Whenever I hear someone say that men and women should be treated as equals, I always want to ask: "in what?" Men and women are physiologically different. Their brains function differently. This means that, generally speaking, each gender has a tendency to excel in different fields and in different things.
This isn't sexism. This is biology.
Should I treat men and women BOTH with dignity and respect? Yes. Should I give men and women the same opportunities? Definitely. Do I believe that both sexes will perform the same tasks given to them, be they physical and/or psychological? Generally, no. But both should be allowed to equally try.
I advocate equality of opportunity, not equality of outcomes.

But the thing is- the reason is that they should be created with the same diligence and respect. Every human should be treated with the same mentality of equality. It seems that you don’t apprehend what things are at loss for the women of humanity; from murder, child brides, poverty, et cetera. That- if not implied often enough to you- is the definitive basis of feminism. The knowing of different biological states- although irrefutable; is in no way ever an excuse to contradict the contradiction of all of the grim things listed above. Feminism, is not a phantasm to be denied, simply because you are willing to accredit it being philosophically implausible. It has never been; nor is ensuing directly as an implication of bringing upon the same structure of everything. It is simply a supplication of a world in which all beings are treated at the same level, and allowed the same capacity of prosperity. An assumed given of any future humanity- but an assumed given that we have not yet reached.

Feminism believes that all genders deserve to be happy. Which one do you choose? It really doesn’t matter the name it just matters what you believe. Here are some Feminists trying to control what others say or listen to in their OWN group. They often try to shut down event where men get together to talk about male problems. They also make False Accusations, suppress Freedom of Expression, yet FORCE others to listen to their own Speech - thus heavily rooted in hypocrisy & the Domination Game.
That is FASCISM, and extremely Authoritarian, not Equality - is it not?

"Choice" is the problem with feminism because feminists try to remove choice from both men and women. Feminists didn't want grid girls, but never asked if grid girls wanted to be grid girls. Feminists want more women in STEM but never asked if women want to be in STEM. They can't accept that men and women are different and make different choices. Equality/feminism works against women's interests.

There will always be things which prevent this type of equality: location, merit, gender, personality, appearance, height, age, experience, culture, family connection, etc. When we try to control the opportunity process we actually end up limiting the opportunities. It is better just to let the market act freely. When Trump removed tons of government regulations it resulted in a huge boon for the economy and every group ended up having record low unemployment numbers.

    • @Darqice
      @Darqice 6 років тому +5

True. If done subtly (which is how it should be), most men usually can't even tell. Or rather, we don't tend to notice it, much less think about it either way. Women do. Especially if the woman looks good or - god forbid - better.... At any rate, practically speaking women in this day and age no longer have a choice to not wear makeup in public. Not without some kind of negative consequence.
Although, the point here really is: if women "must" wear, then men "must not"... In a world free of sexism, everyone (women AND men) COULD use makeup to alter their looks just enough to feel more confident or just plain photogenic, whatever your personal reason for it...
A lot of men that have marks, zits or any kind of other bruises or spots that affect their confidence would at least get a chance to level the field with a touch of makeup.... But we don't even think about it, much less have the balls to do it.. Because, who would spot it and call us out on it? Women--- Wait, lemme rephrase that: insecure people of both genders.

Women are the ones who are compelled by their own egos to wear makeup, it's not men "demanding". Of course, makeup, and fashion, for that matter can be employed, often to incredible effect to mask apparent genetic shortcomings, or defects, even to the point of fooling men into believing the fantasy being presented, ultimately, for the long-term benefit of the female. Have you studied cultural anthropology? The majority of human interactions, are deep seated, evolved instincts, yes, modified and conditioned by socialization and acculturation, but the essence, under all the mores and tenets people's Psyche's are wrapped in are biological imperatives. A human child is born as a Tabula Rasa, but not completely blank, but with a faint subtext, that will be refined by Education (which should be How to think, not What to think) and socialization (rational morality, but not myth based superstition).

That said it pains me at each of her points the shallow level of analysis and the binary and simplistic way in which the perceived problems are quickly addressed, and then followed by the next point with each never being satisfactorily or pragmatically rectified.
The comments here are pretty scathing and rightly so as her conclusions exist within the landscape of a highly contentious debate in which other actors have delved far further into.
Given that I'm quite smit with the humanity she demonstrates and the genuine attempt to find middle ground for men and woman on a complex and divisive topic.

In 29 years, I've never seen man expressively influence a woman to make up. Never. We even spend a lot of time telling them they're good as is with no need of make up. Now make up enhances sexiness traits and can be very well welcomed, but we do not ask specifically ask for it nor do we influence. If saying "oh damn you look so nice like that" is an influence as in comfirming the girl required making herself up to look even more beautiful, we're sorry, but it's a woman's obsession to look better and better all the time. And magazines that promote body-perfectness are usually put up together by women. It's a self inducted. So yeah. Leave us alone please.

