Most modern fans and basketball "analysts" can't understand why MJ was so dominant because they never saw him play. So rather than going back and studying game film, they try to belittle Jordan's competition instead. Thats why I love these types of videos. Now fans can see the technical attention to detail that went into everything he did on the floor. Hopefully more people will come to appreciate how hard he worked to perfect his craft.
And the thing that always always ALWAYS gets me with these highlights is the defenders are playing damn good defense 8 times outta 10 and still getting torched.
@Ris3Up85 ... You have no clue as to what you are talking about. You base your argument on numbers only but don't take everything else into account. G.O.A.T status is about every facet, not just numbers. Why can't Lebron play off the ball? Why does he cherry-pick rebounds and assists? Why is his freethrow shooting spotty? Why is his defense weak? Why does he not have a more complete post game? Why is his midrange jumper mediocre? I could go on and on kid!
Unless you actually play ball, you won't understand how hard it is to be consistent at re-creating your moves from either side of the court. Most players have go to moves that they can mostly do from a specific area on the court. Example, when some players drive right they can't fade away the same or step back the same or vice versa. MJ was able to do everything from anywhere which takes tons of technical skills.
I don’t play much basketball but my experience in martial arts would be something similar in the sense that I’m stronger and more efficient with techniques on a certain side. Some guys are good at both sides but those are likely guys getting paid to do it.
I just found this video and I've watched it at least 5 times already and I just now noticed that he doesn't simply keep the ball high, it looks like he's actually using the ball pickup motion as momentum to get more lift on his jump. If you delete the ball from all these fade aways or just imagine that the ball is not there it looks like the type of arm swing motion you would normally use to increase your vertical jump. Michael Jordan is a basketball savant. No one comes close. #MicroSkills indeed. I love this freaking game so freaking much.
he was astoundingly efficient. look at the all-time points vs all-time turnover rankings. all the points leaders are similarly ranked in turnovers, usually within a few spots. Except two. MJ and Kareen.
not to mention the fact that the defenders were using some dirty tricks like the elbow tap, and pushing the hips while in the air while he was shooting, and its pretty amazing that he wasnt injured with the speed he moved in the positions he was in doing some of these moves
These fadeways were the hardest moves to emulate (other than the insane things he did above the rim of course). Even without defenders on you, it takes so much strength and hang time if you were at any decent range. Many times his actually release point was near the college 3 point line while falling away. That's just insane.
It’s nice to see real basketball fans who want to understand how Jordan was good. There are so many who try to pretend that Jordan was just in a “bad era” without studying any film.

Wait due to his off ball game MJ had the ball in his hands for ONLY 3MINS & 45 SEC A GAME AND STILL AVERAGED CLOSE TO 30PPG IN 98??? WHAT!?!! THATS INSANITY!!!
Yeah exactly, yet young guns think he was a ball hog. MJ was the most deadly weapon on a basketball court. On both ends. MJ gave up a lot of his game to get others involved and win championships.
master of disaster Exactly. Mj was like a computer out on the court analyzing the floor, he could do it all and switch it up on a dime. It’s just crazy to think that he averaged close to 30PPG at the age of 35 with his OFF THE BALL GAME while playing in a more physical/defensive era and while being the number 1 option and without having another teammate that demanded double teams, plus playing in the Triangle System which reduced his stats. All of that in 98 while having the ball in his hands FOR ONLY 3MINS & 45 SEC A GAME. That’s pretty incredible but I’m not surprised because it’s MJ we’re talking about here lol, he could do it all on the court.
