I've lost weight just being whole food plant based but I've lost way more stuff like general aches, bubbly belly, fatigue/ laziness and other negative that I thought were normal

This was a great interview - thanks! I started sharing videos on my UA-cam channel about how our family of 4 has been able to maintain this way of eating for the past 14 years. Dr. McDougall’s simple plan (call starches, the addition of fruits and vegetables) is what keeps us going. Keep it simple!!

For whatever reason the starch based aspect hadn't really clicked for me and I'd try to eat all veg and a tiny amount of starch and fail but since going 90% starch volume I am continuing to lose weight. I also have implemented low/no added sodium and the bloat is gone.

I just realized that Heather has thankfully never experienced the discomfort of being overweight. 🌿

She's lucky her dad is dr mcdougall! I bet she will live well into her 90s. Maybe 100s. My parents feed me the typical junk food diet that so many parents think is ok to feed growing children. I wish I was raised on the mcdougall diet. Makes me wonder how much healthier I'd be right now.

@@mattzilla331 I know what you mean. Luckily, it’s never too late to start, and the body heals itself amazingly quickly.

I don’t blame my parents - they lived through the war when rationing was in place & getting food was hard. They ensured we were fed. They believed meat, dairy & vegetables were healthy. We did not have processed food but I now realise all those animal foods were so bad for me. The Starch Solution has changed my life. Thank you very much Dr M 👍

One question, doctor. Is it advisable to eat legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas) when you have an autoimmune disease? Some nutritionists advise against consuming them due to their antinutrients and lectins.
    Thank you so much.

I know mcdougall recommends keeping legumes to 1 cup max a day. Idk if he has special recommendations regarding beans and autoimmune. His website is really good and has articles about it. He also has an autoimmune lecture on UA-cam called "my body is attacking itself" or something like that.

I have auto immune and eat beans frequently. No problems. In fact, I rid myself of fibromyalgia and Crohn’s. Multiple Sclerosis is still with me but zero progression since I went WFPB.
