I heard that one of my mates may now have to re spray the front of his car because someone did a burnout in front of him on the cruise route and showered him with loose bitumen and tyre shards. This persons car has been in the elite hall in previous years so it's not a shitter.

After social media being flooded with negative behaviour, people acting like it’s a badge of honour to have your stickers ripped off and kicked out. To the fact that security got over run in one section and had to take flight as the crowd and car drivers had went feral. Not to mention after cruise route got canned people took it to the streets. Behaviour like that has definitely put a nail in the coffin for Summernats. I know Mcfry has posted a lot of people acting feral. As for Andy you say it was more safe for females, from what you’ve heard from previous years. But you also picked and chose where and when you went to places and kept an eye on her at all times. Doesn’t sound like a safe space for them at all and it would deter a lot from attending. Im glad someone like you has the balls to say the real truth about it for anyone looking to attend in the future years.
As someone who still hasnt been to summernats but feels the exact same way about the event as you i would defaintly recommend doing RedCentreNats, I did RCN #3 and while its a fair hike the journey is half the fun and it has a more community event feel, Everyones especially the WA partipants have done the hard yards to get a car there so its a little unspoken rule to not ruin the trip for someone else whose done just as much as you to make it. All up a great fun event with a lot more layed back vibes. Only down side is the local crime so stay in a good caravan park and everyone tends to keep an eye out for eachothers cars
Great to see someone being honest on video about the conditions. I went for the first time, always something my dad and I wanted to do, mainly just to see the nice cars. Didn't even actually visit the pad haha. The guys were running a muck, guys pulling people throttle cables and opening their throttle bodies. Like you said it had gotten better with the girls, you probably could have relaxed a bit more with that side of things, as you mentioned you were cautious of where you went etc. I reckon your pretty much fine walking around it's mainly just the cars themselves getting damaged, personal safety though didn't feel like it was too bad. Also saw you pulled over outside the showgrounds on the Thrusday evening. Torana looked amazing man.

Trouble with Summernats is that Western Sydney is only 2.5 hours away. The denizens can afford the trip. And yes, it was bad for girls back in the day.

You did the right thing by cruising around a bit early in the day...pretty much after midday it starts getting rowdy...I saw you at one point crossing the road towards the Maguires Shed didn't get a chance to say hi though unfortunately...there are a few quiet spots along the cruise route to stay away from the clowns....great vid as always Mark!

Drunken louts standing right beside and wandering among those burnouts seems incredibly dangerous. Definitely out of control and a trip to the hospital waiting to happen. Enjoyed your road trip vid.
100% agree with you we had the VN SS entered that was in the video at 4.35 and we took the car back to our air bnb half way through the day on Saturday
So i was there at the nats this year. I've been going for ten years, and my dad has been since the beginning. This was the rowdiest summernats I have been to in a while and it was disgusting. Amenities were few and far between, and when you found them, you really didn't want to use them. I didn't like the text messages through the day from the event rather than saying go have fun and see cool cars. It was pushing start hitting the turps from 9am. I went home early on the saturday at about 2pm. And to get from the ringers western truck to the gate by maccas took me 30 minutes, and i had the car pelted with cans, bottles, and people rocking the car hoping for a skid. But i never did one so i was the bad guy and got stuff thrown at me. The spectators to me ruined the event. But the organisers were no help due to it being chaos just to get a straight answer. There was no communication between security, and the security that was there sucked anyway. I had people cutting holes in the fence behind my camp, which ironically was 15m from a security gate. I definitely will not be returning to the event with a car. I may go in my daily to see it for the day. But i will not have another car ruined by pissed idiots.

red centernats is a great fun event and worth going up there, the top fuelers where epic and so is the fact that any car can drive on the street so there 1500-2000hp drag and burnout cars roaming the street of Alice, and its a very family friendly place to be no one was to crazy a road laws still applied, I highly recommend going up there
Was my first nats as well, I did enjoy the majority of what was on offer, the loose crowd is what ruined it for me. In saying that, I'm keen to go again. Was awesome getting to meet you guys and buy some merch directly off you and shake your hand and have a quick chat

Mark, maybe I'm showing my age, but I can't really see the purpose in spending heaps of cash in doing a car up and then trashing the tyres (and more) trying to impress perfect strangers when you dump the clutch, creating clouds of smoke. I think you did the right thing in keeping Andie's little Torana out of the way. I'm glad you made it home to SA safely.

