I have lived in Muskegon all my 64 years. Can see Muskegon Lake from my house. Just a little bit of it but I can see the blue water. Been going in and out of that channel many many times. As a small kid going out fishing with my dad. In my 40's and 50's on my brothers go fast boat.
Hi Lee! You live in a very nice part of the USA! How nice that you can see the lake from your house. It’s great that over the years you’ve been able to get out on the water with your dad and brothers. Happy boating and thanks for watching!😎
I somehow stumbled on your video heading into Montreal. I have lived in Montreal for the past 7 years, but was born and raised in Muskegon. Kinda crazy.
I hope you were able to see the block house, the Charles Hackley park, and His home, I've lived in Muskegon my whole life, I wouldn't want to live any where else.
Hi Diane, we enjoyed our visit to Muskegon and we did walk right through Hackley Park! It’s refreshing to hear from someone who is passionate about their hometown! Thanks for watching😎
Hi Patrick, we had such good weather for travel, we wanted to take advantage of it, especially considering Lake Michigan can be unforgiving! Thanks for watching!😎
Great footage of a superb area of Michigan. Looks like the inland lake was the place to be during the windy days. Had never seen sail foiling before but seems like an enjoyable time when you know what your doing. Nice clean looking city open to visitors. Enjoy
Beautiful beach. The breakwater from the lake to the channel was like from the ocean to the bay! Amazing. As always, if I where a young man I would love to try kite surfing! Stay safe!
Thanks for your comment Frank! We are so thankful to have safe harbors along Lake Michigan to escape the swell and waves. The breakwater really does it’s job! You might be surprised that many of those kite surfers had white hair! 😎
Thanks for watching T Mac! While at anchor for a few days, we were able to get a few tasks done… even something as simple as cleaning the boat, laundry etc.😎
Enjoyed the video! As a child we would boat at the other end of the Muskegon River (at Houghton Lake). I assume you would dinghy ashore? Did you have any trouble finding places to tie up the dinghy ashore? Did you ever find Muskegon Lake too rough for the dinghy?
Hi Patrick and thanks for your questions. Yes when at anchor, we dinghy ashore. It’s not always easy finding a safe place to leave your dinghy but we did find a few on Muskegon Lake. On windier days, it was pretty choppy in the dinghy, but that didn’t stop us exploring!😎
Wish you had chosen Traverse City for your R&R break -- would have added mileage onto your journey, but it has SO MUCH to do and see...Maybe next Loop 🙂
Hi Guys, great video! It seems that you are anchoring vs docking at a marina. Just learning about boating so apologies if this is a silly question, but wouldn't you have to dock and get shore power more frequently?
Hi Greg, great question about powering a boat! 😎 We are able to anchor a long time because we have solar power. Check out our video on solar: ua-cam.com/video/m1YQJ5CsuHU/v-deo.html
Traveling by boat might look cool. However, Muskegon is a dump. As a 30+ year resident, they invest in the wrong things. If they have a good thing going (some kind of festival or event) they'll screw it up and destroy it. These are some of the reasons I'm moving. The best parts of Michigan are up north. Anything north of Ludington is nice-ish. I used to love this state.
Hi Erik, sorry to hear you are unhappy in Muskegon. You would know best since you’ve lived there 30+ years. We enjoyed Muskegon Lake and when we did go ashore, we noticed there were good parts and more run down parts. Cities do go through times of change. We hope you find a new place to call home. Thanks for watching this episode.😎
Nothing but dollar stores and weed shops. No good restaurants. Nothing to do here. Roads are 1 step above the Old West. How is it NOT a dump? I would kill to leave this place.
Good grief….love watching your “old adventure”! 😁
It was a fantastic adventure! Glad you’re enjoying it.😊

I enjoy following along with you on Navionics Chart Viewer and Google Maps. I can usually find your anchorages!
Glad to hear it John! Thanks for your comment and for watching! 😎
Great clips of the kite surfers! So very interesting to see the breakwater in action.
Thanks for your comment Elizabeth! Those kite surfers were very talented and the breakwater really does it’s job!😎
😢 I should go there because I am in michigan and that's literally not that far
If you’re already in Michigan, then Muskegon would be a short trip. Thanks for watching!😎

You guys are getting very good at this. We are a few years out but watching your vlog makes us want to drop everything and go.
Thanks for your comment! YOLO!😎

Thanks for your comment kriegner! We wish we could have stopped at every port… maybe another time! Thanks for watching!😎
Looking forward to moving out of Muskegon next year 😊
Muskegon is an interesting place to visit by boat. I’m sure it’s a different experience living there. Thanks for watching.😎

At what knot speed do you get your best MPG ? Thanks .
Good question Jerry! Our Yanmar engine is happiest at 7.5-8.0 knots but can vary depending on current, wind, etc. Thanks for watching!😎
@@staycool123 and that is where you get the 3 point something mpg you messaged me about earlier ?
Yes that’s our current estimate. It will become more accurate the father along we get.
