Another Aussie here. I went to college in America on a sports scholarship (late 80s) and fell in love with America and its people. Its pain full to watch this debacle happen and my warning to Australia is be careful because ANY COUNTRY can do this to itself. Look what Britain did with Brexit. Look what France is doing to itself right now. Look what South Korea just did to itself. ANY COUNTRY no matter how well advanced its institutions are can rapidly devolve if it gets lax. In college I did engineering but a bunch of my friends we pre-law and they used to dreg me into their discussions. So I had an unusual education into how America is SUPPOSED to function. Because I had studied Orwell ()1984 & Animal farm) in High School I used to argue that ANY country could devolve into a totalitarian dictatorship because that was Orwell's message. They used to argue back that America could NOT devolve because of the way the American system of "Checks & Balances" worked. I am now convinced that the Founding Fathers were amazing and created one of humanities greatest achievements the US Constitution. But as an engineer I liken it to a magnificent car designed by great engineers *AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE PROPERLY MAINTAINED.* And this (I think) is going to be America's great lesson. Its not enough to have a great constitution, surrounded by great institutions with a well thought out maintenance program (regular elections, checks & balances,....) IF YOU THEN CHEAPEN OUT ON THE MAINTENANCE. In engineering you'd think we'd have learnt that lesson, but sadly "NO, we have not!" There's always somebody who thinks that maintenance is for clowns and it costs too much UNTIL something breaks and it ends in tears. Sadly America right now is a badly maintained system and *BOTH SIDES ARE TOO BLAME.* The only question is will somebody step up before it crashes like a Boeing Max-8 or sinks like the Titanic.
This is a lot. Thank you both for educating us on this because we all know that education is key to winning against the hatred, conniving people of trump and his hangers on.

What concerns me is the lack of cohesion that can happen in an organization that requires the ability to share information regardless of one's political persuasions. Instead, such organizations rely on shared values, loyalty to the Constitiution, committment to defending and protecting our democracy. These are large organizations, not small businesses. Information must be shared in the interest of protecting the nation. A leader whose loyalty is elsewhere cannot be trusted.

I hope you and your family get to enjoy a long, happy life with Aretha!
I can listen to Michael Weiss all day, every day. Thanks Tim for having him on. Excellent podcast!!!
But as an engineer I liken it to a magnificent car designed by great engineers *AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE PROPERLY MAINTAINED.*
And this (I think) is going to be America's great lesson.
Sadly America right now is a badly maintained system and *BOTH SIDES ARE TOO BLAME.*
The only question is will somebody step up before it crashes like a Boeing Max-8 or sinks like the Titanic.
That's a great analogy
The number one problem with American democracy is that there are only two legitimate parties and theyre at opposite extremes.
Tulsi must go!
Really enjoyed Michael Weiss. So much to learn! Please bring him back!
Great to hear an American who has a clue to what is going on in the Middle East !
Best guest on the show! Great knowledge, good speaking style and gives fun insightful tidbits of information.
Great guest! Don’t trust us after January 20
Or before since Trump is getting intelligence briefings. He’s a walking security risk
Great guest, Tim. Thanks!
Fantastic guest! Great show!
So freaking informative. I feel like I'm auditing a geopolitics course.
THIS is the most IMPORTANT Pod Ive heard or watched since the Election
Wish every single American would see this to understand
This is a lot. Thank you both for educating us on this because we all know that education is key to winning against the hatred, conniving people of trump and his hangers on.
I personally think all of our allies should treat us with a 'need to know' basis. I wouldn't trust this administration.
You realize the world was the safest it’s ever been under Trump?
Great guest, really interesting conversation
Aussie here: I hope we don’t trust you. Co-operate where it’s in our interest, sure. But not trust.
5 Eyes will become 4
Michael Weiss is a dream to listen to….brilliant MIND….and the hair doesn’t hurt! Dreamboat
I wouldn’t trust our incoming government with a guppy! I’m not surprised the UK will be giving us less than nothing for intel. We deserve it for electing a clown who brought with him a circus.
