Best Qoute of aTurkeyhunter I v’e ever heard. “ I’m going too run the fun right out of this. I have definitely been there before. Keep doing what Your doing. From one Turkey hunter too another. You have My respect and admiration🎩
Dave I have hunted Fl all my life and it is getting worse every year. More and more people in the woods that weren’t raised to be sportsman like and this includes all hunting.
My season to date! It’s been tuff and now it’s getting brutally hot! A lot of folks here think they own the spots they find and when somebody gets there before em they get their panties in a wad! What WMA were you on that had rain. At 3Lakes its been dry seems like forever!
Hunting public land is tough, and I applaud you guys. Courtesy and etiquette and sportsmanship are becoming things of the past. I cannot say that I wouldn't be like those guys you've encountered the past several days, had it not been for being taught better by my dad. I remember once, us making a hell of a track back through the NF, hearing this gobbler hammering...and when we get there, close to where we wanted to set up, the bird still gobbling hard, the unmistakable sound of an old lynch box call working the gobbler. Being young, and ignorant, I tell my dad that he's a better caller than this guy, and tried to convince him to throw our hat in the ring. Unwavering, my dad says "no, we're gonna sit here and listen to the show. He beat us to it, and we're gonna let him have it". He went on to explain etiquette and courtesy in the woods. The thing I'll never forget, he said "it's takes a good hunter to call a turkey off another hunter, but it takes a better man to let the other hunter have it." Long story short, the guy killed the gobbler and my dad and I went on down and talked to the guy, and congratulated him and he walked out with us, and we gave him a ride to his vehicle and we made a friend for life. Neither of us had ever met him before. I met him almost 30 years ago, and I still hunt with him a time or two every spring and we've had some super hunts together.
Haha....my buddy and I was just talking about how hot Jennifer Anniston is (even being in her 50's) and she has to have a few screws loose since she can't keep a guy around. Hate to see your struggles, guess you will have to book one of those private ranches that drive you around on a buggy next year....lol
Dave I'll never get tired of listening to you talk about the unwritten rules of turkey hunting: being respectful and honoring another turkey hunters set and first come rules of public land hunting. People don't understand that just because you pop a tent up that that's your claim on the spot, this ain't deer hunting. There's a reason to have multiple birds/areas to go to. If somebody beats you there, be respectful go to another spot. This was a great example of how its done Thank You Dave for showing how it's supposed to be done. I'd hunt with you any day and if i ever bump into you in the turkey woods, you better believe I'mma do it right.
I see you switching it up there young man ... Who makes the trumpet you were running ?? I been on a trumpet kick for the last 3 yrs , if I learn how to run one I might make a turkey hunter ...lol I agree sometimes it looks like all we can do is win when the road to success is long and winding . I can say public land here in Central GA has been respectful so far this year. ( 1 1/2 weeks in. ) ive been on a draw hunt and haven't had any problems but have had to sit out on a Gobbler or 2 while someone else was working him. ,but believe me I was in reconnaissance mode while I was listening . Safe travels and have a good spring !
Been there Dave. Matter of fact first 3 days past weekend birds did the same thing. Then day 4 birds gobbling everywhere and Kasey got her first Florida bird for this season.
I hunt public all the time. I usually do a good job of avoiding other guys. Man my biggest struggle often times is seeing a vehicle parked at a certain area and not knowing where that hunter is. There are ridge systems that span literal miles but man I hate parking anywhere there's another vehicle. I usually just head the other way if I even hear calling.
Dave don't let get down .I been there .great job walking away it hard but just haft tip your hat move on. Probably got sleep in my truck this Saturday. Lol
Public opportunities can be great in most places, but FL is too much sugar for a dime. Got my public Osceolas some time back. Not sure I’ll try again. Too much rudeness. Wishing you the best!
Between you/Shane Simpson/The Hunting Public/Catman Outdoors (my favorite hunting channels), I think I enjoy the failure videos as much as when you dump heads in the dirt. As just an average hunter with a lot of persistence, I fail far more than I succeed. Its good to see the guys I watch go on turkey serial killing sprees each spring are also human.
