These juvenile Great White Sharks are definitely not stalking these surfers. It's unfortunate when attacks happen but more often than not, it truly is mistaken identity. Now IMHO, Tigers and Bulls are a bit different! Tigers will eat anything and Bull Sharks are just insane!

He want stalking him it's a juvenile they only eat stingrays and smaller fish until they reach around 11 feet because there jaws are basically fused shut and they can't open jaw fully so they don't start going after bigger prey until around 11 feet when there jaw opens and gets full bite range and Jaws become seperate pieces

Have a friend that owns a helicopter tour biz. I’ve been surfing & swimming in PCB’s waters most of my life & have always known that I wasn’t alone whenever I was out there. However, I have to say I was a bit shocked when he took me up & I got to see for myself just how close I’ve always been to being a menu option for them. We flew down the shoreline, from east to west & the amount of bull sharks I saw was staggering. So many oblivious swimmers arms length away from having their last worst day. I still go out, but I say a little prayer beforehand just in case.
I’ve Been saying for a LONG TIME that Drones should have Speakers on them and you can talk thru the Remote and it would be very easy to do! It could Truly help immensely!
@@lindanguyen6880 This is what I'm thinking too. Your average person is going to panic and start splashing and thrashing to try to get to land as quickly as possible and that more than anything is going to encourage an attack.
Yea! A comment below says it would cause ".....panic unnecessarily." It's followed with ".....thrashing.....encourage attack". I say Problem Solved, a-la Darwinism.
These drone operators should label these drones as shark cams so surfers would know why is there a drone following them and it's not to watch them surf!
It would be very important to establish a protocol that when a drone pilot sees a shark, he does a special manouver to advertise everybody. Like tilting the drone left and right quickly so that surfers can see it and then place the drone on top of the shark showing its position and the direction its moving
Must admit I’ve never seen “a man in a grey suit” (a shark) when surfing. However, when I was very young, I literally dived from some rocks onto the biggest ray i have ever seen. The older kid I was with, armed with just a hand spear, dived into defend me, however, when I safely got back onto the rocks, I looked around to see my would-be savior literally walking on water he got to dry land so quick. He reckons with my dive, I woke up the beast from a midday snooze, and by the time he dived in, the ray’s fight or flight instinct was just starting to kick. That was over 50 years ago, but I remember it like yesterday.
Rays aren't really dangerous. The crocodile hunter was very unlucky because sting rays usually sting legs that step on them but he got stung in his heart. Manta rays have no stingers but they are the biggest rays and tourists pay to swim with them because they are harmless.
My dad was swimming in the ocean & the water was pretty murky that morning (not a great idea). He had his goggles on & at one point, he said he could see a huge shadowy mass coming toward him. Terrified, he thought: This is it. This is how I d1e. He tried not to panic & make a bunch of sudden movements, but he started to swim away. He kept looking back at the mass as it quickly moved closer, then: Boom, it suddenly dispersed & he was surrounded by tons of fish. I can't imagine that kind of fear, but I would also never swim in the ocean lol.
we are not top of the food chain on land either!! its just sheer numbers that makes us formidable. so many animals see us as meat balloons but are intimidated to enter nieghborhoods and communities, if we lived in cabins that wernt so dense in numbers u would see how weak and vulnerable we are.
@sneekyshot1 yes I agree but without weapons we are so easy to kill it's ridiculous. I just hate hearing that top of the food chain crap, if we were sent back to Hunter gatherer times most of us would die off rather quickly

This video just proves what I have always said about sharks,if we were on there menu we would have 10's or hundreds of fatalities daily but there has been so much footage showing that sharks swim so close to humans without them even being aware and just goes about there business, yes In some cases I do believe sharks don't mistake identity but those attacks are rare in comparison to fatal attacks
A quick tip, there are always things around you in the water, just because you cant see them, doesnt mean they arent there. Even at knee depth there are schools of fish that you cant see, its wild
All cute fine and dandy, until one is hungry due to not catching those fast seals, and decides you are much easier prey. Maybe not a high percentage, but when you're the one being chosen by the great white shark percentages no longer matter.
These creatures are doing what is natural to them. The ocean is their home. If they are hungry they will ear. These surfers should respect this beauty who quietly passed them by.
I'm Australian and I've been surfing for many decades. I've been surfing amongst 150 sharks at Easter time. I saw the footage from the shark spotting plane on the TV 📺 news when I got home. The next day a surfer was killed at the beach next to the one I was surfing at. You just have to understand sharks in the core of your being. Bells 🔔 Beach at Easter is not a wise move. It's sharks mating season at that time. This shark 🦈 in the video looks young and small.

