Getting Ready for Toddler and Preschool Open House

Note: This video audience is set for 18+ ONLY and not intended for children, but instead as an instructional resource for early childhood educators.

Our preschool open house happens a week before school starts. It is an hour long and the parents/caregivers and students are invited. They are given time to get to know the classroom and each other, and then I share some highlights with them, such as: arrivals and departures information, potty training/using the toilet, clothing (washable clothes since we do lots of hands-on activities!), extra set of clothing that we keep in their cubbies, special events and birthdays. Offering an open house before school starts helps the children feel more secure with our classroom surroundings, because it is not brand-new when they arrive for the first day of school. I also use this time to walk around and talk with each of them, too!
