- This Video will show you how to add factory keyless entry to a base model Chevy impala from 2000 to 2005. Also, this can be done cheaply and easy with only a few parts sourced from the junkyard.

I got an LS with no key fob thank you for this video brother... 👍🤟✌️😎
No problem, I’m glad it helped you.
Brother, I'm adding this comment to your video comments because there are very few videos to address the #2008 #Chevy #Impala #RKE. After 15 years my RKE (remote keyless start and entry) stopped for no reason at all. After searching high and low for a video and forums I decided to try resetting the car systems by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Low and behold my RKE is working like new once again.
Awesome, good to know!
😆 aha! U posted 'the missing Link'!
Thank YOU!
programmed my new fobs 👌
Thank you so much man,
Cool dude thank you
I don’t have the original radio no more how can I do it?
Thank you so very much. But please let us see how you removed side plastic defrost grill and fished the wire Tru because I'm a girl and I HATE having to go run to a guy to do things for me. I feel like I'm putting him in a spot or worse he feels like I'm using him.
I’ve got another request for the same thing, I will see about getting yeah that video in the near future
i have got the correct number module part number and bought the fob thats supposed to go with it abd tried to prgrame with a scanner and nothing di you have to program the bcm maybe?
Nope, all I did was plugged it in and programmed it through the factory radio.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 my radio does not have the fob feature and i tried with my tech two and still will not pick it up.
Interesting, I know the snap on scanner had that feature, I tried programming with the scanner then I realized the module was omitted from the factory. So, I found the mod. at the junkyard that match the key fob, and programmed through the factory radio. Also, another guy had issues with finding that menu in the factory radio, but It was a 9c1 (cop package) nextly, some cheap keys don’t work, because I got a set from eBay and with good batteries it wasn’t sending out a rf signal. Also, Take them to O’Reillys and use they’re fob tester. Nevertheless, i found some factory fob’s from the junkyard and it worked.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 can you give me some info on the cop package? I believe that’s what I have cause I don’t have the fob prog option but I’ve got an extra button for “surv mode”. I’m gonna try to find said module tomorrow and see if it comes up but I was wondering if you might know already
cuello rojo deberías hace un video como es que desarmas todas las pieza hasta llegar altrim del defrot.
I will see about doing that it the future.
Would I need the module? Other videos just show the person do it without
Some cars like the base models with need the module, if you have LS model you’ll most likely have one installed from the factory.
Im not gonna have to reinstall the stock stereo for that am i🤦🏾♂️
No, not if you have access to the body control module, and can program it from a scan tool. However, if not, you will have to reinstall the factory radio, but once it’s programmed, you can remove the factory radio, and install an aftermarket one and there will be no issues.
What if you don't have original factory radio? How can you program remote?
You’ll need a scanner tool capable of bi directions connect to the bcm. I know the snap on scan tools will do it.
There wouldn’t happen to be a way to program a key fob with a aftermarket radio is there? Been trying to research this for a while with no progress…
Any auto shops with a good scan tool can program your key fobs
Wat if u have a aftermarket raido
You will need a factory level scan tool to bypass the radio programming support
Where can I get the module? Does it have an item number or something? Thank you!
This is the only info I still had saved in my records. The most important thing to remember this the module and key fob fcc Id # most match each
make sure the FCC id matches
KOBUT1BT is for 00 to 02
KOBLEAR1XT is from 03 to 05.
Junkyards are the easiest and cheapest way to get a module
If I buy it from a junk yard how do I get a key fob?
If you’re lucky you will find key fobs at the junkyard (I found 4 at my junkyard) . Just make sure that the key fob you find matches the FCC ID number on the keyless entry module that you fine. Otherwise, try Amazon or eBay they sell key fobs.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 alright thank you
@@redneckboysgarage5772 do you know if I would work for an 2003 9c1
I can’t be sure since it’s a police interceptor. However, this mod should work on 2000-2005 impala’s base model. I would first check and see if you have the module in place already and if so all you should need is the remote and program through the factory radio. Also try checking the rpo code sticker, I believe AP5 is the RPO codes for keyless entry. If you call a local dealer with your Vin number they should be able to tell you whether you have it installed or not from the factory.
No problem
my friend could you guide me why before changing the ignition cylinder on the radio of my impala the fob prog option appeared, I think I made the original reset error, the fobprog option has not reappeared on the radio
Unfortunately, that’s above my head. As, I’m not familiar with how the operating system of the radio works. All I know is how too find the fob program menu.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 thanks friend but I was checking the dash panel where the module should be but I didn't see that module, I'll have to do what you did, go to the scrap yard and look for one thanks for the information
No problem I’m glad I could help you out
Hey there! I dont have program fob in my stereo. Do you know what I need to do?
Unfortunately, I haven’t ran into that problem. There may be a way with a scan tool to program the keys.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 thanks, I went to a few dealerships, they didn’t know anything about updating the stereo. Even though the manual says to take it in to a Chevy dealer and they will update the stereo settings. I’m pretty much admitting defeat at this point
What if I have aftermarket radio!
I believe a good scan will program the fobs. There is no programming needed for the module it self, it’s plug and play. Btw, I just swapped my factory for after market one and keyless entry still works.
What if you don't have a radio?
You’ll be a dealer to program the key fob or a scan tool the can program the fobs. It’s much easier if you have the factory radio.
@@redneckboysgarage5772 yeah i was wondering about a scan tool. I picked a dorman brand fob and module up today.
