3ds Max, Maya etc..)

There are many 3d edition programs and so it is so difficult to chose witch one is the right one for my propose.. I would like to make virtual scenarios like videogame so Im not sure If this is what Im searching. Is vray compatible with autocad 3d max and Maya and witch is the difference between them? does any body knows? There are many others like Real Factory or blender 3d, but Im really lost... I cannot chose.
