Put the all fuel tanks up front! On a small craft like this, the difference between the Wet CoM and Dry CoM is a big factor. When you are landing the liquid fuel will be mostly gone, so the CoM will have move slightly forward, toward the fixed masses of the battery and the Pilot. Putting the tanks up front will inverse this, causing the CoM to slide backwards when you need that most.
Could it have been cause by the forward two fuel tanks in the storage compartment still having fuel? Maybe try having them drain firs then the main tank. It’s a guess though I didn’t see if you had set them up to drain first or not. Good luck though!
You could've put a pair of RTGs on there and not have to have worried about running out of electricity, and perhaps a couple of the tiny .625m RWs as well to help with flipping around. Also, you could've put a pair of Airbrakes rotated 180 degrees where the service bay hinges were at to force a huge drag spike ahead of CoM to assist in flipping the craft over.
Ummm.... as long as you have been playing KSP don't you know about the stable rover hack, to lower the center of gravity on a rover (Making it more stable )place a jet engine on it (Jets facing upwards) to put the center of gravity as low as possible. In KSP the jet engines have a center of mass in front of the actual part. In the SPH place an Okto 2, show the mass and place a jet engine on it, the "MASS" of the jet will throw the CoM marker IN FRONT of the probe. (Except the "Goliath") That is why you are having problems lifting the nose. Try deploying the kerbals chute (While still in the seat) to get the nose UP.
Helicopter blades don't register they're stowed, either. Actually wait, maybe the game thought it was outside the service bay. There is a little space the game thinks is outside the bay even when it's in-between 2 bays. And you should never try to fit sensors neatly on the flat walls of a service bay, because the game will think they're outside too. I *hate* trying to land with jet engines! XD There's so much turbine lag, with the RAPIER being the worst.

Just use rcs build aid, this mod shows vessel's dCoM
2:40 for future reference, you *CAN* deploy the EVA parachute while sitting in the command chair.
Yes and if he place the elevon rear it could work fine
"she's reaching her g limit already" vaos 2022
Could you use robotics to swivel the engine? One more part, yes. But if you MUST flip, then that is one way to do it!
TWO more parts because he needs KAL
@@amisimonFor something like this you can just bind the servo/hinge to an action group like the one for RCS
Any successful SSTO is quite an achievement. But to make one so tiny, that's really amazing!
LMAO, VAOS fiddling with the mic had me lmao all the way thru the video. Love this stuff!
My sides hurt from laughter. ( and i spilt my beer )....Great vid
Her coming out of that unscathed and immediately standing tall and proud sent me
"wut", the German word for rage :D - Thanks again for another cool KSP video. Stable orbits o7
I started to just die at 4:54 when you just started experiencing all 5 stages of "YES! NO!"YES!" *NO!*" over and over
Someone stole a SSTO's engine nacelle and turned it into a one kerbal transporter
I came for SSTO tips, stayed for the editing and laughter xD Brilliant video!
The last image of the pilot at 5:00 looks like Elmo
That last picture of Val looked like Elmo
You have made the F-104 Starfighter of SSTOs, even including the high mortality rate. :p
This is a SSSTO
Smol SSTO
+timing a suicide burn, AND having to deal with jet lag at the same time. got to be the craziest thing i've seen here.
Short and fun. Good work!
Under no circumstances should you use a parachute.
yes
I am always so exited to see you content, you are a legendary youtuber, glad to be a part of space cult
i had such a blsat watching, i love the format and the editing so much. thank you for another great video vaos 💜💜💜💜
Who knew flags created so much drag
aww its so adowable
I didn't know such a small ssto was possible!
Idea: paraglider SSTO
You forgot that the fuel weight disappears and that the Kerbal has a weight too

You couldve deployed the pilots parachute while she was still in the seat and went for water instead of land
Maybe you can use the giant drag from the flag to stabilise your decent?
i love how u dont edit some things out, like the start
use the parachute in the kerbal to flip and ditch the flaps, more mass!
Parachutes not allowed 😎
Any reason to not just use a parachute for landing?
To easy 😎
In KSP, any crash you can walk away from is a successful landing.
I was not expecting the *ASS* reverberation

she's still alive!
Are parachutes allowed?
neeooo
Thanks you Rock :)
and that's why I don't use rapiers for my landing stages
How did she land on her feet? That was amazing!
Perhaps some of the kerbals are GMO by cats.
I guess adding a parachute would've been too easy?
Parachute means more weight
not allowed 🚫
2:46 why didn't you use the IVA parachute?
*Uses Tweakscale to make it even tinier*
air brakes
Awesome!
Vaos ksp late at night what could be better also can you release craft files for your pocket fighter?
one day
WOW.
Couldnt you have used the parachute?
not allowed 🚫
You can't swear in the first 30 seconds or it'll get demonized
2:59 yes this does counts as a success because no one died yet
you need to have the elevator further away from the center of mass or it wont elevate!

That actually wasn’t the problem at all. But great guess anyway 😎👍
Wow this is pretty tiny.
That's what she said ;)
@@khyron6 sad :(

This flag control screen is so cute!
You might get away with using a smaller intake for this purpose?
Reply for a link to the new VAOS unofficial discord
Smol boi
You should have just entered the atmosphere backwards instead of trying to flip around right before landing.
you are the best
