@3D Musketeers, Grant, I would like to thank you for your videos, they have helped me immensely. I am sorry I am not on any social media platforms, other than youtube, as I would SHOUT out to the world about your channel. I also wish I could retain all the information I have gleaned from your videos (old age thing, lol). KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!

6:07 Check the speed layer view in the slicer too. I always say to check the temp, speed, line width, cooling, and other layer views so you can compare them to the print results to see if anything matches up.

So I got the wham bam nozzle cleaning kit yesterday. I haven't used it yet. Maybe today. I guess I'll stick the nozzle back in the oven again. lol

As always, thank you! I've had that same issue with PETG! Please do a bed prep video!!! Most people know about glue sticks by now, but there are other things that work as well and are easier to use and clean off!

The second one; I print mostly in PETG, get some odd effects however
One print I've been doing a lot of lately is printing 1x2mm thick, 25mmx330mm rods in vase mode, (a project, part of a huge water sculpture)
The problem I ran into is that cooling ruins the layer adhesion (and waterproofing). I not only had to slow the print down to 5mm/sec, but also print at an ungodly temp of 180C (recommended 230-260C) for the laid layer to have enough stiffness to not deform when getting tugged around by the print head on the active layer.
Granted, this might not work out so nice for that bin, underlayer cooldown being much better with a larger print

6:13 I reckon it could be the spool being restricted, snagged on something and having to pull harder?

Me, too. I (remotely) witnessed their build and was ecstatic to see them come alive! There is an awesome dual-champagne flute that also needs printing.

Hmm, would raising the temperature actually help or hinder with filled filaments? By raising the temp you are lowering the viscosity, that could cause the material to flow around the granuals and leave them behind, clogging even faster. Also baking the filament while that head is parked, so more carbonization to help cause a clog.

@3:40 the layer below the ridges are closer to the nozzle probably around 0.05mm . the nozzle is therefore closer closer to the nozzle and the filament squishes out the side making the ridge. why is the layer closer to the nozzle? that is the real question. maybe a tolerance issue with the mechanics of the printer. I'm willing to bet it's the filament itself that is warping up on the edges. lots of smooth curves and steep chamfers on elastomer type filament (silk and tpu) really makes the layers pull inward and curl up the edges a small amount. the print edges will have those ridges or in extreme cases the nozzle will push in the ridge and print over it making large divits in the print surface

the Jar Jar one, likely the filament is hanging up somewhere as the print head gets closer to the top?

They are still perfecting the recipe. They had some spools for sale in the winter that were test batches. Big things happening there!