She sounds very uptight and misinformed. She thinks to much about life in general instead of just living it and not worrying about how much make up a girl puts on. I put on make up. It's for fun,, to make a woman feel better and more confident. It's not to make other women feel bad. I don't believe women always deserve extra rights, because they are always demanding more then what they can handle. Like me I choose cashiering because I didn't want the role of supervisor, it was more stressful. It seems like something a man could handle more, but it doesn't mean i believe women can't do that job. Or that i'm sexist. I just believe that I do better in basic job positions. It doesn't mean I have no education, I study psychology and i finished trade school. I earned it all by myself. But I don't need to be a leader to feel good about myself. And I don't believe men aren't allowed to cry. I think women need to focus on their future instead of protesting and sitting at home. If your going to be at home, at least take care of the house. And don't make excuses for yourself. That's a quick way to end up homeless.

In terms of relative strength, a girl cannot lift as much weight as a dude. You can give her as much anabolic steroids as you want. Why the insistence that different means unequal? People can be different (actually each is unique) and yet still equal. It is in either case a sloppy or deceptive use of the word equal. One cannot be "equal" without specifying "in what" so as equal in importance (check), equal in rights (check), equal in birthing a child? - women are superior, equal in building skyscrapers? Men are generally the only ones who want to do this work, though there are many strong women who are equally capable. In this case the difference has nothing to do with equality of abilities, but differences in preferences.

Why is "equality" needed when they are not equal to begin with. It's not even a statement that should be made. Do we look at apples and oranges equally? No, because they are not equal. They are two different things to be treated as such. Differently. We should be striving to treat people with JUSTICE not EQUALITY. With compassion and empathy. We treat men and women differently and always will because they are completely and utterly different.

roora dade That is completely false. Equality looks at nothing and simply treats all, similarly, regardless of any differences or circumstances. Equality is putting a urinal in a woman's bathroom because men have it as well. Equality is giving men paternity leave because women have maternity leave. Equity however, is conditional equality. Equity attempts to provide based on NEEDS and not based on what everyone else has. Equality is absolutely ineffective because men and women are not and should be treated equally. Equity is giving men what they need and women what they need so they both are treated fairly and are able to ultimately feel and have access to the same.

Centering feminism around 'choice' is rather shallow as people do not make choices in a vacuum without outside influence. Even if women have the 'choice' to choose between working in the home and working at an office, there are still social pressures are funnel people into certain choices. A better solution would be to raise the social and economic prestige of homemaking, as in actually paying women for their labor in the home. Women work without pay to raise the next generation of workers for the capitalist class. The same can be said of makeup, the makeup industry spends billions pressuring people to purchase makeup through advertising. People are also going to compare themselves to those around them in a social setting and therefore feel pressured to use makeup whether they wish to or not.

If Men and women are equal, then let's have the WNBA AND NBA play one against the other. Let's also put male prisoners with female prisoners in the same cells)

You're either human or sexist? Woow.... what a great way to dehumanize anyone who disagrees with you

Ironically, feminists are sexists because they want different rules for women. So she is not a human by her own logic.

One issue that I have is when one side that say "make-up is just a sign of intrenalized misoginy where women try to look good for men! Make-up is a sign of opression!" and the other side say "Make-up is a sign that I can do as I please with my body and that no one can shame me for what I do with it". Then both sides turn to me and ask what I think and no matter which side I pick the other will say that I hate women and that I'm anti-feminism. It is a "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't"-scenario.
This results in me not bothering because whatever I do I will be the bad person.

I'm impressed. You conveyed your belief so well versed I'm almost jealous of it. I will keep your talk in mind for all that excellent phrasing and more importantly the content. It's almost exactly what i always have in mind but never were able convey on the spot when i had certain conversations with certain people.
Thank you for this talk you gave :D,

hitchhiker that’s awfully rude and completely unnecessary, why would you waste the 20 seconds of your life that took?

    •  6 років тому

+hitchhiker What are you talking about? certainly not about her, and I do not believe me either... so about whom you talking about... must be yourself. I am sorry that you think so bad about yourself.

Michael Eastman She is on the brink of tears throughout the talk. Sexist? No. Insensitive? Yes, but men are kind of insensitive. And because I think men are less empathetic and bad at communication, I think we are shooting par for the course.

Men and women are NOT the same, nor will they ever be. Each of the genders (two, not infinite and fluid) need to coexist with the differences we do have. Forcing 'equality' merely results in fascism and resentment. This girl has some of the right ideas, but calling someone sexist because there are innate differences between the sexes biologically isn't right.
