  • Nikon 55-200mm DX Lens Review • Nikon 55-200mm DX Kit ... The Nikon 55-200mm Kit Lens is great for beginners who need Zoom capability or if you're a photographer on a budget.
    While this is not professional glass if you know what you are doing you can still get great shots with it. The Nikon 55-200mm is a Zoom Lens with a variable Aperture, meaning you will have to adjust the setting depending on the zoom range if you're worried about your shots being consistent or that you may have some push pull with the settings within a flexible range.
    While Fixed Aperture Lens are better overall they tend to be expensive. This will get you used to zoom shooting before you make that investment.

    I have been a photographer for some years now and this was the second that I added to my repertoire. The full length of its extension I never really got clear sharp images so I will put it at a 55 to 150 zoom. Now that being said this lens gave me some of the most amazing shots I could ever have taken at that time and I learned everything I could do with that lens in it and pressed some people that had better equipment than I did 10 more years of photography that I did. If you’re just starting out in photography I recommend buying it off of a budget. Learning as much as you can with this lens.

    U DA MAN, ROBERTO! Thanks for this video, I got a this lens used in a pawn shop for $75 and jumped on it as a big brother to my 18-55 mm lens and have a great range of focal lengths! Again, thank youfor this information...keep up the great work!

    So would you recommend using the nikon 55-200mm lens or the nikon 18-55mm lens?

  • @lowKut
    @lowKut 7 років тому +1

    I still have this lens as a left over before I traded in my Nikon D3200 for the Sony Alpha 6000. Would you recommend that I purchase an adapter to use this lens on my Sony mirrorless or should I get something else? I haven't used this lens much to know it's true worth. Also, I am a newbie at digital photography.

    • @RobertoBlake

      +lowKut I'd get a native lens or a sigma lens

      Thanks for the prompt response. I have gotten the Sony 50mm F.18 (prime) and the 16-50mm retractable kit lens which came with the camera.
      Would you recommend any other specific ones for an amature who is now starting to shoot?

    I do have a question. I am new to photography. would this lens be OK to have a portrait photo shoot with. I want to take pictures of my daughters and girlfriend.

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  8 років тому +1

      +Jesse Pedyfoot If you're a beginner it is a good practice lens and you can still get great shots out of it overall. For professional portraits and 85mm F/1.8 would be better, but you won't be able to zoom at all.

    What's up Roberto first off I really enjoy your videos they're extremely informative and the knowledge you share is priceless second I'm brand new with all this but I do believe that it's(graphic design) an awesome thing to do for a living so I was hoping you might be able to discuss a couple ways to stay positive and motivated as a beginner
    I'm assuming at one point you dealt with something like that when you first started

    Great video as a new Photographer I see this and am able to use my starter kit lenses for the proper situations. Hopefully I can go full time with my DSLR, lenses, and be able to get the Pop I want and edit to effect those pops. Keep up the great material. And do you have a video explaining how to use this specific lense if so that would be awesome.!

    And what would be a great full frame camera in the nikon line up

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  9 років тому +1

      Mind Blow I'd say Nikon D610 or D750 until the next series comes out. D610 is all the Camera you need and I'd say invest in that as a first full frame and wait 2 years for Nikon's new features and Expeed4 or Expeed5 Full Frame lineup.

    Hi, great video and thanks for the tips. I just bought a nikon D5300 as my first DSLR. I'm not a good or experienced photographer by any means, but am fed up with rubbish photos from other digital cameras claiming to do this and that; but they don't deliver; hence the new DSLR. I want to take mid range photos, say a couple of hundred metres of both the countryside and my kids. Could you please explain the difference between vibration reduction and image stabilisation; as Curry's state this lens has VR, but not image stabilisation. Also, could you please explain if this lens will fit the D5300 as i find the lens guide in the supplied booklet; a little difficult to follow - thanks in advance!

    I can't decide which one to buy for my D3400. Which should I buy Nikon 70-300mm AF or Nikon 55-200mm AF-S VR-II? What focal length of this Nikon 55-200mm AF-S I will get on APS-C sensor.
    Thanks!

    • @alessandro102
      @alessandro102 6 років тому +1

      If you will turn to a full frame camera go for the 70-300, even if it's bigger. If you are not planning to turn to a fx, go for the 55-200, lighter and smaller

    • @alessandro102

      +Naidu mspllimited The 18-140 is the better range and newer glass, but the 55-200mm VR has the built in stabilization so it depends on how you are shooting and what you are shooting most.

    Another thing, When you first start out on UA-cam do you think its bad to some what copy, more or less a person who your inspired by? but some one once told me good artist copy but great artist steal...

    • @iCatnique
      @iCatnique 9 років тому

      it depends on how much is copied. if it's super obvious, then it'll be a problem. if it's subtle, then it's fine. everyone copies, NOTHING is original, pure 100% originality doesn't even exist. copying is especially ok if your just beginning, but I advise you not to copy on purpose, but to use a influential figure for inspiration, only gradually will you develop your own unique style. but in order to develop that style, inspiration is crucial, even if it means copying here and there; especially when your just beginning. just be you, your voice will come :)

I would to hear some names, some tips or some suggestions on good cameras and any info on them or what they're good for. You seem so knowledgeable on all this so I thought I'd ask.
