This performance was downloaded 600 million times in China when the show was first aired and Dimash woke up the next day to find security guards at his hotel door! He became an overnight sensation in China and became very famous there. He spent the next 3 years touring China and his first album (ID) went platinum in 37 seconds in China and double platinum in an hour and three times platinum by the end of the day! He’s now famous all over the world with fan clubs in 140 countries. He had a sell out solo concert in London in 2018 (I think at the O2) and a sell out solo concert in New York in December 2019. Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. His debut album released in China went platinum in 37 seconds. He has fan clubs in 180 countries. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. It was rumoured that only a Chinese person could win, but Dimash got an international following after this comp so it didn’t matter. He spent a long time in China after this competition more doing pop songs, I believe. Then started the concerts with a huge concert In Kazakhstan first, followed by European venues until the pandemic halted everything. He did a digital concert for us and posted lots on you tube to keep us going and recently completed the original tour by performing in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Munich.

It's just hard for us devoted fans (Dears) to understand that not everybody knows of him or likes him in his own country. Many (most?) of us have had a rather powerful experience when we first heard Dimash sing. It's very difficult to explain, but what we feel for Dimash is not a usual "fancrush", it's something much deeper. The experiences are very similar and they have invarably led to serious addiction. He has a LOT of kazakh fans, tens of thousands fill the stadium in Kazakhstan for his concerts, his teachers are proud of him, the kazakh interviewers respect him a lot, and the kazakh government itself supported his Bastau concert organizing financially. A lot of kazakh comments on youtube, a lot of them on his facebook page. So I think that quote above doesn`t fit his situation. The wife of the british reactor might be living with him in Britain for some years now and might have lost touch with emerging young kazakh artists. Kazakh fans are always supportive and have very nice words. There`s a group of kazakh artists I follow on youtube, and the kazakh comments on their page are full of pride and support. And for Dimash are the same. And expressed in a very natural, decent manner, no pestering of reactors, no bombastics, no gushing, no strange idolization. Just family-like love, pride and support.

The place he took in the competition was second. Evidently the rules at that time did not allow non-nationals to win. This changed for the following year and a non-national won. Interesting format and lovely that you understand/speak some Kazakh. Dimash is (successfully I believe!) trying to introduce the world to Kazakh music by incorporating elements into almost everything he does (Be with Me has Kazakh rap, Stranger has the qobyz featured throughout, and he has several beautiful pieces sung in Kazakh as well!). He's commonly referred to as Kazakhstan's National Treasure. It will be so interesting to see your future Dimash reactions (especially newer ones as he's got even better with time) so I'm subscribing straight away which I never normally do. Thanks for the reaction! Dimash sings in 13 langauges, his most recent addition is Japanese. In this competition he finished second. He selected a song that was not received as well, and in another epesode was recovering from a severe throat infection - so his performance was spoiled by reduced practice time (spent in medical treatments) he had actually lost his voice, being barely able to talk. Dimash was invited as a trial competitor, the judges were the 500 members of the television audience; all invited specifically because they worked with music in some fassion on a day to day basis. Dimash is arguably the best singer in the world, and also a very humble guy. The Singer 2017 ran for about 14 programmes and there became a great camaraderie between the contestants. I believe he was the first foreign and youngest contestant and came second. He became great friends with the others, especially Terry Lin. It must be said that the singers that took part we also top notch and it is well worth checking out the winner Sandy Lam and the third Lion Band. Whichever of the many songs you choose you will be different and constantly amazing. Enjoy.
The guy at the very beginning and at the dnd speaks fluent Chinese & Kazakh-he was Dimash’s interpreter. Dimash was only 22 years old in 2017; was the youngest contestant; the only foreigner; and was competing (as a wild card) against experienced Chinese singers who already had substantiufan bases. Dimash was totally unknown in China, and had no idea how the Chinese audience would react. THIS WAS THE SONG which launched his career!
I find it really hard to believe that you never heard (let alone heard of… ) Dimash, being married to a Kazakh lady… But ok, let’s give you the benefit of the doubt… 😏. He is an amazing vocalist, performer, and human being. I am flying from Belgium to Kazachstan in September to see him in concert (and I “just” saw him in Prague in April). This is Dimash 101. Just the tip of the iceberg. He is 22 here. After this introduction to the world the Singer show had to hire bodyguards for him. His CD iD, went to platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in hours. Dimash is now 28 and has an astonishing body of work accomplished since the Singer show, crossing genres in opera, rock, R&B, rap, jazz riffs, performance art, mini-movies and songs for movies, not to mention concerts performed all over the world. He also is awarded as a cultural ambassador for Kazakhstan and is dedicated to bringing Kazakh culture to the world including traditional instruments and music in his concerts and videos. I'm certain your wife would enjoy his Kazakh videos like Quragym-Ai. But to see a more recent Dimash I highly recommend a Japanese song Ikanaide (Don't Leave). Dimash is fluent in Kazach and Russian and does fairly well in Chinese and English and sings in over a dozen languages.

