Imagine the Wolverine with a picture of Jean meme, but it’s Villaintheory and a picture of Repurpose instead. Fun draft! I feel like there’s so many good protection cards that it’s hard to narrow it down.
After you do the Justice Cards draft, I’d love to see heroes you would draft for the specific aspects. (Best protection heroes, best aggression heroes, etc.)
Villian Theory clutches this victory for me. Both had really solid picks, and I do love repurpose decks, but Night Nurse, Jocasta, Armor and Ever Vigilant are all just so good, even though 3 of those cards are circumstantial. Jocasta I only run when I have a great hero defense card, and the other two are trait locked. However, all three are almost auto-includes for me if they hit those criteria. Armored vest is also solid, but I do often play protection never intending to defend, so not an auto-include. Repurpose and Energy Barrier are amazing and a ton of fun. I do run unflappable quite a bit, and card draw is excellent, but can be hard to hit against some expert villians. Same with not today. Daredevil is super solid, but not an auto-include.
I'm giving this one to VillainTheory, because all the cards on his list are ones I use frequently. I know Repurpose is good, it's just not giving me the fun payout. Maybe I need to try it more. I'm happy to see Armored Vest on the list. It's easily the +1 stat card I use the most. And in other news, Nightcrawler has finally arrived at the distributor my LFGS uses. So just another 1-2 weeks... unless he gets lost in the pre-Christmas shuffle.
Interestingly we all have different perspectives. I don't play the perfect protection archetype, so to me the best 5 protection cards are: - Ever Vigilant (turbo thwart booster +ready) - What doesn't kill me (healing +ready) - Iron Fist (stun is the best defense) - Black Widow (bye Shadow of the Past, Advance, etc.) - Silk (same as above)
I’m gonna vote for Nelson because he’s somehow the only person who picked an actual defense card in the protection aspect??? And as the tenth pick too??? Villain’s cards are good to be sure, night nurse, armored vest, and Jocasta go in a lot of decks, but frankly I’m baffled!
I think Nelson wins this round with both Repurpose/Energy Barrier for that whole archetype and Unflappable/Not Today for perfect defense. Though The Night Nurse is my #1!
Personally I disagree on both fifth pick...so noone wins! Thanks for these kind of draft video, they're always fun (for the record I was sure Nelson pick Repurpose after VT didn't!)
Nelson gets my vote this time, mainly because of Daredevil and the Unflappable/Not Today combo. Why no discussion of Never Back Down? In lower player count games a block + stun is better than a block + ready.
I think that’s only true if you ignore multiplayer. Status cards are always good but they lose effectiveness each player added. In multi I’d probably rather see Ronin, Goldballs, She-Hulk, or even Beta Ray Bill hit the table.
@@jongahimer5338 No doubt. I just like the math on Iron Fist. Especially the ability to still deal damage even through tough. He pulls a lot of weight and a welcome sight in a protection hand full of defense events but it’s the hero turn.
Part of it is I mainly play Expert mode and Steady and Stalwart is so common these days that it really starts to limit where Iron Fist is good. Where he can stun, he's still incredible. But where he can't stun, I wouldn't choose to take him whatsoever. And that divide just ruled him out for me.
This one is VT has solid but non flashy cards. Nelson got 2 archetype defining card but Daredevil is a vanilla 2 cost 2 thw ally. Good yes, but not good enough, especially considering all the amazing cards not picked. And im sorry, but Not Today has no business being in over Desperate Defense. VT for me, but its close.
Name another 2 cost 2 THW ally that isn't trait locked, can survive their THW, and then block for you. I'll wait.... There's one in Justice (Eros), one in leadership (Maria), and that's it.
@@jonahg3713 Never said it was bad, there are just other cards that I play more that are cornerstones of decks. And for a closer ally comparison, I play Polaris far more.
Is not today better than desperate defense, I don't know about that. I actually think Polaris is better than Armor, cause you can put the tough on anyone and activate her the turn she comes into play. Whereas Armor doesn't do anything the turn she comes into play.
No Desperate Defense? No Flow Like Water? No Defiance? No Taunt? Do you guys even play Protection?! Also, how exactly does Daredevil work? I never include him in decks because he makes my brain hurt trying to figure out the timing.
Haha I think Desperate Defense could have made the list - when I am drafting I am shooting to pick cards that can be played well by a lot of heroes. Defiance and Taunt are pretty specialized in my opinion. Flow like water is interesting and I really like the card, but recently I have not been able to capitalize on it. Daredevil is better when you do not use his ability, but after damage is placed on him, if he survives, you can move a damage back to the attacking enemy!
A bit like Nelson, I think Taunt is very hero-specific. Taunt itself isn't that amazing - it's the combos you can do with it which are generally from hero cards (like Spider-Man drawing extra cards, or Drax getting counters, etc). Defiance and Desperate Defense I really like, probably my two favourite defense events, but I don't think they individually out-value any of my picks. If I was set up with Unflappable, Hard to Ignore etc, not only in my deck but on the board, then it might be another discussion over say Ever Vigilant. As for Flow Like Water, I don't love it. It has good long-term potential but very low immediate impact. It has its place and it can form some really fun decks but it wasn't going to make my personal top 5 any time soon. The long story short is that I find defense-event oriented Protection largely inconsistent and probably my least favourite way to play the aspect. Which is slightly unfortunate as it forms most of the aspect, but it is what it is for me and my taste in decks.

This is accurate

Can't believe VillainTheory didn't choose Repurpose as his number 1 pick. What a fumble.
I play night nurse, but I mulligan for unflappable.
So many really good cards not even picked. A lot of great green cards to choose from. A lot depends on your build/play style.
Villian Theory clutches this victory for me.

Great draft once again guys! Overall I think VillainTheory won this time around, but it was very close! :)

The disrespect to Preemptive Strike is real.
Probably my most played green card.

Honestly I think Iron Fist is the second best ally in the game behind Nick so I’m really surprised ya’ll didn’t pick him at all.

You both made a mistake. Both of you picked allies other than Multiple Man.

@@NelsonAllOverCardsDoes “moving a damage” work like black Panthers upgrade? You essentially heal dare devil 1 and then deal 1?
@@jongahimer5338 yep!
Nerves of Steel is a really underrated card. Pays for Not Today, Desperate Defense, Preemptive Strike, Jump Flip (w/ the kicker), etc.