Ur brainless
Please have Michael back again. Super interesting video! Thank you.
This was awesome. Bring him on again. It’s fascinating. 😊
22:53 Could you imagine Trump understanding any of this in a briefing?
Would he even allow a briefing to occur?
One page. For the entire world, preferably with crayons.
One of his former intelligence briefers said that they were nearly driven bonkers trying to distill complex intelligence information into “bullet points” that Trump could understand. He simply wouldn’t read his daily briefs, didn’t understand what intelligence was or how it worked, and didn’t seem to care…
At the very least we must strive to makes TRUMP's term as unhappy and uncomfortable as mortally possible?
very insightful rundown on the situation in Syria
Hey Tim, let JVL know that it was one of his articles that got me to become a Bulwark Plus memeber. Thanks for all the tireless efforts on tour during the election and beyond
Patel's comic book about Trump may be the only book he has read.
Or had read to him?😂
There's also a book written by a guy named Adolf that he supposedly read (according to his first wife).
I was reading Michael Weiss’ twitter feed daily since @2020 until the new owner destroyed it. He is best primary source for Russia & Ukraine war. He cites other experts. Saw so many real time videos of events in the war. His podcast Foreign Office is very dense too. No fluff. Important questions & informative discussions.
Great episode, please have Michael Weiss on again
That moment when you realize: “I will never, ever, EVER understand everything that is going on in Syria-like, EVER.”
My thoughts exactly lol
This area has had a long and tumultuous history.
Tim, have Michael back, very smart dude.
Okay but the fact that y'all mentioned a puppy, TWICE! And didn't make the guest bring the puppy for us to see... now that truly is my line. 😤
😃😃😃💞
Michael Weiss really knows his stuff. Impressive, too say the least.
Been a while and a half since I had the pleasure of listening to Michael Weiss. Especially like his predictions there at the last. Europe needs to rally.
Probably the most enlightening interview of incredible information I have seen in a long time, thank you Tim.
Our allies would be incredibly stupid to continue to share classified information with our country. They would be putting themselves at risk to do so.
We’re not going to have any “allies” to speak of in two years. They are going to engage in very limited transactions in situations where some kind of “interface” can’t be avoided. I don’t blame them a bit.
Great interview!! I hope you have him back on the podcast. Very educational and informative.
Really enjoyed Michael Weiss!! Wow!! Great work and very informative piece!! Loved the way he speaks as it is very engaging!! Please get him back and have a CIA agent interview! Very interested into the introspection of what the we are looking forward to facing here with this new radical agenda facing us!! Again just WOW!!
This was one of the best conversations I’ve heard on any podcast. Ever.
This was one of the most informative and interesting interviews you have ever done. An American who is actually an expert on more than America is really refreshing to hear. I shall listen to it a second time because not all has stuck in my mind - the convoluted affairs of who fights whom presently in the Middle East including Turkey, are difficult to understand and Mr. Weiss explains it so eloquently, I was fascinated. I shall pass this video on to my friends and family in the US. From Germany.
Thanks Michael for illuminating for us the murky politics in Aleppo. Listening to the details of what’s happening in Syria’s I start to get a sense for how it felt to be British in the 70’s as the empire evaporated.
AWESOME guest! Brilliant 👍🏼
Australia will accept political refugees from America. It's sad that people have to flee America for their political views.
Like Canada Australia is screwed, both countries love socialism and lots of government.......
Im 71 but if i were young I would leave America. I wish young people would leave ( especially women). Now I truly long for my life to be over. I don't think I can make four years of trump Crap!!
Stick around and enjoy the shit show.
No one’s leaving the biggest economic superpower in the history of the world 😂
You can still get out and enjoy your life everyday. Be kind and decent and just get on, and don’t listen to the news. Good luck!
@ listen to the news.