Dimash was the wild card performer in this competition. He knew going in that he wasn't allowed to win first place. First place went to a female singer but this performance kicked off his world wide reputation. He is fantastic. Watch Opera 2, Olympico, Stranger and Ave Maria if you want your socks blown off. Our Dimash went to music school at the age of 5 and was recognised as having perfect pitch very early. This competition is what threw him into the limelight in China and then the world. SOS he performs at every concert. Dimash has just completed his Arnau tour and now has a concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on the 23/9/2022. Dimash had an interpreter for this competition as he didn’t speak Chinese. He does speak some Mandarin. He was 22 on this video he is now 28 and just mind blowing. You haven’t seen anything yet. Dimash's fanbase is extremely multi generational...I use to say aged 8 to 80, but some one would always jump in to tell me they were 90....and there are lots of videos of babies listening and dancing to Dimash's music. Dimash was only 22 at the time of this video. Now 28, and he has never stopped working diligently at his art. So he only gets better and better.

600,000 calls crashed Hunan tvs system when he left the stage. He and his Dad left immediately, unknowing and crashed in exhaustion at their hotel. By 3 am a mob requiring police and security was growing larger and early the next morning their elevator opened to a wall of screaming fans as far as the eye could see ! He grabbed his Dad yelling Something terrible has happened, are we safe ?!! as hands pulled them to a waiting car, speeding off while the situation was explained. Again, he yelled Stop the car !! You've got the wrong guy- I'm a kid from Aktobe ! I sang one song on tv, STOP this car ! His Dad grinning, he was assured it was him. 5 years later, he laughingly told this in a tv interview, looked down for a second, up into the camera, I meant it. Brought the house down he was so serious, including me ! Always, the nascent humility of this man suddenly appears. Looked around a sec dazedly, people screaming, clapping, and grinned ear to ear. Ya gotta love him.

You've just begun the journey of Dimash. It's best to watch all of this season of 'I Am Singer' (2017) so you'll have the best idea what this young man (now 28) can really do. Take this season 2017 in sequence by episode. Most of his performances were tremendous but all were something to remember. After this season, Check out his performance of 'Unforgettable Day' (GAKKU) where he hits an amazing D8 in a song he wrote when he was 19. Now you are ready to dig in and truly enjoy. BTW, the guy kind of covering his face in the audience is Dimash's father who Dimash was unaware was at the show until after he sings 'Opera 2'. Dimash is outstanding with Freddy Mercury's 'Show Must Go On' but really, all 12 episodes will give you tremendous base for all future Dimash performances. Check out 'Olympico' later on. It was never meant that Dimash would win as the show permitted only Chinese singers to compete and win. It was here, essentially, that his career started to receive a greater recognition. Since then, of course, he has appeared world-wide, with millions of admirers, although still not in a global pop commercial sense. Dimash ploughs his own furrow, and thumbs-up to him for doing so.

