Oh, I so love to see him play Tender Surrender as an older guy! The original video is burned into my retina!
Such a brilliant guitarist. His timing, emotion, approach and feel is nearly flawless.
Keep doing what you do Mr Vai. You inspire me as a human being not just as a guitarist. Your philosophical approach is where it is at despite the amazing things you have written and can play. May all musicians strive to be true to themselves and recognize the importance they play to humanity.
This man is brilliant he do not think in the way most people think.
You are an inspiration Steve. Thanks
Congratulations on an outstanding career! Love the video, thanks for posting! RJ
Thanks! I've been trying to find it for a while.
steve you are my best inspiration, you have magic in your hands n you make me feel like heaven always you play. thank you for your art.
Simply the best , and that is an understatement
I love your music... the sound... all is so very good.. and I AM DREAMING WITH YOUR MOVIE::thank you... for your GUITAR-LAND.
Everything Vai touches turns to gold.
You were inspiring when I was 18. Still inspiring now im 45. Thanks!
"the Vai advantage" i love this quote! giving props to Joe when he didn't have to. in many ways Steve is so much better but they are both so humble... i love to watch Vai, but love to listen to Joe!!!
Thanks for sharing with that Steve.
This is truely inspirational. I feel that I need to grab my guitar after watched this.
The ending of this song is so... Perfect ! I really like the whammy bar effect he does and the volume swell... it gives a special feeling to the end... Really like this !
The Vai advantage!!! An artist of this caliber with no ego whatsoever is unheard of! What an humble man!
I liked your reaction on The video for TC Reverb pedal. You were like a kid with a new toy. It's very cool to see a life long musician like you still get excited about playing and gear. ;-D
LOVELY!! and just brilliant and original :)
i love his interviews :D
Amazing.Just Amazing
He is the most skillful well rounded guitar player I've ever seen
He is a very humble virtuoso, love you always Mr. Vai
Thank you Steve =D. I hope to meet you soon
The best song ever!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to cry!
For the love of god, yeah that song changed my life, i saw it on TV, the video still amaze me
Every time Steve's on stage, he makes magic.
THIS WAS AWESOME TO SEE 10 FEET FROM ME LIVE!!!!!!! thanks guitar center and mr. vai for the best time of my life!!!!!!!!! marty hough
this is a very well made video
I have a tremendous respect for him. As a player and as I person. True artist and gentleman.
wow I haven't watched that many videos of Steve but from the first one I thought he had to be one of if not the most inspirational musician ever.
Yea. Thanks for that. I have not really listened to Vai's solo work. I have listened to the Zappa years. Now I am getting a listen of his (Vai's) solo works. I really like this piece. So far Tender Surrender is my favourite Vai piece.
listen to the steve vai's speech and tender surrender at the same time. it's heaven you know.....
Just eternal respect for you Steve.
This man is frigging amazing... The finest guitarist in rock music today...What touch and feel... WOW!! A true musical genius...
jesus!!! imagine being lucky enough to have vai as a music teacher!!!! i'd never leave!
awesome!
@DiekClaymation it is unbelieveable how much inspiration you can get from just one person.
"I call that the Vai advantage." Haha. I love it. I'd say working with Zappa is another "Vai Advantage".
Hace lo que quiere con las guitarras!!! Grande Steve Vai!!!
i love how you can really tell he enjoys what he's playing :)
Steve vai is the most intreasting person i have ever seen\met..
perfect!
He's inspirational
The image from 4:54 is amazing.
It's like all the guitars have come to listen to Steve.
awesome
There is no denying Steve Vai's technical expertise,But whenever I listen to steve play I always get this feeling that its not about the music,Its all about Steve Vai.
Inspiring!..
from all gear his shoes are the sickest piece of equip
such control over the instrument.
The song is Tender Surrender, it's from the Alien Love Secrets EP.
Be stil my heart!
Oh god that really touched me! (And my cat!) ..
