    I got the same 4 way wedge as you but i lucked out and it fit my 27 ton black diamond. That 4 way wedge is a game changer to me.im also a welder so worth the risk lol

    Great Video Travis! I had to modify that same wedge on my old Huskee splitter. I was able to cut the welds also to make it work but I was able to keep the top piece intact so that it would stay attached and not come off when splitting. I found that the additional two small wedges really were not big enough to split the wood in four piece’s liked I’d hoped. Stopped using it. Stay Safe, Continue Stacking, Keep Cuttin!🪵🪵🪵🪵

      I think you point of keeping the top intact and just bending it up (which I assume you did) would have been the better plan...didn't think that far ahead. And yes, I agree Chad - the wings aren't big enough to really split into four separate pieces. I've seen others weld longer pieces to the horizontals to actually make it split. We'll see what I can do with it. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

    Cut it where you did in last video then cut it not on the top where it turns down but below where it’s welded to the horizontal strap. That way to turn down backs the 4 way out and does not stick in the split wood that’s what I did, and it works perfectly

      Not following you, Dan, but sounds like you know what you're talk about. If you have a minute, feel free to email me a diagram and I'll see what I can do: warrint@gmail.com. Many thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

    Thanks for trying this and making the video. I had also wondered if this were possible as those 4-ways are fairly cheap and readily available at TS.
    As someone else said: don't be afraid to learn welding; it's a valuable skill to have, especially when doing experimental projects like this one. Watch some UA-cams, get a welder, (stick, plus MIG), start with stick, practice on some scraps, then weld on a strap to this 4-way before you decide not to use it. And film it, please! 😁

    Hey hey 27 tons says it'll fit awesome bud thanks for giving my idea a try. After you add some strap metal to it so it's secure to your machine I think it will work well. Don't be afraid of trieng to weld it your self that's how alot of us learned how to do it just by getting hands on never hurts to watch a UA-cam vid of how to weld it's actually not very hard.Good luck buddy hope this helps

    You're changing the overall length of your ram through ! It could ruin the splitter?

    • @TravisDoesFirewood
      @TravisDoesFirewood  8 місяців тому

      You have a great point, Steven! Because when I add the 4-way over the single wedge, it adds to the overall length of the ram. However, I don't usually extend the ram that far anyway, you only need to put the wedge into the round until it 'pops' to be split enough. Great eye, thanks for pointing that out. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

    Put a block in the splitter and use the splitters hydraulics to fix the issue, Welding is fairly easy to learn with wire feed setup with flux core. Find some one to barter with to do your welding and teach you the basics. I am a master of modifying thing,I am a cheap skate lol

    Idk man looks a little scary, id get a welder person to put some modified strap back on it, maybe long enough to reach the bolt on your wedge where it couples to the rod, maybe get a longer bolt so that the 4 way can bolt to it, of course that makes it a pain to take it off. 😂 either way, be safe my guy