This is the first performance many people go to because it's been around since 2017 and has the most views but in my opinion it's not his strongest performance, as good as it is, of the song. He just turned 29 this year he has sung the song many times as it has become kind of a signature song for him and his latest 2021 digital show performance of it is amazing. He has performed songs in 14 different languages and he speaks 4. Kazakh, Russian, English and some Chinese.

Just some corrections to the list: Love is Like a Dream (Russian); Adagio (English); Unforgettable Day (Kazakh; in China partly in Mandarin) I would add that subtitles for Singer 2017 performances can be found on Gloria Wu's YT channel, as well as backstories etc. Most of the videos on DQs own YT channelhave subtitles provided by the fanclubs.
The night this 1st Episode of the Singer Show aired on Chinese TV - the Chinese 'twitterati' went into melt down - with Dimash gaining 600 million fans there overnight! He learned the next morning , to his shock, that now he couldn't go anywhere in China without a personal guard. No - he didn't win! He was designated 'runner up'. The Chinese Dears { he calls his fans 'Dears' } went ballistic about this. They were furious. Almost caused an 'international incident'! Apparently the producers of the show had never expected him to get anywhere near winning. He'd been invited on as a Guest Artist, as novelty / courtesy nod to their Kazakh neighbour. They then had to explain that the winner had to be a Chinese national in order to represent China in other international song competitions. The Dears were not placated and inter-governmental diplomacy dictated ' a solution must be found!' which resulted in him, fairly rapidly, being given the official title of Kazakh / China Cultural Ambassador { or some such !} Some Chinese Dears { a mad keen bunch of Astronomers I imagine! } were not satisfied with this outcome and arranged to have a newly discovered star located in the Andromeda Galaxy I believe, named after Dimash. 😆👍 Since then he has acquired hundreds of millions of fans from over 150 countries. He is far more than this performance has shown; a soon to be aired tv show has picked him as the new force in music as the most innovative and genius in both music and the business part of the music world. That is from a world wide scope of music. He is much better now than what you just saw, as you will find out soon; if you continue to react to his songs. You will soon see how he seems to reinvent himself and shock each and every performance. He shows his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, an actor, a dancer, a music producer; it gets where you wonder if there is anything he can't do. When DIMASH was asked that question he stated: "I can't cook". His sense of humor and love of his fans and tireless performances makes him a real phenomenon, and not just in music. This was in 2017 and he has only gotten better and better. By far the best in the world. I had the fortune to see him live in New York and it was the most incredible experience ever. Found Dimash in 2017 and have listened to him every day since. Can not go a day without Dimash.

Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. His debut album released in China went platinum in 37 seconds. He has fan clubs in 180 countries. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Ave Maria". It was rumoured that only a Chinese person could win, but Dimash got an international following after this comp so it didn’t matter. He spent a long time in China after this competition more doing pop songs, I believe. Then started the concerts with a huge concert In Kazakhstan first, followed by European venues until the pandemic halted everything. He did a digital concert for us and posted lots on you tube to keep us going and recently completed the original tour by performing in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Munich.

"No one is a prophet in their own land" - and this may well apply also to Dimash. It's just hard for us devoted fans (Dears) to understand that not everybody knows of him or likes him in his own country. Many (most?) of us have had a rather powerful experience when we first heard Dimash sing. It's very difficult to explain, but what we feel for Dimash is not a usual "fancrush", it's something much deeper. The experiences are very similar and they have invarably led to serious addiction. He has a LOT of kazakh fans, tens of thousands fill the stadium in Kazakhstan for his concerts, his teachers are proud of him, the kazakh interviewers respect him a lot, and the kazakh government itself supported his Bastau concert organizing financially. A lot of kazakh comments on youtube, a lot of them on his facebook page. So I think that quote above doesn`t fit his situation. The wife of the british reactor might be living with him in Britain for some years now and might have lost touch with emerging young kazakh artists.
Kazakh fans are always supportive and have very nice words. There`s a group of kazakh artists I follow on youtube, and the kazakh comments on their page are full of pride and support. And for Dimash are the same. And expressed in a very natural, decent manner, no pestering of reactors, no bombastics, no gushing, no strange idolization. Just family-like love, pride and support.