I felt that guitar playing intensely through my whole being ...
It took me to another world!../
And for that i THANKU ..
i practice guitar every single day because i want to play like steve vai
meu sonho e te conhecer steve vai e tocar com ele e o melhor do mundo
"not compare it to anybody else, compare it to myself"
how wise is that..
Pure genius!
no one handles a whammy bar like vai.....maestro!!!
I want it and bought it .
GRAZIE MAESTRO
I love listening to him. A lot of people feel he is really full of himself but I always see the exact opposite. He's funny as hell too. He’s the man.
It is Vaital that we continue with our Vai comments.
you have it all on your plate
my favorite song of all time. plus are legacys now at guitar center?
he grew up in such a good musical movement
Make sure you pay attention to his left and right hand. Its not just picking its also strumming without a pick. see how he puts the pick "away but still has it in his hand while playing? its a good trick to have in your arsenal
Vai`s WORLD
Vai 4 Life!
Cool.
i would kill to have been in that audience.
The man is awesome. He is just amazing. He is a sick player. Love that "Tender Surrender" piece. :) Nice to see he's a fan of QUEEN also. Good musical taste. :)
You said it.
@Lizco93 actually It's green tap that he's had on there forever, it doesn't effect the sound, where it says "FLO II" it used to say "FLO" on the same green tape and there's "EVO" and "KNOX" it's just there to be there.
i love those telecaster at the back..lol
Pure class act, a true gem (no pun intended)
THE MASTER
Mr Steve Vai, here I am writing to you again. Please make a video explaining how do you do your famous round shape vibratos, I'm dying to know that!
tender surrender is one of my faves.
@NemoTn Also on "Alien Love Secrets" (where it is, in fact, the 7th song) CD and DVD. ;-)
Wish I could get my hands on some Vai Advantage.
This has already been uploaded.
This guy truly is vaildly successful.
he is the guitar hero..
I fully understand that he gives credit to Joe, an already accomplished player at that time, for influencing him when he was starting. I started guitar 10 years ago by myself, and it's only now that I'm discovering what arpeggios and chord tones are! Wish I had someone telling me those basics earlier.
@aigmeyer good point. isn't David Coverdale the only original member now?
If there`s re-incarnation, I wanna born as Steve Vai of that time.
Respect! :-)
@TheDracfink It's a piece of tape, IIRC. He puts it there so the high e-string doesn't get stuck under the pickup when he does crazy things to it.
this song is all about "surrender to the sound tenderly!"
LoL, the Vai advantage. I like that one :)
Personally , Tender Surrender always reminded me of Eric Johnson's Manhattan.
Both great tracks
1:38
I'm sorry... Hold it right there!!!
The whitesnake, slip of the tongue album is by far the best work he has ever done.
@liamzuid i'm not sure who invented the firs real whammy bar but i do know that the first ones to use a floyd rose were Hendrix and Van Halen back in the day
the intro songs. is when im dead. the gates of heaven is opening and there a wall of guitars .man!
@Goldylox131 thanks for the help
vorrei essere stato lì >.
@Lizco93 it's a piece of tape, if i'm not wrong he has a piece of tape there to prevent the high E string from getting caught on the humbucker.
Máster 🤘🏻🎸🇻🇪
I swear the first piece that is on here sounds like a version of Villanova Junction at Woodstock by Jimi's Gypsy's, Sun's, and Rainbow's Band as he calls them. One of the truly beautiful handful of songs that Jimi played. Like Stevie Ray Vaughan, he never played a song the same way twice, from night-to-night. I would LOVE to hear Steve Via play a version of this based on the Woodstock version and NOT the other available versions that are good, but IMO not AS good. GREAT MUSIC STEVE!
@wingnutofcoolness love Morse. have you seen the vid on here of him playing little wing with steve lukather?
ending kinda sounded like halo... i'm so glad he was in that soundtrack
That Jack Butler,he a real good guitar player \m/