Hey dave do you cut a knick in your 2nd reed or anything to get the rasp out of your ghost cut? I just cant get that kinda rasp out of my ghost cuts I make. Good luck brother!
"started lookin like lake pickle" LOL Love all the effort you put in, Dave. the bug bit me a few years back and I can't get enough of it. I love deer hunting and duck hunting and pheasant hunting, but there's something about hearing that gobble that really gets to me
I have not done a lot of traveling and hunting public land. I have hunted a couple of military bases and Corps of Engineers land and I was always to respectful or I guess you could say I coward down to any hunters around me. If I encountered half the disrespectful hunters that you have, I would have most likely went back to my vehicle and we can’t kill them there!! I luv the way you guys persevere and just keep after them. It takes some nerve that I haven’t got to hunt that close to other people, to many people trigger happy... be safe brother and keep pumping out these videos. I would rather watch you guys and THP in real situations than others filming on private $$$ hunts...Not knocking the guided private hunts but they generally don’t show the struggles that a lot of us average hunters have. I have been fortunate to have private lands to hunt myself and it is a struggle sometimes itself but if we didn’t work for it we wouldn’t want it!! I’m just rattling on now. Anyways, you guys ever in Midd TN hollar and I got some good land that can be challenging that y’all are welcome to. Good Luck and be safe guys!!
Dave, we love the fact that your hunts are real, and most of the times that means no bird. Sorry for the hunters you're running into, from those of us that hunt public land in north Florida, we apologize for their behavior. You certainly put all your effort into it and wish you luck in the next state.
I have a theory Dave on maybe why your seeing so many people. I think alot of people are flocking south to hunt early. I usually hunt 3 to 4 states per year in the mid Atlantic region and i am hearing rumors that with travel restrictions getting tight over covid 19 it may be hard to get from state to state.
Dave, you are a hardcore turkey hunter. This is the way I hunted before I had kids. I'm ready for them to be big enough to go with me! Keep it up, you will slay one soon no doubt!
Dave I hate to tell you this but apparently a side effect of COVID-19 is that everybody that ever thought about going turkey hunting goes turkey hunting. I hunt private land in Alabama and I have never had a poacher until this year. 3 separate pairs. I guess they can’t work so they try turkey hunting.
As always, great video. I wish you could get some of the jerks on camera that think they own the public land. It would be great for their wives, family, and friends get to see them in action.. thanks Dave
Awesome video dave. Footage of that owl hooting wasn’t something you’d ever hear in a calling contest! And your ending statement was dead on. We have such a celebration when we harvest a bird, because more times than not, we leave the woods empty handed. At least in my experience lol. Still enjoy every minute we get of our favorite time of year though.
Was that one of Catman's turkey wing calls you were using? Rough hunting on the public land for you for sure. I'm hoping to get a season this year because it might get shut down due to the virus.
You're a good man Dave! You took the good the bad and the ugly in stride. Way to keep at it. It's why we call it hunting and not shopping. Can't just pick one off the shelf and go home although it seems like you're fighting off hunters like folks fighting for toilet paper. Says a lot about our culture. Keep at it and thanks for doing what you do!!
Great video as usual Dave. 15.5 hours is a heck of an effort. Even though you didn't get a Turkey I enjoyed the video because that's reality. Normally all the videos I watch end up with celebrating a kill and from my 40 years experience chasing these long beards there are a whole lot more days walking back to the truck with nothing but my shotgun on my shoulder. And I for one don't mind listening to you whine about people you encounter on public land these days. Not all but most people you run across on public land are rude as hell and very disrespectful of other hunters. It's bad enough that we only get 56 days a year to Turkey hunt in Georgia but we get coronavirus pandemic during Turkey season. Since I'm retired I hunt during the week to avoid most of the jerks but now they're all off from work and decided to take up Turkey hunting this year. Well that's enough venting. Keep the great videos coming and good luck with the rest of your season.