The place he took in the competition was second. Evidently the rules at that time did not allow non-nationals to win. This changed for the following year and a non-national won. Interesting format and lovely that you understand/speak some Kazakh. Dimash is (successfully I believe!) trying to introduce the world to Kazakh music by incorporating elements into almost everything he does (Be with Me has Kazakh rap, Stranger has the qobyz featured throughout, and he has several beautiful pieces sung in Kazakh as well!). Thanks for the reaction! Dimash sings in 13 langauges, his most recent addition is Japanese. In this competition he finished second. He selected a song that was not received as well, and in another epesode was recovering from a severe throat infection - so his performance was spoiled by reduced practice time (spent in medical treatments) he had actually lost his voice, being barely able to talk. Dimash was invited as a trial competitor, the judges were the 500 members of the television audience; all invited specifically because they worked with music in some fassion on a day to day basis. Dimash is arguably the best singer in the world, and also a very humble guy. The Singer 2017 ran for about 14 programmes and there became a great camaraderie between the contestants. I believe he was the first foreign and youngest contestant and came second. He became great friends with the others, especially Terry Lin. It must be said that the singers that took part we also top notch and it is well worth checking out the winner Sandy Lam and the third Lion Band. Whichever of the many songs you choose you will be different and constantly amazing. Enjoy.
The guy at the very beginning and at the dnd speaks fluent Chinese & Kazakh-he was Dimash’s interpreter. Dimash was only 22 years old in 2017; was the youngest contestant; the only foreigner; and was competing (as a wild card) against experienced Chinese singers who already had substantiufan bases. Dimash was totally unknown in China, and had no idea how the Chinese audience would react. THIS WAS THE SONG which launched his career!
I find it really hard to believe that you never heard (let alone heard of… ) Dimash, being married to a Kazakh lady… But ok, let’s give you the benefit of the doubt… 😏. He is an amazing vocalist, performer, and human being. I am flying from Belgium to Kazachstan in September to see him in concert (and I “just” saw him in Prague in April). This is Dimash 101. Just the tip of the iceberg. He is 22 here. After this introduction to the world the Singer show had to hire bodyguards for him. His CD iD, went to platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in hours. Dimash is now 28 and has an astonishing body of work accomplished since the Singer show, crossing genres in opera, rock, R&B, rap, jazz riffs, performance art, mini-movies and songs for movies, not to mention concerts performed all over the world. He also is awarded as a cultural ambassador for Kazakhstan and is dedicated to bringing Kazakh culture to the world including traditional instruments and music in his concerts and videos. I'm certain your wife would enjoy his Kazakh videos like Quragym-Ai. But to see a more recent Dimash I highly recommend a Japanese song Ikanaide (Don't Leave). Dimash is fluent in Kazach and Russian and does fairly well in Chinese and English and sings in over a dozen languages.
As far as a lot of people say he's the best singer past present and future of the world I agree he's been singing since 5 years old and 5 hours a day

Please watch from this point forward which was his FIRST performance of this song "SOS" on the Chinese show "Singer" from 2017 where he was a contestant. He came in 2nd place in this competition but it gained him a lot of recognition around the world. He has 10 more performances from this show available to watch as well. He was only 22 years old then. The winner of Singer 2017 was Hong Kong mega star Sandy Lam but Dimash was first runner up. A great achievement since he was castwd as a dark horse and cimpletely unknown in china before this. Because of his breakthrough he gained a lot of fans, Dears, in China but also globally. I am one from Sweden.
The guy who introduced him, Aray Aydarkhan, is a chinese khazak singer and producer from Xinjiang region. Fluent in both kazakh and mandarin.

