My UA-cam Members saw this video over 3 months ago. The Disco Pop EBX is not included in this video since it came out last week.
Americana, Session player and sixties works for me.
The acoustic.
Thanks for this vid..perfect timing. And you just saved me some time searching for a sound..🤛
Awesome!!
Great comparison video, thanks for making this to help evaluate all the EBX options. Had my eye on the Americana EBX for a while, so this was a good way to compare that vs the other options.
Great to hear!
Hofner Bass has such a cool fat tone. Love it
Oh yeah!
This was a great video idea. Thank you. This is the one Toontrack product that I've struggled to justify the need for an expansion pack with.
I don't think this video changed that for me exactly, but I certainly have a much improved idea of which ones I would get now if that bug ever does bite.
Thanks for the feedback, Derek!
I use the "Drum and Keys" and "Audio Tracker" features of EZBass. I find that I can place it between EZD3 and EZK2 in either direction and get some interesting results.
Maybe an idea for Shawn and a video or live stream at some pont at some point.
I don't much use EZB but for these features. Expansion pack, hmmm.
Although the current video in this thread reminds me that one reason that I bought EZB was for practicing. Maybe to play a bass following along with the graphic as it loops a groove. Again, is an expansion pack needed?
When I get a chance this weekend maybe I want to see if I can pair up EZ Mix with EZB easily enough in a DAW. Its a bit of a "hack" but, hey $30 is easier than $89.
When they go on sale, yup EZB2 expansion will likely become a new addition, but in the meanwhile you have a good point.
Debating toing an Audio Tracker Expert mode for metal month. As for the Drums and Keys, I need to play with it more before presenting.
Very interesting video. I really like the Classic Rock bass which I already own but even though I’m not into heavy metal the basses sounded good.
Most of their products are versatile, IMO.
This video is a timesaver . i always used the americana by default , but after listning ( eyes closed ) i must say that i'm charmed by the sound of the Progressive Metal bass .
Thank you for this video sir !
The process is fun. I’m making a few more of these.
I love a good (or, in my case, “semi-capable” blues jam haha!) and I need this EBX. It’s worth it just for the upright, but they all sound great! Thanks, man.
Awesome, great to hear Scott!
Doing the eyes closed and choosing without the marketing is a great suggestion for an exercise in perception. See what happens. For me the lesson is "let it go".
There are some sounds here that clearly might not fly in Church or Weddings (until last call), but for the most part, the beauty of this experiment is to notice how an opinion can change between isolation then how something can work in the context of a mix.
Part of the fun with Toontrack products for me has been how easy it is to swap stuff out. I find can put gospel into doom with great satisfaction. In EZD3, big sounding drums over soft drones, Jazz drums under Djent chaos. Contrast is are our friend.
Totally, Steven. If I close my eye I can only guess a few of them. It's really a fun and unbiased test!
Session Player's DI sounds a bit like pulling a thick washing line stretched on a plank. Let's say it has its own unique character. Great comparison as always; thank you. I'm considering buying the Metal EBX and using it with acoustic instruments in a song that has nothing to do with metal, but rather soft rock/ballad/country type. The other one I'm considering is Eighties. Both have slap articulations and 5 strings, which I need to use a bit. Do you think the Metal EBX can be used for such types of music? Its DI output sounds great to my ears, but I'm hesitating.
I do think Metal is worth for it's DI and the fact it can tune lower than any other product natively. Is that worth $90 for you... hard to say. If you're actually playing metal, i think so.
@@ShootieSchool I actually don't do metal at all. I was just comparing the clean DI outputs in a kind of blind test (I was watching your videos with my eyes closed) and found that I like how Metal EBX sounds - nice rounded sound, not harsh, not too bright, deep. If Americana had 5 strings and slap articulations, then I would take it. Metal seemed like a good alternative. I wouldn't use the inbuilt FX at all, but rather Guitar Rig or Amplitude to shape the sound further. Do you think this makes sense? Is it feasible?
@@seventhtower I can't advise you. But I will say the majority of people who ask me what to buy aren't thinking this far ahead so you'll probably make use of it. One note about Eighties since you were considering, the synth it comes with is really cool IMO, and it's a full extra library for the same price.
@@ShootieSchool Cheers mate. You're absolutely right, this extra synth lib makes it extra attractive.
@@seventhtower It does. Enjoy!
which ezbass expansion is best for progressive metal?
Too subjective of a question, but they do have am EBX just for it. www.toontrack.com/product/progressive-metal-ebx/