Josh yeah I could go on all day but most people just don’t get it, good to see some do like yourself. To add to what you said Jordan would analyse his teams weaknesses. They never had a dominant big man in the Bulls in a big man dominant era. Jordan was literally the low post threat and became one of the most lethal low post players as a shooting guard which is unheard of, especially with handchecking and no defensive 3 second. Dean Smith actually said Jordan’s best position was point guard. Jordan did fill that role once for an injured Paxson and had 10 triple doubles in 11 games. His stats during that stint were ridiculous. Jordan however just adapted his game to suit whatever the team needed. In his case, efficient scoring option who will take over when needed especially in the 4th, low post threat, lock down defender. This allowed the triangle offence to flow and Scottie to run the point which was his most useful role.
master of disaster Exactly bro!! Glad to know you get it! Yes I’m very aware of MJ’s short stint at the PG position for those 24 games and how he almost averaged a TD in those 24 games, and had he played at the PG position from the start of that season he would’ve averaged a TD for the season! And you’re right, Dean Smith did say that MJ could of been and would have been the greatest PG had he started and stayed at that position from the beginning of his NBA career. No surprise that MJ’s nickname in his HS and College days was Magic lol. But yes what was truly impressive and ridiculous was that Mj was in essence/played the part of A DOMINANT BIG for his team because he was a master in the post and because he was a master on defense when he would help out on defense against the opposing team center as a 6’6 SHOOTING GUARD like you said smh just ridiculous!! There’s really no comparison lol and MJ is clearly on a different level then anyone else. Will we someday see a better player? Maybe but as of now I haven’t witnessed anyone better/greater then Mj or even close to him when it comes to the game of basketball
master of disaster Perfectly said bro! Efficient scoring option who will take over when needed especially in the 4th, low post threat, lock down defender which allowed the triangle offense to flow! Perfectly said bro! Facts!
8:41 Look how he hooks Penny's leg with his step too! Penny wasn't killed by this as much as most people would be. If you're doing this on a non-NBA player they're gonna be toast.
Great attention to detail with the right foot getting slightly ahead of the left plant foot on the over the left shoulder fade that was a Golden detail
Lol. Also his hulk smash bulldozer offensive fouls, elbow smash clear outs. The nuance is that the league refuses to call it on him for his career. Kids if you want to learn how to play real b-ball you have to look at the old school. look at Magic, Jordan, Bird and their students like Kobe. This era is not real bball, it resembles Harlem Globetrotters style exhibition games. Anynleague that doesn’t flow it’s own rules tomfavor one or two “superstars” with limited bag, is a league in decline. Videos like this truly exposes todays game for what it is. Thank you.
@James Robert it doesn't matter where AI got all of his moves, he's one of the greatest pound for pound players to ever play in any sport. He used his quickness and athletic abilities to make up for his size. If Iverson with his same game was 6' 4"-6' 5"...then he's easily top 5 in history. Now the way that he imulated Jordan is the way he moved around the court and the spots that he used as a 5'10", 165 lbs point guard to attack the defense.
Anyone saying that MJ has small defenders, bro, he's a 2, it's not his fault that he is 6'6" SG. Also, if you watch how he plays, he creates those plays, he always moves around and does not let his defenders get near him, and most guys at his size or bigger can not catch him with his speed and agile movements. That's why he is called the Black Cat. Imagine Iverson, with his quickness, then make him 6'6, and that's MJ. If a taller player guarded MJ, they'll be left in the dust, that's why teams on his Era let their PG guard MJ because they were the only ones fast enough to catch up with him. Stephen Curry's off ball movement? Amazing right? MJ did that before him, just like other great scorers did, but MJ did it the best at his Era, that's why he is unguardable. @@cyberpunkalphamale Not saying your opinion is invalid but I disagree. Lebron would still be great but I think his scoring would be down and he'd be forced to be a better jump shooter. Mentally Lebron in quarters 1-3 Lebron is tough but tends to be too passive on the offensive end in crunch time much to his team's detriment. Again, im not saying he wouldnt still be great, but i dont think people would be comparing him to MJ.

@@cyberpunkalphamale Are you on crack? Spacing in the 90's was literally non existent. Players were packed around the paint like sardines. Lebron has a much easier time finding open teammates without having his passes interfered with today than he ever would have in the 90's.

In 2016, they came back after bougut got hurt and there was no rim protector. 2007, young Duncan caused lebron to shoot 35% from the field.
While any NBA player can possess impressive physical attributes, such as strength and speed, the unique combination of cat-like reflexes, unparalleled balance, and mid-air adjustments that allows a player to excel at the highest levels of the game is a rare and exceptional skill set that only a select few possess. These abilities enable a player to make split-second decisions and adjustments while in motion, enabling them to outmaneuver opponents and make incredible plays that leave fans in awe.