Mate absolutely love your channel but more importantly your honesty. I went to springnats in Victoria last year and TBH have absolutely no interest in going to Summernats. Each to their own, but too many tossers in 1 place for me. I'm a car nut but I can't stand that environment. At least they have a place to go I guess. Each January, the Elvis festival in Parkes, NSW is on for about four days. Not primarily car focused, but the theme is everything 50's to 70's:- Elvis, music, fashion and a classic car, motorbike and truck display. Maybe give it a try.
As someone that sits back quietly in the back ground enjoying your vids and not commenting i feel i have too . I have not done the Nats in shitberra but have watched a lot of youtube vids and although i enjoy some stuff you can tell it is overwhelmed with Bogan nites and bogan antics . I know there is a minority that stuff these things up which is a fact of life , Id rather not be in that sort environment thankyou . I know it's a long way away from you, but Kandos is one of my all time favourite events, it's such a laid back event, the atmosphere is so cool, it feels more like a get together with all your mates (even if you don't know anyone there) everyone is happy to talk to you and you get to see a bit of everything, not just LS powered junk all the time.

100% agree mate. I went to summernats 15 plus years ago and while I loved it I hated the cars being man handled by drunk wankers that have no respect for others. Definitely keen to go to redcentre nats. Would be cool to get a contingent of your subscribers together and all head up and put on a show.

I went for the first time this year to. Loose would be an understatement. These bananas thought once they were inside the gates they could do whatever they like. Getting your sticker ripped as you got booted and filmed by the masses seemed to be a lot of peoples goals. I left most nights by 6 and headed to Braddon for the fringe festival.
Always wanted to make the trip from NZ, and assumed as much. I expect Bathurst would be much the same. Love the content Mark.. hoping for some ZL goodness in the future
Bathurst is not like Summernats. It used to b crazy many years ago, but not anymore. A lot of people now camp up on the mountain, with their kids. Yes There is a drunk yobbo element, but it’s kept under control. It’s very safe in the spectator areas near / around the starting line area.
I've been going for years with a group of high end high dollar cars and Love all aspect of it like most people plus nothing like Summernats in Australia so if you don't like it you don't need to go stay home go fishing or something!
Thanks for the summary. Never been, always wanted to and was hoping to take the kids for my first trip. Doesn't sound like a family friendly event, not for preschoolers anyway, will wait a few years if it still exists.
Hey Mark, my first and only nats has been no 30. I dunno if I'd go again, I went on a buddy pass and was crewing a mate's car in the elite hall so didn't get much of a chance to walk around and the chance I did kinda stuck to the main sections. Glad Andrea had fun, but yeah I don't think I'd take the wife. She doesn't have much interest in summernats anyway. Redcentrenats would be awesome, maybe one day 🤞. I’m with you Mark. My car was parked on the oval most of the day so I am not sure I will bother entering again. Luckily I am from Canberra so it doesn’t cost me too much time and money and I can go home when I have had enough. 2700 entrant cars and that many spectators is in my opinion too many. An hour for a lap of the cruise route (2.2km) is ridiculous (all while being abused for not doing a skid) as is 40mins in a queue to get in each morning unless you got there before 9am. I love parts of the event but not sure they are enough for me to keep paying entrant fees. I’ll probably just go as a spectator in future years. I’m glad Andy didn’t cop too much, avoiding certain parts of the event after about 3pm (used to be 6pm) is my advice to friends, particularly females - that sucks but is sensible.
I've been to a number of summernats and while it was very feral back in the day, Summernats 35 was very crowded with Saturday being sold out. You just have to pick your moments to go cruising. Shame you guys won't go back. I was looking for your Torri one the cruise route.