He isn’t lucky he didn’t get attacked sharks surround surfers every single day without attacking. It is immensely rare to be attacked by a shark. It’s insane to me that people still think that if a shark is there it’s most likely going to attack
Actually, a recent study by CSULB Marine Biology dept determined that off LA and OC county beaches in California, it's 90% of the time that adolescent white sharks 6 to 10 feet in length are very close to swimmers and surfers BUT in 18 months of observation by drone there was not one incident of sharks attacking
In addition to drone alerts, what about a surfboard with an electric current. Diana Nygard's boat was equipped with some type of device that protected her while she swam at night. I saw the movie and it was a close call because it looked like a couple of great whites were heading directly for her. They had to scramble because the connection had come apart, but once they reconnected it (in the nick of time), the sharks took off!
For those asking for speakers on drone they actually already have them. They are very expensive though. Some of the local PD’s here in San Diego have them. I’ve been at beach when they fly them over. They should equip the life guard tower with those versions. It could save a couple of lives.
It’s actually a good use of drones on beaches where there’s any threat of sharks. For spotting, warning surfers/swimmers, or even just hovering over the damn thing making people aware of its exact location.

We've got heaps of big beauties hanging around the WA coast atm. Some have been spotted in the Swan River but on my shark watch app (I'm a lil' obsessed with them😏), most are along the coast. Some big'uns are really close to the shore too. I accidentally kicked a tiger shark that had been under me in the Guildford part of the Swan and if it wanted me, it would've had me piece of piss. It would've been provoked imo. It's just cruising along and cops a kick to its head...or wherever I got the poor bugger. I thought it was a dolphin at the time but others there said otherwise. @murfdog19 of course. But a shark can also sense a fish's heart beat through its lateral line, they aren't going to attack something that's heart isn't beating
Surfers and drone operators should agree on a signal that alerts the surfers/ swimmers that they are in danger and also fly over the shark so they know to move slowly in the other direction and out of danger.
I wade in the ocean. I get my water fix in the tub, pool, water parks. It’s their domain. I’ve always felt that way. Would be great if you could relay verbally or a universal sign, shark is here. I’m ever thankful my son has never showed interest in surfing.
For those who think sharks don't see people as food, let me tell you, sharks know exactly what we are, humans have been in the ocean since the beginning of time, so we are no different than a seal to them. Sharks are just like any predator, if they are hungry and they think they can take you without getting injured, than you are on the menu. Sharks are opportunistic eaters, they prefer easy meals with less risk of injury such as dead animals, but if they think they can take you without getting hurt than you will get hit. They prefer taking live prey from below, or from behind, such as the surfer it pursued. They are smart enough to know that getting injured is certain death for them, so they almost always try to sneak up from below or behind the prey.
This is what I think no matter what people say about them being harmless. I would NEVER put myself at risk of anything in any body of water. I don't even want to imagine being bitten by a shark. Why even risk it! Even the thought of swimming in rivers and lakes terrifies me. There's something terrifying about deep water, especially deep dark water....and now crystal clear aqua water. I prefer the local swimming pool every time. At least I get home for my next meal 😐 and another swim another day 😐 I can't fathom what goes on inside the minds of surfers. Terrifying. I hope these two were safe until they got out of the water. People's suggestions on dropping signs from a drone wouldn't work as the noise of the ocean would override that. A very loud siren would be the next bet for gaining attention of the surfers/swimmers but they should be pre-warned to not panic, to just remain still and calm so that the shark can't smell the fear because, as someone else mentioned, they can smell fear hormones, just like wasps can and will continue to attack you when you panic. With wasps, if you just do slow lengthy sweeps with your arms and remain fearless they tend to get the hint and fly away. What makes someone want to get into a body of deep water full of sharks and risk being bitten in half and eaten alive? I will NEVER understand 😐 Someone mentioned surf pools being created. Fantastic idea!! 💡🏄🏽♀️🏄🏿🏄🏻♂️👍🏽
@@earthed_soulwell the thing is not everyone wants to surf human made waves for one. Some people just want to enjoy nature and also surfers try not to think about sharks in the water. We are very aware we are in the sharks home of course and we respect it. Also it is very unlikely to get eaten by a shark, like VERY rare. We humans kill more sharks than sharks have killed humans in a lifetime. So overall, You are probably more likely to die in a car accident than to be eaten by a shark.
I wonder when I was young and on my board in Socal. How many times there was one of these underneath me not too far away. Some things are better not known.
That's not true, the shark wasn't hunting him at all. You'd be surprised how common it is for sharks to swim near humans on beaches without people even knowing they are there. Considering the amount of opportunities they have to attack us, if they really hunted humans each year they would kill thousands of people a year instead of a dozen.
Unlikely. Shark attacks on people are extremely rare and people in the ocean are within feet of them all the time and don't even realize it. Sharks do have to exist somewhere for the 23 hours a day they're not eating, ya know. A shark was spotted near surfers in Australia and people were freaking out so the news interviewed the surfers who didn't understand what the big deal was. The surfers said they're always around us. The sharks are probably bored and just wanna watch them surf😂 I don't think I've ever scuba dived in fort Lauderdale and not seen a shark...
@@mikemurphy5898 Yeah, real big man talk until one latches onto your thigh. These people are stupid and are just trying to be macho, until they lose a leg.
You're magnitudes more likely of dying in a commute to work, the grocery store, Mcdonalds drive-thru, etc. Yet we don't even think twice about accepting that risk of death to go grab a couple cheeseburgers... just try to think about it that way and it becomes much easier to accept the risk swimming in the ocean.
Like many people said, The Malibu Artist shows us that great whites are around virtually 100% of the time, yet shark attacks are rare. I have no idea why sometimes they do bite people, but it's definitely a rare exception. I was at a shark conservation event and a shark attack survivor, who was attacked in the waters of California. He said he bumped into the shark, the shark was below him and his arm hit it. It bit his leg and by a miracle, not only did he survive, but he didn't lose his leg like some other survivors. According to him, the shark did not chomp down hard, which is what they normally do. Instead, the shark bit into him and swam with him held in its mouth, the shark carried him off like a dog toy. The survivor punched the eyes and gills, and as you know, the shark will let you go if you do that. In the words of that survivor, the ocean is their home, and if we want to enjoy the water, we just have to keep in mind there is a chance this could happen. I guess people could also go to beaches known to not have sharks, but Malibu ain't that.
Your story is very misleading a shark won't always let you free if you punch him in the eyes and gills... it might or it might not it mostly depends on the species of sharks, that individual and how hungry it is... We see it very often in some places of the red sea that are almost depleted of most of their food sources and were when a starved shark attacks if you aren't close to the shore your chance of surviving or close to zero no matter how strong you punch... Again it is the good reflex to have but assuming you are doing it your survival still really only depends on the shark
What sharks do is bite to tear the skin and then back off and wait for their prey to bleed out until it's too weak to put up a fight. Then they go in for the kill. A shark doesn't want to have to deal with the fangs and claws of its prey. It also gets a taste from that first bite, and humans don't taste like what they want to eat, so they're more likely to just swim away. In the case of deaths from shark attacks, it more likely to die from bleeding to death rather than being eaten whole. Of course, this isn't always the case, but considering how many hundreds of millions of people go into the sea every year, and how rare shark attacks are, obviously, they're not interested in you as a snack. Otherwise, surfing would be suicidal. This shark has probably swum under quite a few surfers in its lifetime, and sharks are swimming under surfers all the time, here or there.

