Great vid. Still no full dark mode support. I mean come on Google.
Click on your google profile in the google maps app, scroll to navigation settings, scroll until you see Map Display and and you can choose automatic, day and or night

Warning for those of us with multiple identities, the settings, etc you access are BELOW all the identities you have on your phone, just keep scrolling. You'll get there.

Yes, I have 10. Mostly for gmail so I can have specific emails for projects, but they still show up everywhere.

Love all the features of Goggle maps including all the services and API's this is why we use it for all our business tools, lots of people say use open street map, but the Google experience is so much better to work with
I think they should add a few more features, I'm still not confused enough
I use Google maps all the time. I like when they bring up the Mario Cart once a year. Would be nicer if you could buy the car or many other car choices for a couple bucks. Even change the lines to your destination. Make google maps more user friendly with being able to swap a few destination in whatever order you find best.
I sure hope they so more to improve and make Google maps a more fun and better experience.

Sad that Google doesn't implement a HUD mode where the display would switch to a large next turn graphic with mileage countdown and maybe current speed/speed limit all mirror flipped so you could just sit your phone on the dash or in a cradle pointed at the windshield giving you the best low distraction driving experience.
Good presentation thx, I use maps consistently for work from home on windows 10 PC just getting back after COVID , now when I click on a business I need info on other similar businesses pop up in a side swipe scroll on the bottom blocking the map, how do you get rid of that or stop it?
Josh, great insights as I've discovered all the weaknesses of GARMIN (on my Honda) over the past decade! Google maps takes the best of Garmin, even of Triple AAA triptiks and paper maps (I'm an old guy!) and adds notes, events and ratings to make a great trip a true joy to plan, revise and evaluate. Yes, there's a bit of a learning curve here, but worth it if you want to enjoy traveling! Do wish you could do on an Iphone all you can on a laptop, but I'm still very satisfied. Thanks.

If you are on samsungs one ui, use hex installer and choose google maps as 3rd party app to force dark mode ;)

i love google maps more than apple maps it's way better but the only reason why i use apple maps is because Apple maps says "on the next light turn right" when google maps says "in 250 feet turn right"
i have a question... ive noticed the navigation will give you directions to "avoid turning left" in some areas. example: a local road that comes to a stoplight to two left turn lanes, right turning lane with a straight to merge onto i95 N. when you navigate to go across the overpass it won't let you. (as if there is not a left turning lane but i knowthere is.) it tell you to turn right & then turn around. is this because they are trying to avoid you turning left at intersections like these?

What of I want to navigate maps with out a location like a GPS? So it can be always on? I'm a truck driver.
Google can use other proximity data to find your location. It'll work especially well if you have the maps downloaded ahead of time. They can use cell towers as well as public WiFi you pass by to also help determine your location when a GPS signal for some reason isn't available.
you cant change distance unit in "messure distance"only in miles not kilometers
where are the 3 lines menu option that used to sit in the search bar???
it contained the "start driving" option which is basically the only thing i used google maps for

Great video; thanks. How about a video on Android Auto? Question: On Google Maps, I know I can save the location I am at to Google Favorites on the phone but is there any way to save to my Android phone contacts? Again, thanks for the most-informative video.
When you've selected a location make sure to make the location card go full screen. Tap the three dot menu at the top right and choose "add to contacts".

My Phone updated to the new Google Maps, (automatic updates), a short time ago.
The first thing, was to ask me if I liked the new icon - which I very much do 👌.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, great question on the photos, that is something Google Maps will ask you permission for first I believe.
And not sure about live view in main buildings like malls, but id assume if it's not already there, it's on the roadmap.

commute has gone and replaced with go what has past places visited/searched and no more live view
I have been searching for some kind of direction on how to create a map in the google map app. I have an IPad and IPhone. Everything that I watched and or read so far always sends me to “your places’ in the drop down tab than over to “maps” and in the “maps” tab there is supposed to be a button that I can press in order to create a map that I will be able to write on and map notes and draw my route. However, on both of my devices I get to the “maps’ section and there is not button to press that says create map, there is simply no option for it at all. I have even gone to google maps on my web browser and its not there either. Did google remove this option? Or is there something that I am missing? Please Help

Where is the 'Driving mode' in new version.?
Google maps has completely deserted my PC. It just says Google Maps can't reach the internet. Check the internet connection and try again. Now as I'm on my PC all day and it's working all the time and I can't talk to Google I don't know what the problem is. All I have (apart from the message on the side of the page) is a blanc space. ANY IDEAS. It has affected my other PC and my phone.
I use my google maps alot since I do uber and I have been noticing that it is not reading the street names like before, how can I fix this??

Anyone having issue with calibration??? I can't calibrate properly ....this is what I tried
a. Uninstall app
b. Clear cookies/cache
c. Figure 8 motion with phone for calibration

I feel like I've had this maps for nearly half a year now...
Some of the components you see in the new tabs existed before this new app rollout, but many were not featured as prominently in the user interface as they are in the new version. If you had the 5 sections before though, you might have had an early access version? Not sure.

I don’t like the new google appt for navigation I can get turn by turn voice plus the routes are not as accurate as the old map

Thank you for video! Helpful! But I think video should be more shorter. Just juice, 1 change bla bla. 2 change bla bla and all video about 5 minutes, without additional words. Worst upgrade ever. How can I get rid of all the garbage I never use at the bottom of the screen plus the annoying tabs at the top. Can I go back to the previous Google maps on my android phone. Or please suggest a good alternative map quest?

I see it like this we are so backwards I would of thought 2020 you can go to Google maps or some other company would make it possible to look like GTA the new one but real streets with terrain that shows without live traffic only for the safety of everyone hint predators & screamers etc but aside from all that it should look like the year not the lack of intelligence they need to make it possible I know it'll be 2120 by the time that's possible I'm just saying I know the haters will back me on this one