Yeah I had a mate go this year and he was shocked at the behaviour of some of the guys he was actually standing there when the guy reached out and hit the throttle on that blown Holden he said the guy was bashed and ran away it should have never happened
If I had one question, what is camping like? I'm introverted like yourself and would love to camp if I ever come over from W.A but worried it will just be rowdy pissed flogs partying all night long whilst I'm trying to " recharge my social batteries ". Do they have noise restrictions at all? Love your content btw, quite new to your channel and love the variety of cars ( especially all the fords ) and mint taste in background music 👌 imo i realise youre probably still ironing the creases in editing I'd turn the music down just alil but I have sensory issues so that's just me. I'll be fine I just play with the volume but definitely head bang 😂🤘

Never heard a good story out of it, and the level of Bogan-isum is off the charts, not for me at all, I don't understand abusing a car like those guys do, it's not fun or cool or anything .... just plain dumb!! I've watched a few recent YT videos from it and it looked like a real sh!t show, defiantly won't be going to one ... if it lasts that long? If your after a chilled family day, Summernats is definitely not for you. It’s one weekend a year for the loose car enthusiasts and always has and should be.
My daughter and I go every year and there are certain areas that we avoid. Mainly for her safety and because I don't get the way some behave. For me it has always been about the cars.
fair enough. it's not for everyone. we parked up around 4pm Saturday as it was getting rowdy, and being dressed as an american trooper doesn't sit well with a lot when they're drunk haha. but no one did anything untoward to the car or anything. left around 6 and headed to Braddon. staying offsite instead of camping helps to give a little bit of downtime helps!

You two are a great team and Mark a true gentleman for staying cool with the problems and just getting on with it (on camera anyway) good on you guys👍 Years ago in the early 80s I took my small block HK Monaro (same colour as your Torana) to the street machine nationals in Mildura, the police read the riot act and forced everyone off the road within 15 mins or be arrested so there were still a hell of a lot of wankers around then too but we had a good time just the same, take care cheers Brett

saw yas a couple times over the weekend and taking photos of the tough little torana in canberra, it definately has got less organised and more rowdy as the years have gone on, my mate entered his r34 skyline this year as we go down every year and sometimes it was 2+ hours to get inside nats, was a nightmare, too many basic cars entered and not enough organisation.
@@aedsy yeah mate, that’s what I said right at the start of the video… this was our first Summernats. I’m aware it’s tamer compared to what it used too be, which I also stated in the video. Doesn’t mean that it’s not still rowdy nowadays… plus, I heard from many sources that this year was worse than most recent years. Regardless, this is just my experience on the event..
@aedsy been going for 12years now, im talking more about the fact it wasn't just enjoying burnouts like the old days, it's turned into Alcohol fuelled violence, I reckon I saw 4 punch ups in the 4days we were there, less about the cars and more about the heads attending

Each January, the Elvis festival in Parkes, NSW is on for about four days. Not primarily car focused, but the theme is everything 50's to 70's:- Elvis, music, fashion and a classic car, motorbike and truck display.
Maybe give it a try.

I have not done the Nats in shitberra but have watched a lot of youtube vids and although i enjoy some stuff you can tell it is overwhelmed with Bogan nites and bogan antics .
I know there is a minority that stuff these things up which is a fact of life , Id rather not be in that sort environment thankyou .

I know it's a long way away from you, but Kandos is one of my all time favourite events, it's such a laid back event, the atmosphere is so cool, it feels more like a get together with all your mates (even if you don't know anyone there) everyone is happy to talk to you and you get to see a bit of everything, not just LS powered junk all the time.

100% agree mate. I went to summernats 15 plus years ago and while I loved it I hated the cars being man handled by drunk wankers that have no respect for others.
Definitely keen to go to redcentre nats. Would be cool to get a contingent of your subscribers together and all head up and put on a show.

