I Remember watching this the other day. Nobody can afford to be out of contact in your Austin Rover / BL car without a telephone. It’s worth every penny having a phone in one’s Aust Rover car lol. Just lovely. Splendid.

Fast forward to the late 2000s; and conference calls were being used to connect half a dozen takeaways together.

It must have been so exciting to discover this technological leap forward, which we now take for granted.

UniqueAir a Unipart company via AT&T via their subsidiary Bell Comms. Lol. Simple , easy and trouble free. It sounds so good and just look at the quality phone support.

I wonder if the one recommended by Austin Rover was the same as all the other ones but with an AR badge on; or were paid a handsome sum to reccomend😊 it.

Ahh, the good old days when people used to pull over to the side of the road to use their phone 😄

1:11 "but to use them we have to be where they are and that can present a problem" Exactly, and you can't really put your car in a back pocket can you? Hopefully some clever folk will come up with a way of making phones properly portable.... Joking aside, an interesting look back at how things were, and how much things have changed in a little under 40 years-seems to have flown past!

Everyone spoke so British. Just such a wonderful video. Splendid. Everything was trifling.

While you watch the video pushing a cellular network invented by Americans (Motorola TACS) and serviced by an American MVNO (8:12).

Ah … yes! When England was still England. Thank goodness they didn’t bring those Caribbeans, back in the 60’s, as cheap labour. Continued legacy I guess 😂

@@straightpipedieselAncestrally speaking, aren't even "Americans" in actuality derived from Anglo Saxon descendants??
