The police used to be called by Francine and her neighbors and her husband would tell them that he was going to beat her up worse when they left on many occasions. On that night, he told police he was going to kill her when they left and he almost did but he passed out\fell asleep she doused him with gas, threw the match and ran. Then she drove to the police station and turned herself in.

Her trial actually changed how domestic abuse is viewed and treated in the justice system. I did a speech "program" my sophomore year of college and I used excerpts from the book, The Burning Bed, for the prose portion. It was about women pushed over the edge. I remember seeing the movie on Lifetime and thought of it again when I hit upon using Cell Block Tango for a piece (the remaining portion was lyrics from If You Hadn't But You Did, there's a funny video of Kristen Chenoweth performing it) but I hadn't realized it was a true story until I found the book. Scary stuff.
I wish boys wore cool fun stuff. That end look is how my hair looks naturally, it's really fluffy. Just auburn instead of blonde. But guys never wear fun stuff like that. If you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb you have to just wear tshirts and hoodies
It'll never become normal to wear fun stuff unless someone starts doing it, so instead of thinking about how you stick out when you look like that, think about how you're making it a little bit more normal
