Would love to see better parking at the Observation Tower. There needs to be more space between the two rows of parked cars and there needs to be more parking. But all in all, RDU gets a thumbs up! Very nice airport.
We came in at RDU after a 18 hrs flight from Frankfurt Germany via ORD. What an AP! Wide and spacey, full of daylight and with pleasant coloring of wood in the constructions. However more direct connections to Europe, especially Germany would be appreciated. Why don't you make an offer to Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian as well as Condor and TUI, the German vacation airlines? North Carolina, with all its heritage, is worth a vacation!
Parking at Fast Park provides shuttle service directly from your car to the terminals. MUCH LESS WALKING than any RDU parking facility! I only hope that any light rail project includes a stop at RDU. It would be awesome to park at one of the Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh lots and be whisked to the airport.
we need direct flights to the middle east and become a bigger international hub. It would increase traffic and revenue heavily because the traffic would be directed away from jfk. You would be cutting time down for travelers and increase revenue for the state. You have millions of people going for business out of RTP and in general thats where your expansion should be going. start making plans with etihad, emirates, and qatar. grow with your state!
A small, walkable airport hotel probably a good investment too you know. It would save passengers money by not needing to use a taxi or other means to reach a hotel in case they need to stay overnight near the airport.
I can’t imagine it’s out of the question! RDU has some of the highest demand to Asia out of all US airports that don’t have nonstop service to Asia. Indianapolis was allegedly in talks with Japan Airlines back In 2019 and 2020
20 years for an upgrade like this sounds crazy. I mean they can literally complete this "Master plan" in a span of 5 years. It's just North Carolina being North Carolina. Extremely laid back southern culture.
Not necessarily. This project will cost $4 billion and isn’t needed now. They are currently doing environmental evaluations and it will take 3 years to simply construct the new runway. Each section of the terminal expansion will take 2-3 years each and they can’t remove 10 gates from service at once
They plan to extend it out a little bit. They altered the plan in 2020 for terminal 1 to instead have 21 gates instead of 13 gates planned. Will be in more of a y shape
I like DFW DESIGN.. IT EASY TO HAVE EACH TERMINAL FOR PLANE.. IT WOULD BE LESS TRAFFIC.. AND NEED TO PICK UP PASSAGERS TO DROP OTHER PLACE FOR TAXI, UBER, LYFT AND RENTAL BUS ..
They plan to add up to 12 gates in the upcoming years (if necessary) but so far, 4 gates will be put back into service and may expand check-in to go over the road
i’ve been all over the world. This is the nicest airport i’ve ever been too. Glad to call raleigh home.
It’ll be very interesting to see what this airport will look like when I’m grown up. Currently 15..
same
Currently 12 very interested
currently 16 very interested
currently 14 hope i’ll still be around to see it, hopefully some a380s
so Excited!
God knows how much I miss this airport and my days at Duke

Great airport. Beautiful terminal!

Great video! The changes look very useful and well thought out
How is airport expansion more useful than simply having more flights from 1 am to 6 am to spread out the daily flow better?

I love spotting and filming at RDU.
Me too
North Carolina, with all its heritage, is worth a vacation!
worked out pretty good :)
Nice video! Lots of love for RDU! I live near here and go plane spotting all the time:) What is the first song used in this video?
It would be great if more airline lounges were added to RDU. It sucks only having the Delta SkyClub and American Admiral's Club there.

sahil ali and Latin America!
woah woah emirates and qatar? let rdu stay a semi small airport, its so easy to get around if it was like jfk that would be hectic
I do love my home airport! So which airline is gonna claim it as their next hub?

I'm considering becoming an ATC so you guys better be hiring in 10 years.
In 4 years
The seat belt light is on... the plan has hit 2020 turbulence!!
reminds me so much of Miami's Concourse D
You need a better microphone. It sounds like you're sitting at the desk in your office using the built-in mic on your laptop.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Sounds fine to me
Stfu
I just want RDU to fly to Tokyo
I can’t imagine it’s out of the question! RDU has some of the highest demand to Asia out of all US airports that don’t have nonstop service to Asia. Indianapolis was allegedly in talks with Japan Airlines back In 2019 and 2020
they should put a chick fil a in there

Can you tell me what background music is?
I like it

I've worked at RDU for 22 years. The airport has more money than sense.@@GoalHornGeek
Maybe start with updating terminal 1 so more airlines other than southwest can be there too
Terminal 1 will be expanded with another wing. Most budget airlines will move to Terminal 1 when it is completed.
Yeah they need to move lost cost carriers over aka Frontier JetBlue Spirit and Allegiant
Great production...but no renewable energy solutions are mentioned.
Will it finish in 2040 or earlier
Kareem Haidary Much earlier, decades earlier, that just the name.
@KenDroid66 yea I guess, sure but they already doing construction for this plan already.
After they finish this they gotta do something with terminal one because all terminal one is is a rectangle box
They plan to extend it out a little bit. They altered the plan in 2020 for terminal 1 to instead have 21 gates instead of 13 gates planned. Will be in more of a y shape
noo they moved it away from the observation deck

Is this the narrator from alux?
No. The narrator was the person in charge of attracting new flights at the time
Going to Washington d.c
is this going to come in year 2040 of is it just a name?
just a name
so when is AA gonna get rid of the MD-80?
STOP RDU QUARRY! Write your NCGA reps and ask the state to take control of the land from RDU
Expand the heckling southwest terminal
They plan to add up to 12 gates in the upcoming years (if necessary) but so far, 4 gates will be put back into service and may expand check-in to go over the road
Geez why can’t clt expansion vid be like this
Lol Ikr
They have a number of videos on their channel, here is the main one: ua-cam.com/video/n31G1dNqddQ/v-deo.html
Do not let airbus a380 come there it will take up to much space
Until Covid hit, then we all lost our jobs at rdu Lol.