Likely most if not all the disrespectful people you are encountering are not Floridians. They flock here in hopes of taking an Osceola. Our wonderful state has no restrictions on out of state tags. Hopefully that will change next year. I've never seen it this bad. Third year in a row I couldn't get a tag in my home state of over 40 years.
Ladies!? What happened to your ole lady killing machine!? I've had years like that here in Md where it just seemed you were dealt cards from a short deck. Sadly respect in the public lands for the most part is a museum piece.... Keep after it!
So I will ask the unpopular question. Someone has to be that guy. So you and THP and Catman and all the youtube hunters are highlighting south Florida, Mississippi, Alabama early season and then it’s easy tags and great late season public land In Wisconsin, Maine, and insert state. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to often figure out at least the general areas you guys are hunting. After a bit folks looking in say, hey bud I can do that too. Then you go back next year and your favorite public lands are crawling with extra folks? Don’t get me wrong, you produce great entertainment, but could it be you are becoming a victim of your own doing? Not being a smarty. I’m truly interested if there’s something to it in your opinion?
No we never get tired of hearing you complain what is wrong with people I just don’t understand if I come in on someone and I came from an opposite side I’m sorry it happens but I have never walked past someone I just don’t even understand how someone could even think that’s ethical it’s public land we can all enjoy it but you snooze you lose I am glad I have never had that happen to me on the public land I hunt my hats off to you
People are so selfish when it comes to public land hunting..... takes the fun out of it. I fun a few remote Arkansas public land a little bit but have been blessed with permission to hunt some really nice large tracts of private land!
It’s not my imagination then about Florida having rude hunters!... I’m seeing treestands on every wma I’ve been on this year because guys think they own the place! It’s public land guys, leave it better than you found it and treat others as you want to be treated!.....It’s been tough this year for my group as well, birds are quiet this year.
You are a true sportsman for giving room to hunter. That nerd who said it public lands and I always hunted here......sorry butthead.... Where did proper sportsmanship go
That's hunting. Humbling experience even for the pro's. It's the love of the Gobble. Blessings to get to go hunting. If the beard is itching, use beard oil.
Hey Dave, I don't mean this as an attack on you or any of the others out there, but with all of the content being pushed (UA-cam, Tweeter, Instagram, Facebook, etc..) by so many folks about recreating on public land, particularly hunting, we would be foolish to think that this publicity would not perpetuate conflict by promoting the "awesomeness" that our public lands provide. The point is legit, the lands are public and they belong to all of us, but the amount of use has continued to increase and part of this increase is a result of productions like the Pinhoti Project. Again, not really trying to place blame with this comment(I love your stuff and lots of productions from others), but just pointing out a reality that comes with increased publicity. Every time something comes out about my home state I cringe. Best of luck out there and all of us need to take responsibility for good sportsmanship and respect for others when afield and in life as a whole.
I completely agree. Which is why I think content such as that above needs to be shared as well. I don't see many of these type conflicts shared with viewers because they're the less attractive side of hunting public lands. It's not all peachy. BUT, I believe it is extremely important to share and discuss these type topics in an open forum. I do believe the UA-cam platform as well as others is creating more public land hunters and I couldn't be more excited about it. I just want to do my part to make sure that if the PINHOTI PROJECT is responsible for creating those hunters it will be ethical and respectful new hunters. There is plenty of public ground to go around - as long as everyone practices the GOLDEN RULE.