Our Dimash went to music school at the age of 5 and was recognised as having perfect pitch very early. This competition is what threw him into the limelight in China and then the world. SOS he performs at every concert. Dimash has just completed his Arnau tour and now has a concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on the 23/9/2022. Go to Dimash's YT page and check out his prolific catalogue. I am sure your wife will enjoy his many performances of Kazakh music.... Dimash's fanbase is extremely multi generational...I use to say aged 8 to 80, but some one would always jump in to tell me they were 90....and there are lots of videos of babies listening and dancing to Dimash's music. Dimash was only 22 at the time of this video. Now 28, and he has never stopped working diligently at his art. So he only gets better and better.

Not every kazakh in Kazakhstan knows him. Shame. But his music is not for everybody, it’s not «trendy and catchy», it’s more deep, more complex and more content. And that’s the reason why he isn’t crazy popular all over the world. I’m kazakh and discovered him last year only. And i’m so happy. 💜🇰🇿

You've just begun the journey of Dimash. It's best to watch all of this season of 'I Am Singer' (2017) so you'll have the best idea what this young man (now 28) can really do. Take this season 2017 in sequence by episode. Most of his performances were tremendous but all were something to remember. After this season, Check out his performance of 'Unforgettable Day' (GAKKU) where he hits an amazing D8 in a song he wrote when he was 19. Now you are ready to dig in and truly enjoy. BTW, the guy kind of covering his face in the audience is Dimash's father who Dimash was unaware was at the show until after he sings 'Opera 2'. Dimash is outstanding with Freddy Mercury's 'Show Must Go On' but really, all 12 episodes will give you tremendous base for all future Dimash performances. Check out 'Olympico' later on. In his more recent performance, he performs 'Stranger' where you will get a taste of his bass range.

It was never meant that Dimash would win as the show permitted only Chinese singers to compete and win. It was here, essentially, that his career started to receive a greater recognition. Since then, of course, he has appeared world-wide, with millions of admirers, although still not in a global pop commercial sense. Dimash ploughs his own furrow, and thumbs-up to him for doing so.
It's interesting that he hasn't gone down the global pop commercial route.

This is the first performance many people go to because it's been around since 2017 and has the most views but in my opinion it's not his strongest performance, as good as it is, of the song. He just turned 29 this year he has sung the song many times as it has become kind of a signature song for him and his latest 2021 digital show performance of it is amazing.
He has performed songs in 14 different languages and he speaks 4. Kazakh, Russian, English and some Chinese.

The night this 1st Episode of the Singer Show aired on Chinese TV - the Chinese 'twitterati' went into melt down - with Dimash gaining 600 million fans there overnight! He learned the next morning , to his shock, that now he couldn't go anywhere in China without a personal guard.
No - he didn't win! He was designated 'runner up'. The Chinese Dears { he calls his fans 'Dears' } went ballistic about this. They were furious. Almost caused an 'international incident'! Apparently the producers of the show had never expected him to get anywhere near winning. He'd been invited on as a Guest Artist, as novelty / courtesy nod to their Kazakh neighbour. They then had to explain that the winner had to be a Chinese national in order to represent China in other international song competitions. The Dears were not placated and inter-governmental diplomacy dictated ' a solution must be found!' which resulted in him, fairly rapidly, being given the official title of Kazakh / China Cultural Ambassador { or some such !} Some Chinese Dears { a mad keen bunch of Astronomers I imagine! } were not satisfied with this outcome and arranged to have a newly discovered star located in the Andromeda Galaxy I believe, named after Dimash. 😆👍
Since then he has acquired hundreds of millions of fans from over 150 countries.

He is far more than this performance has shown; a soon to be aired tv show has picked him as the new force in music as the most innovative and genius in both music and the business part of the music world. That is from a world wide scope of music. He is much better now than what you just saw, as you will find out soon; if you continue to react to his songs. You will soon see how he seems to reinvent himself and shock each and every performance. He shows his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, an actor, a dancer, a music producer; it gets where you wonder if there is anything he can't do. When DIMASH was asked that question he stated: "I can't cook". His sense of humor and love of his fans and tireless performances makes him a real phenomenon, and not just in music.
