Hi Kevin, another great video. After your last video I finally got round to speaking to Simon at AES and as you said, he was really knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me better understand my heating needs and to determine the heater I need. Unfortunately they are out of stock at present but are expecting some more in February so should coincide with me finishing the build and the start of the plumbing. Many thanks for switching me on to Remora.👍😊🎄☃️🐟

The Remora simple easier to understand and set up compared to the others. The one I was going to have was not due in to the UK till after Christmas and I had money burning a hole in my pocket so I went for the next model up.

@@AKoiEnthusiast I think that’s what I’ll end up doing to be honest as I want the heater here when I get to the plumbing stage. Simon is going to give me an estimated delivery date for the model I want after the Christmas break but if too far away I’ll go up a model as they have some of those in stock. Best wishes for the New Year to you and your family 👍😊🎄☃️🐟🈲

Thanks for the video Kev. It was interesting to see the saving you have made.
However I think it's impossible to compare the various ASHPs without doing some controlled, scientific experiments. I have seen this a lot with these comparisons where each recons their own ASHP is the best and most efficient. Without running them each using the same conditions and parameters it's impossible. It would be nice if some company (like Which) did that comparison. Until then all you can say is what you have found to be the case for you at your temperature.I think it's wrong to then start speculating that it's better than this ASHP or that ASHP.
Just look at The Koi Guy's comment below " been talking to this guy about this other 1 and he said he runs his 18000litre pond on a 8.5kw and it keeps it at 24c no problem". Well yes you could probably do the same, no problem, but the cost would be so much more than at 17 degrees!
So thanks again for sharing the results of your ASHP with us.

Cheers for commenting and Yes you are exactly correct. I posted the exact same statement on FB yesterday. Everyone's set up is different and also the weather so two units cannot be compared unless they are set up on two ponds in the same location. What I always say is it is what best suits your set up and circumstances. I needed to tick several boxes with my set up and after a lot of home work and searching this unit does it. This doesn't mean it will suit someone else's set up or Budget. The Video was more about the saving I made between the Elecro Inline and the ASHP. Thanks again Peter

@@AKoiEnthusiast Just noticed Kev that the average COP for the Remora is quite a bit less than the ThermoTec.
REMORA 9kW - Average COP of 10, up to 10kW of heat for every kW power used.
ThermoTec 9kW - Average COP of 13, up to 13kW of heat for every kW power used
      .
That is something that can be compared.

@@peterfinkill8098 Thanks for the extra comments as I love hearing other objective views as this will all help other people looking into ASHP's too. I did have a big write up to read out about this but after reading it through it was very technical and detailed and I was bored trying to explain it let alone someone listening to it. I am sure someone will add the true comparison. Where it is a comparison point, it is not the best way to compare ASHP's. For a better representation of the heat pump’s efficiency all year round you should compare SCOP which is the Seasonal Coefficient of Performance. It’s also sometimes referred to as the SPF or Seasonal Performance Factor, but it’s the average COP across all the seasons. As I keep mentioning there were several key factors I needed to cover due to my set up. These were the Size & Weight, the Set points, Wifi Controls, the Plug & Play (RCD) with extended cable and Warranty. These all came inclusive with the price but other people may not have the same restrictions or requirements. There wasn't much between the units so I suppose it is horses for courses and personal choice and this was sold when I spoke with Simon at AES and his knowledge of the ASHP Design and Koi Pond requirements.

Hi Kev, hope you and your family had a great Christmas, looks like the ASHP is using a lot less power than your Elecro did which is good to see, are you going to log the power consumption all through winter so you have a better comparison, after these first readings I think it's pretty obvious which will come out on top but will be interesting to see by how much, are you keeping the pond at the 16°-17° all through the winter period, by keeping the temperature up through winter does it make the koi less prone to disease and infection as opposed to coming out of hibernation after a cold winter, stay safe.
    Rob.

Cheers Rob - Yes I've put it on again and set it to monitor the Energy use for 30 days. With the Snow & Frost we've had it should be a good comparison.

The Pond is 2,250 Gallons (10,000Litres) and 1. I needed an Invertor Step Controlled ASHP (Not On/Off Inverter) 2. More importantly due to the positioning it also needed to be Wifi/App Compatible 3. Although the Pond is covered I needed something capable for a higher Volume. 4. I needed something Small, light, efficient, Silent and long lasting. The Thermotec look good but too confusing on the size, controls and extras where as the Remora ticked more boxes before I even spoke with AES. The recommended the one below but there were not due until the new year so for the small price difference I went for the Remora i12. It had everything and more besides. I think compared to the Thermo & Duratech of the same capabilities this is cheaper with 7 year warranty. All the details of the Ponds and Equipment are in the Description above.

@@AKoiEnthusiast yes I have to admit I am swaying towards Remora myself but I am looking at Azuro at the minute they are so much cheaper to buy but don’t have wifi etc so 🤷‍♂️

@@Crypto_Ant 3 Things people forget to mention is the set points of the unit as some don't go lower than 15 Degrees. Also there are two types of Invertor, On/Off or Step Ramped with the second being a lot more efficient with electricity and lastly The right size for the pond and set up. apart from that they are all about the same but if you can afford it go a little larger. Think about it as like buying a bigger car. You wouldn't use a small Smart car to whizz up and down the motorway everyday. It will do the job but not very long and not as efficient as a larger Avensis/Kuga/Series 3 BMW (Other Cars are available)

@@AKoiEnthusiast yes I do know about them, but I thought it was just say a Remora on/off or an Remora inverter and obviously the inverter is the better 1 to buy, I was looking at the i9 for mine but been talking to this guy about this other 1 and he said he runs his 18000litre pond on a 8.5kw and it keeps it at 24c no problem
