It’s been 2 years since Basil passed. Even up to this day, whenever I think of Basil, I think of my dog. Her name was Gidget and was exactly like Basil except she didn’t eat poop. She was a hybrid between a Labrador and Jack Russell. There was something about her that was unique and that was she stood outside from the other pups in the store. She was sort of this shy, isolated dog just in the corner next to the water bowl and then when she was adopted by me, she changed into this energetic dog but was still a very shy dog but she loved to explore and was a good girl
One thing that I’ve learned is, you don’t have to like someone to love them. Basil may have been a little bugger, but he was still family to you. You might not have liked all his habits or his mischief, but you loved him for the dog he was deep down. I wish you the best man, take it easy ❤️

Two years later, I still think of this. Every single time I think about it, I go to my dogs and give ‘em a hug. Because of this I can spend more time and love them more.

I lost my dog Jake a couple of years ago so I know what you’re going through, but something I learned a long time ago: “When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure”. Look back on those memories and cherish them whenever you can and one day you’ll see how good those days were.

It's hard to lose a friend...no a family member, because, let's be real, pets are exactly that. Members of your family.
I know exactly just how horrible that feeling is. And as bad as it may be, the fact that you feel the way you do, shows how important he was to you, and, I assume, how much joy he brought to you. Even if he wasn't always easy to deal with, haha.
Take your time. Take the time you need to process that...really.

it has almost been basil 1 year anniversary gone god bless him
its a very rare occurrence on when i actually cry, but this video always seems to get me, three years have passed huh? time flies, it really does, and because time slips through your hands so easily just like that, its best to spend the time with loved ones and those you care about, hug them close and tight, as you may never know when it’ll be the last time you’ll ever be with them.
It’s cool seeing young James and little Basil play together.
They were both heartbreakingly adorable as children.
I literally cried during this and I never cry from things like this. It’s just basil...I loved him so much from the videos and all because I’m a massive fan.I’m sorry beaver...😭❤️

James, looking back at this video, I can now understand your pain. Earlier this year, I lost my 10 year old German shepherd, Alex. I had him ever since he was born, which was when I was around 8. I loved him like a brother, he even showed the same love back when he protected me from snakes and even a burglar. Unlike Basil though, he never stank like a cow's backside but he was still an adventurous little prick just like Basil. RIP Basil, lest we forget

Through the 10 years I've been watching for. This video hit me with sadness that no other channel has. So know we are all sorry for your loss.
Hey James... I just wanted to say that your videos, no matter the content, it always makes me smile and get me through each day... even with how sh*tty my life has turned around yesterday. Just yesterday (in Indonesia time, since I live in Indonesia), my dog, a female Corgi that was just about to be three years old, who me and my family called Brittany (nicknamed Bri), passed away just yesterday... I won't get into the details but we brought her to the vet, as she had multiple seizures and we're vomiting constantly. The vet tried to help her, but, I think all of us know that she wasn't going to make it... around the time the other members of the family came to the vet (at the time it was me and my older brother), her signs of life had faded... even if I watched your videos multiple times, I'm still lost in all of this... of course I cried, I think, between all of the members of our family, I think I cried the most... but yeah, I'm not sure why I'm even saying this to you, but I just want to vent a bit here I guess...

I had a golden retriever named Winston we always called him Winnie and my fondest memory of him was after my papa died he came over and put his head on my shoulder and started licking my face he was the best boy and then his legs just went he couldn’t use his back legs anymore and it was because he had a spinal tumor and it wouldn’t get better so my family took him to the vet and what really got me was that Winnie was always a very strong and healthy dog but when my dad got him out of the back of the car he was limp and weak and I knew then and there that it was over his time had come and not a day goes by where I don’t miss him he was a very good dog I miss you buddy I’ll see you in heaven

This dog, right here, is a legend. I actually shed tears watching this because I remember seeing him from time to time and loving every moment of it. I especially remember the "how to make tea episode" of jpog. I legit cried. My heart dropped the second I saw the notification and I dropped everything and watched it. September 24th I lost my uncles dog I know it doesn’t hit the exact same but I knew the dog for 13 years and when he passed i balled but that dog didn’t have a bad end he was very well taken care of I would do it all over again bless him Rip Oscar 2008 to 2021

James (if I'm allowed to call you that), you gave him the best life a dog could ever have. He lived for 16 YEARS!!! That is a very long time, and he did well for his years. Basil knew he was loved (even though he stole food and ran through the neighbourhood and pulled bread off the shelves and ate crap), and even with his specialties, he was strong and still growled at his human. Basil was the best boy anyone could have had, and he lived the best life. He won't ever be forgotten, and people loved him everywhere. Rest in Peace, Basil, 2004-2021. You are loved by all. You do well, Beaver, and know that you took care of the best boy in the world.

This reminds me of a dog I used to have. She was a little like basil but a lot more calm and didn’t eat crap on walks. Her name was Jayda and she was very nice and calm around others. Never barked,bite,or growled from what I can remember.
A year later and nothing has changed, I still feel sorry for you. Death isn’t easy on people I would know myself. Now my family has a puppy of our own and this story of yours taught me to make the most of every moment

I found this video around the time my beagle passed, her name was Lucy and also happened to be sixteen, having passed a few months before Basil. I cried, but it made me feel better to know I wasn’t alone, I mean Lucy was there since before I was born, she had been around my whole life up until I was 14. Whenever I think of her and get really sad, I come back and watch this video cause it gives me comfort and laughs, because Lucy was also a funny troublemaker like Basil. Thank you for this video. I’m so sorry for your loss

I watched this video so many times, and every time, I ball my eyes out.
I'm really sorry man, family members like dogs are so hard to lose, I've had a dog and a cat that died. If you need to cry, just bawl your eyes out man, and if u need to do anything else to help, do it. It's really important that you do so, it makes the grieving a bit easier.