@PureSweatBasketball Would you mind doing a series on Kobe Bryant? (obviously he patented most of his game after MJ's so the content would be similar - but it'd be nice to study nonetheless)
Maan you simply don't see Bronny do any of that! He just goes to the right or left, pushing the defender till he gets to the rim. See all these MJ movements in Slo-mo, you can tell how hard they are and how much understanding of the game + physical strength is required. It's really laughable when someone tries to compare LBJ or any other guy to MJ.
@@aidanhowell7910 The style was similar, but if you look closely at their games, they were different. Kobe had more of a crossover streetball style, and a very poor shot selection overall. In my opinion. But he did copy many of his moves
Kobe yeah is close and identical to Jordan’s moves but the difference is pretty obvious, Jordan make it all seemed so easy but fundamentally sound, no wasted dribbles, while Kobe’s moves especially his fadeaway were sometimes “forced”... Jordan didnt looked like he forced those jumpers neither any of his moves... he did look like hes doing it effortlessly, but if you dissect it youll see every move every footwork is more detailed than it meets the eye...
Kobe used more pump fakes & fakes in general, half spins, shot & took more tougher 3s that was hit or miss at times and tended to hold the ball more using more jabsteps to size up his defender. A lot of Kobe moves were slower & predetermined like he practiced every arsenal he can to use against his opponent. Jordan moves were more calculated & did every move in a quicker & more decisive way. It’s all subjective, can’t say what Kobe did was worse or wrong to do cause MJ used similar ISO moves but MJ was more effective with his moves. But what really made MJ more effective at times than Kobe was his offball game. MJ was more active off the ball than Kobe by cutting to the rim more often, shooting those C&S midrange shots like Rip Hamilton and setting screens like a big to get himself & his teammates open shots. Kobe sometimes would move without the ball like MJ but their were many times Kobe would stand idly at the top of the 3 or corner with his hand on his knees, MJ was like Curry & Klay constantly being active off the ball never just standing around in the offense
The main difference of MJ to other great player and great shooter in the history that separates him to others is his will confidence to make the shot no matter how difficult the situation is..
These bronsexuals commenting on this episode and on the other ones in the series regaring the - in their opinion -lack of defense. R u kidding me? Are they watching the same clips? Those shots are close to being and 1 majority of the time. That is how contested these shots are and he still makes them.
The fans of this era think that he can only do these moves on less athletic guys aka plumbers, but yet he's doing these fadeaways on athletic players like Penny, Clyde and also on Marion when he was 39 yrs old.
@@sebiscuit5079 Well Jordan could also be a playmaker, but he just didn't specialise in it. He played a total of 41 games as a point guard, averaged 32.2 points, 9.4 assists and 8.3 rebounds. He is a better scorer and defender than LeBron too.
I did alot of workout for core. But the best by far for me. Dribble basketball at a low pose. Your upper abs will get really strong and hand grip plus arm strength. Do it for 30 minutes. Just dribble. Tell me how you like it.
that's what I'll always said always said to Kobe Bryant and guys have some of his fade away but his repertoire of fadeaways was so extensive that they didn't have all of them... Dude fadeaways that are Lost art haven't been done since Jordanso I said Kobe Bryant didn't have all the variety of of fade away Jordan had too many different ones
Is MJ all legs small torso. So much my the moves and fadeaway fakes his legs go out so far. Seems like he able able to exaggerate it very far also because of how damn low he got.
Most of these shots the defender barely has their hand on Jordan and if they do they not even putting force 🤔 OGs love to say their hand checking was way more intense than today’s 😂
Considerably more intense. These are a handful of clips. Most of the hand checking people are referencing occurred around the perimeter or at the initiation of a drive to the basket. Prior to the elimination of the hand checking rule there were only two players under 6'-5" to win the MVP and they were Bob Cousy and Allen Iverson. After hand checking was eliminated there have been 6 winners under 6'-5". Nash twice, Derek Rose, Steph Curry twice, and Russell Westbrook. The game is different.