I went for the first time this year to. Loose would be an understatement. These bananas thought once they were inside the gates they could do whatever they like. Getting your sticker ripped as you got booted and filmed by the masses seemed to be a lot of peoples goals. I left most nights by 6 and headed to Braddon for the fringe festival.

I dunno if I'd go again, I went on a buddy pass and was crewing a mate's car in the elite hall so didn't get much of a chance to walk around and the chance I did kinda stuck to the main sections.
Glad Andrea had fun, but yeah I don't think I'd take the wife. She doesn't have much interest in summernats anyway.

I’m with you Mark. My car was parked on the oval most of the day so I am not sure I will bother entering again. Luckily I am from Canberra so it doesn’t cost me too much time and money and I can go home when I have had enough.
2700 entrant cars and that many spectators is in my opinion too many. An hour for a lap of the cruise route (2.2km) is ridiculous (all while being abused for not doing a skid) as is 40mins in a queue to get in each morning unless you got there before 9am.
I love parts of the event but not sure they are enough for me to keep paying entrant fees. I’ll probably just go as a spectator in future years.
I’m glad Andy didn’t cop too much, avoiding certain parts of the event after about 3pm (used to be 6pm) is my advice to friends, particularly females - that sucks but is sensible.
I've been to a number of summernats and while it was very feral back in the day, Summernats 35 was very crowded with Saturday being sold out. You just have to pick your moments to go cruising. Shame you guys won't go back. I was looking for your Torri one the cruise route.
Don't forget to get over here to WA and checkout Motorvation as well.

Yeah I had a mate go this year and he was shocked at the behaviour of some of the guys he was actually standing there when the guy reached out and hit the throttle on that blown Holden he said the guy was bashed and ran away it should have never happened
If I had one question, what is camping like? I'm introverted like yourself and would love to camp if I ever come over from W.A but worried it will just be rowdy pissed flogs partying all night long whilst I'm trying to " recharge my social batteries ". Do they have noise restrictions at all?

I, for the very reasons you've mentioned, have never been to Summernats. Never heard a good story out of it, and the level of Bogan-isum is off the charts, not for me at all, I don't understand abusing a car like those guys do, it's not fun or cool or anything .... just plain dumb!! I've watched a few recent YT videos from it and it looked like a real sh!t show, defiantly won't be going to one ... if it lasts that long? If your after a chilled family day, Summernats is definitely not for you. It’s one weekend a year for the loose car enthusiasts and always has and should be.
My daughter and I go every year and there are certain areas that we avoid. Mainly for her safety and because I don't get the way some behave. For me it has always been about the cars.
90% of the event is enjoyable. park it up by mid Saturday arvo and you'll avoid the negatives.
Pretty much what we did, but was more like noon.. still too far too go for what we seen in our books
fair enough. it's not for everyone. we parked up around 4pm Saturday as it was getting rowdy, and being dressed as an american trooper doesn't sit well with a lot when they're drunk haha. but no one did anything untoward to the car or anything. left around 6 and headed to Braddon. staying offsite instead of camping helps to give a little bit of downtime helps!

Years ago in the early 80s I took my small block HK Monaro (same colour as your Torana) to the street machine nationals in Mildura, the police read the riot act and forced everyone off the road within 15 mins or be arrested so there were still a hell of a lot of wankers around then too but we had a good time just the same, take care cheers Brett

hey guys i have seen a few ideos on summernats and its the drunken yobbos that ruin it from what i saw there where big screen saying no burnouts yet these people where egg dudes on to do burnouts , why cant adelaide hold its own kind of summernat i remember years ago attending gazzanats at adelaide internatational and it was trouble free
saw yas a couple times over the weekend and taking photos of the tough little torana in canberra, it definately has got less organised and more rowdy as the years have gone on, my mate entered his r34 skyline this year as we go down every year and sometimes it was 2+ hours to get inside nats, was a nightmare, too many basic cars entered and not enough organisation.
Yeah we were shocked, no cunt knew what was going on. No signage, rules changed from one minute too the next. Was a shit show