It would be very important to establish a protocol that when a drone pilot sees a shark, he does a special manouver to advertise everybody.
Like tilting the drone left and right quickly so that surfers can see it and then place the drone on top of the shark showing its position and the direction its moving

They are really quite docile and harmless.

I will NEVER understand 😐
Someone mentioned surf pools being created. Fantastic idea!! 💡🏄🏽♀️🏄🏿🏄🏻♂️👍🏽

Sharks can casually come up to you like they are not interested then chomp down on your arm or leg.
Well, if they come up to you then surely they are interested
Equip drones with speakers and monitor the beaches that way
Like many people said, The Malibu Artist shows us that great whites are around virtually 100% of the time, yet shark attacks are rare.
Nice story !
😂😂😂 dude said he has no idea why they sometimes bite
We probably just need a bit of pepper sprinkled on us , we’re already covered in salt once we’re in the water ,
That was a trip watching the shark in action was actually peaceful. High Blood pressure isnt the only silent killer.
A Great White Shark has no idea a Surfer's drone is above him.
What does THAT have to do with anything?
Surfer dude: What a gnarly day!
Shark: Is that a seal? Nah, wait maybe, nope not gonna fool me .
Man just having a great white sharks attention is insane…
I'll be happy if they never know I exist 🤣
The shark saw her. She is not food
The shark 🦈 wasn't hungry that day.😅
Scarier than hell, that shark is like hey what’s this little bird fluttering over here… Let’s go check that out…
That shark wasn't hungry, just curious. If it was hungry then I would have went after him like a seal. 😅
Bro I’m in and I’m out I’m getting a wave in and I ain’t coming back 😅
We always thought we were safe in the breaking wave zone. Now we know
А если в зоне прибоя есть яма до 25 метров ,в которой любят залегать акулы ,как наши сомы в омутах ?
Там надо себя чувствовать и осязать ,как малек в аквариуме с акулами !
Many of the attacks have been in 6ft and less water
And the shark give zero fucks about the surfer.
Really? Looks like shark is tracking them, watching them, studying their prey.
The shark literally followed his trail when he started paddling and followed from behind in striking formation , it was just a look but for a second that shark DID SEE FOOD
more like happened to be close semi interested cuz the paddling then took a wiff and said nahh u aint a fish@@vaskylark
@@mattmattmatt3091 That shark was going to eat them and was trying to decide if it would get hurt in the attack and is it worth it. You going to swim with it to find out, go for it.
@@noahshields507striking formation 😂
Я люблю свой маленький прудик под названием "Пятак" и никакие красоты меня не заставят купаться там, где водятся акулы!
That shark used all of it's senses to determine that it isn't food.
And has seen them before
Or that it was not time to eat yet.
Anything moving is potentially food...period
@@angelabryant2731 Dude٫ you are being highly incorrect٫ sharks are smart animals٫ humans aren't their prey.
Or it was already full. But that just makes too much sense.
That's a big shark. Grew up surfing in FL. When I would see a shark, I would get TF out of the water every time. Shocked this kid saw it and didn't paddle in
I don’t think he saw anything.
It always amazes me how surfers have no idea there will be sharks. It's their home. Doh!
Every surfer knows there's sharks der. We take the risk.
Sheesh lucky it wasnt that hungry
