Holy cow! You'd think it would be easy to put together a game like this nowadays with all the engines and plugins, but this devlog has shown perfectly that it's not. Huge respect for your dedication, this game will kick ass and I can't wait to buy and play it :) One question: Do you use any versioning system for your game, like GIT? or are you using cloud services like google drive or dropbox at the moment?
Hey, thanks! Most of the tools provided by the engine should work fine with enough tinkering. I just chose the harder route and custom-made a large part of it. I hope it won't backfire in the future. :'D As for version control, I just zip the whole project (around 600 MB) and name it with the current date. I keep the previous 3 versions locally. I do this before working on a new feature or planning to modify something. The latest zip is always online on Google Drive for Oszkár to download it. For now it is good enough. We work on completely separate parts of the game, so there are no merge conflicts. He can just copy the maps into the new project. In the future we may switch to Git for quicker file sharing! :)
i just want to write a comment that at least one sprite for the bullet type that appears next to the number of ammo you still have resembles Bio Menace for me, is the project influenced by it at all or am i just imagining things? either way, i hope this will come out and be a successful venture!
Haha! you have a good eye! Bio menace is one of many inspirations behind the game, mainly in the HUD :D Thank you, I'll try my best to keep everyone updated!