Quite a lot of information here to unpack here. Definitely will need to give a second listen to pick up more of the details. Great interview.
I agree, definitely need to listen again. Excellent, informative episode. 👏
Excellent interview! Thanks so much guys
As an Aussie I have no faith in America coming to our defence in the future.
Great guest and conversation.
This is so fvcking scary.
Michael Weiss is brilliant, what a fantastic discussion
Please get him back on soon to talk about one subject in particular
That subject is, Jake Sullivan’s decisions to restrain the Ukrainian attacks on the Russians
I am someone who can find good in almost anyone. This intuition also enables me to detect evil and I detect evil in Patel. He is one of those evil people who no redemption.
Look in his eyes and you will be able to see into his soul.......SCARY 😮😢
🎚️🙏🩵❤️🤛🏼❤️🤛🏽❤️🤛🏼
This guy knows his Syria stuff, which is just as well because it sounds really complicated!
Nope! The US is on it's own. At least until it joins the russian federation
Even then we will be on our own.
Excellent
Oh tim. Isn’t that just the perfect point about Louisiana. Worry over the 10 commandments on the wall of school, increase sales tax but can’t keep te lights on. Priorities are so screwed up.
This has been such a great primer on Mideast history and sympathies. TY Tim and Michael Weiss!
Wow. Complicated Turkey/Syria/Putin/Iran/Iraq...
Michael Weiss is fantastic! So interesting on the Middle East!!!
And they'd be stupid to give Trump and all his unqualified staffers sensitive information. Don't blame them at all.
You realize the world was the safest it’s ever been under Trump?
@@AnthonyCosta-c1v Man I love a good joke.
I’m relieved we will not be sharing too much info to the U.S. It’s something I worried about when ‘he’ won. Such a sad state of affairs.
Should have been worried since he left & everyone knew he kept intel. In boxes. In the toilet. Where is apparently where he does all his reading.
You realize the world was the safest it’s ever been under Trump?
😂
Whew! I’m gonna have to listen to that one a couple of times. Thank you!!!
Perilous times. We will need the most intelligent and knowledgeable minds to protect our country and watch international developments with deep historical roots.
Trump offers a gang of idiots...
Imagine Trump trying to follow this discussion
Michael Weiss is so well informed and such a pleasure to listen to. Thanks very much Tim for your integrity and generosity in letting this erudite man speak his Truth and Knowledge. Tim, you are the best US young journalist ❤
Probably not going to be giving everything? I imagine it is closer to the allies providing as little as possible and nothing at all that is top secret, middling secret, or even, kinda, sorta, secret.
Also providing false Intell to see who the leakers are .. huge break in "trust" by NATO, if there even will be any going forward
Misinformation is what they should have been feeding.
If you have to ask, “Should we tell them this?” eight times out of ten the answer is “Oh, hell no!”
Weiss is brilliant
Can you guys do a regular vid once a fortnight or month? It was very interesting and informative from a USA perspective. I've been trying to get a worldly variety of perspectives on what's happening in the middle east and Ukraine/Russia. Ta 😊
Not sharing intel with the US will be devastating for us and for the world. Tell me again why people voted Trump twice??
To own the libs.
Would you allow Trumpf into a game of dominoes? It’s why allies are not buying him, nor trust him. Trumpf shuffling on that table all our secrets and those of our allies- no don’t want to think what he’d do. Neither would our allies- so best to play close to our chests- never letting on what they know.
Same with Mexico and Canada. Both countries are scheduling meetings with China for trade and security guarantees. Its over.
What a great conversation. Thank you, Tim and Michael.
Dear Iran, please step up your game. Love, democracy.
So glad the UK has finally woken up
Wait until the Tories are back in and they will be selling their souls to Trump and his ilk. The West is riddled with autocratic self-serving Putin lovers who can’t wait to be useful idiots. Brexit is a case in point. So sick of our political elites - especially the Right.