How intense?? Like the olè olè olè.. of today?? Lol don't let the short shorts fool you!! Last time i checked Scottie didn't push MJ.. or bird pushes mchale to play defense😂

Mike’s leg kicks were used like a cheetah uses its tail to balance/change direction while moving at speed. Basically a rudder.
You forgot about Kobe ;)
@@HectorSaulify I had the same reaction but for Bron
Kobe sometimes would move without the ball like MJ but their were many times Kobe would stand idly at the top of the 3 or corner with his hand on his knees, MJ was like Curry & Klay constantly being active off the ball never just standing around in the offense
god bless u
MJ is the master of fundamentals.
Now I see why they hated him. It’s like the defenders were soooo close to blocking it every time.
Thats a lot squat exercise to be able to do it
MJ is the only dude that did a really pronounced fadeaway
SMH when idiots say that LeBron Bron can do all of this :DDDD
Doesn’t matter LeBron is literally better at basketball and every real basketball player knows this.
@@luka5465 nope
LeBron is literally able to do this just not as good cause he doesn't specialise in it
@@sebiscuit5079 Well Jordan could also be a playmaker, but he just didn't specialise in it. He played a total of 41 games as a point guard, averaged 32.2 points, 9.4 assists and 8.3 rebounds. He is a better scorer and defender than LeBron too.
Are you able to explain how to better your core strength as you describe. Like what can you do to improve that actual core strength.
James Robert cool thanks will add it to my arsenal.
I did alot of workout for core. But the best by far for me. Dribble basketball at a low pose. Your upper abs will get really strong and hand grip plus arm strength. Do it for 30 minutes. Just dribble. Tell me how you like it.
@@supercatforever I will try it tomorrow and let you know. Although, I can already envision it and what you say makes sense.
Hey coach! How can i feel the defender to know which direction to fade?
When you play relaxed like your playing a child the game comes easy.
Can someone please tell me what the meaning of the terms “shot pocket” and “square up” is?
The left leg kick is so difficult, as a right handed shooter
jordan favors the left pivot foot because he's right handed. it makes sense.
Lil’ mini Dream Shake on Clyde at 11:21. MJ did pick Olajuwon as his all-time starting center. Just sayin’
that's what I'll always said always said to Kobe Bryant and guys have some of his fade away but his repertoire of fadeaways was so extensive that they didn't have all of them... Dude fadeaways that are Lost art haven't been done since Jordanso I said Kobe Bryant didn't have all the variety of of fade away Jordan had too many different ones
What the hell are you talkin about? Kobe actually is more polished than Jordan
@@scarykurapika100yago2 no he's not
@@victor11218 well he is. ask phil jackson
Kobe had more variation, MJ hung in the air on his turnaround & fadaways so he can get off those shots easier
These videos prove kobe isn't more skilled or polished.
@dreamerspro 98’ he averaged 30 while possessing the ball for 3 min and 45 seconds…incredible efficiency
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
9:42 Poor David Wesley #4 😂
That was possible because of the high jump and the glove. :) And it's impossible to match that, for a regular size player.
2:48
I know that Reggie Miller was good moveing off the ball who else besides curry and Reggie
7:25
😍
wouuuuuuu
Could you Kobe Bryant next. Thanks
Why? It's the same moves...
Jesus Loves you and wants you to accept him as your Lord and saviour
Is MJ all legs small torso. So much my the moves and fadeaway fakes his legs go out so far. Seems like he able able to exaggerate it very far also because of how damn low he got.
Them steroids crazy dude got like 40 inches on his fader
And they say LeBron is better 😂
How you about mention one move that LeBron has in his Bag thats been unguardable like MJ fadaway 🤔
ther is now james Lebron
Can’t learn anything from a crackerjack…. Nothing to see here
Most of these shots the defender barely has their hand on Jordan and if they do they not even putting force 🤔 OGs love to say their hand checking was way more intense than today’s 😂
Your comment really just shows you have no idea what you're talking about lol. You really need to study up more.
Eric Lawson excellent point
How intense?? Like the olè olè olè.. of today?? Lol don't let the short shorts fool you!! Last time i checked Scottie didn't push MJ.. or bird pushes mchale to play defense😂
James Robert 😂
