Great video! Thanks for featuring Castle Rock! Our family actually helps maintain the property…it’s been a special place for many of us for decades. For so long, riders went by and never realized what was all there. Kinda a “dark” tidbit but there has been one officially report death there…where you guys climbed through the cave, on the side that has more of the sandstone, a gentleman fell off that back in the 50’s/60’s. My grandfather was part of the crew that went and retrieved him. On a side note, just past castle rock on trail 11 (coming toward williamson) you go into a sharp right curve. In that curve, there’s a small trail that goes up hill between two trees. That goes to Picnic Rock (part of the “Williamson Tri-Fecta” of Death Rock, Picnic Rock, and Castle Rock). Picnic rock was where Williamson’s old radio station tower was initially located. The operating building and tower are still there tho the tower has been knocked over and lays down the rock. In the fall, it has a great view of the Southside Mall in Kentucky.
Those round holes in the coal seams are old Auger holes drilled anywhere from 100ft to possibly up to 1000ft. It's like a corkscrew type bit, extracting coal, pulling coal outward as the bit goes deeper inward. Almost like drilling a hole in wood with a hand drill as example.
hey guys, great videos ! quick question for scott, how wide is his cargo area in toy hauler ? how much more narrow in inches is his 72” wide x3 when he straps his suspenion. i’m getting new x3 and dont know if it will fit in my toy hauler 🤷♂️. i have 68” max from wall to fridge 😂
I have 72 inches of garage once I get to my kitchen cabinets. I don't think I ever measured what my width is after I suck in the suspension but I have about 2-3 inches a side on my garage after it is sucked in.
Great info, i think i can sqeeze in new x3 rs rr when i get it. sold rzr but havent got new ride yet, your info helps me with my decision. love u guys videos !! see ya on the trail ! 👍
It depends on the ranger. Some will look the other way and some won’t. We have thousands of miles on the Hatfield McCoy systems and never had an issue.
Yea I’m coming up there for the first time in march. I’ve just got a can-am defender limited max with tinted windows so can’t see inside from far away lol. Think we are staying at the Billy goat mountain village
I was going to state those are probably vents. Since there are so many so close. Then Jesse says they are vents. Beautiful senaery. I wish they were jeep friendly.

Great shots and commentary as well as the trail number call outs!! So wish the trails were one way!
@@BlairRose-z6o thank you!
Destination 3 is auger holes. They don't lead anywhere they just use a big drill to get what coal they can the easy way.
What mount, tablet and navigation are you using?

The mine entrance are actual auger holes very dangerous
Loved riding both Rockhouse and Buffalo Mountain. Devil's Backbone is always a great place to stay.

How strict are they on the helmet rule?

Amazing y’all. Love the drone footage at Death Rock. This I believe will be one of A&Es next rides. Really like what y’all are doing 👍👍
Thank you, we appreciate that
Awesome footage 👏
Whats the best time of year to make this trip? Coming from 15hrs away so trying to get good weather
Anytime between may and October you’ll get the best weather.
This video should’ve been called, Dad Bods On A Ledge lol
🤣

Be careful at Death Rock - there’s a huge rattlesnake den back into the mountain there at that top landing where the swing is. 😬
I thought you always had to wear helmets on the Hatfields, did they change something? I wish they would
Yes, Your supposed to wear dot helmets
Are helmets required to ride H&M Trails?
Yes they are. Dot or snell I believe.
The "vents" are Auger holes
12.52 into the video I caught the sign... Fork you :0)
We missed having Scott to ride with.
What map system do you use? I know it’s probably been asked before 😂