@@pinhotiproject I echo your thoughts, we need people to be invested and have a connection to our public lands or else we will not have a meaningful voice for the conservation and long term good of the resource. Anyhow, wanted to again stress that I really do enjoy your work (you, the THP and BRO crew are what is good about the industry). I was supposed to have been down in your neck of the woods (kind of, Troy AL) two weeks ago, but the Covid blew that plan up. Missing that early season fix, trying to patiently wait out an April 15th opener on this end. Cheers
Dave. I no How. You. Feel about other hunters. I got on 4 year old. Gobbler Sunday ate 10 in morning on lake Russell and run Him. For 4 or 5 hours and sit up 20. Times and finally got. Him to come in That. Big. Dog had 11. Hen And. I. Know. He wood come just so far and. Take look. He step out and. Dam. Big. Dog. At lest 12 inch Beard and. He needs to come 10 more. Yards. And. He’s Dead He’s little to for he brakes. Takes 3 steps and he seen something to he’s left and turnaround and. He’s gone. Dam it boy two hunters. Start. Calling. I so dam. 😡. So. I no How you. Feel. But what can you. Do
Props to your turkey killing skills and popularity. I’m sure it is very affirming to have lots of followers. Here’s the thing ;you have created an army of run and gun newbie hunters who are in the woods dashing around at flydown ruining hunts on public land for hunters that have paid their dues and spent weeks scouting so they can get in a good hunt for their spouse, kids, grandchildren etc. what do you all do with all that turkey meat anyhow?
Amen on the Golden Rule man! That's how I was raised !! You did right my good man!!!
Best Qoute of aTurkeyhunter I v’e ever heard. “ I’m going too run the fun right out of this. I have definitely been there before. Keep doing what Your doing. From one Turkey hunter too another. You have My respect and admiration🎩
You do it right.
Dave I have hunted Fl all my life and it is getting worse every year. More and more people in the woods that weren’t raised to be sportsman like and this includes all hunting.
There ain’t nothing better than a ole Tom sounding off at dawn but the barred owls catawaaa sure is also second to none !!!!! Agh whoooooooo aghhhh
Enjoyed this video. We need more turkey hunters like Dave that respect the golden rule
My season to date! It’s been tuff and now it’s getting brutally hot! A lot of folks here think they own the spots they find and when somebody gets there before em they get their panties in a wad! What WMA were you on that had rain. At 3Lakes its been dry seems like forever!
You and Courtney ok
Yes Sir. A little banged and bruised, but alive and well.
glad y’all ok I think I was down the road from y’all
Man you okay? A friend said you were involved in a fender bender.
Ha! It did a bit more than bend some fenders. But yes, we're going to make it.
Your owl hoot is perfect
Hunting public land is tough, and I applaud you guys. Courtesy and etiquette and sportsmanship are becoming things of the past. Jennifer Aniston might have some issues but I’d like to see how long she could stand me. Love your videos.

Thanks for the constant Florida public land reminder, you all can have it!
makes the times when you kill even more special!!
I adore how you help everyone else before you in the sport. That's legendary!!
Dave where’s Chubs!!?
I haven’t seen one banana muffin yet in the 2020 Pinhoti project!!
I live in Central FL. I hunt here as well. There's no shame. The hunt is hard in FL for all species. The hunt in FL truly makes you "A Hunter" ! :-)
I see you switching it up there young man ... Who makes the trumpet you were running ?? I been on a trumpet kick for the last 3 yrs , if I learn how to run one I might make a turkey hunter ...lol

Very cool video. You sure put a lot of effort into it. Enjoy watching your hunts !👍✌
What mouth call are you using?
I hunt public all the time. I usually do a good job of avoiding other guys. Man my biggest struggle often times is seeing a vehicle parked at a certain area and not knowing where that hunter is. Jennifer Aniston. Of all the people I never would have guessed you to mention, she'd make the list. 😀
Stay safe out there Dave
Dave don't let get down .I been there .great job walking away it hard but just haft tip your hat move on. Probably got sleep in my truck this Saturday. Lol
Great video. I love seeing how much you grind to try and beat the gobbler this own game. Keep it up, your perseverence inspires us all.
AWSOME!!
First year turkey hunter here, and new to OnX, any tips for locating turkeys on the maps? Land features and patterns? Anything is helpful..
Michael Wilson a lot of property lines aren’t exactly where onX shows them. Sometimes they can be 40-50 yards off from actual boundaries.
Another great video.
Your always about the truth.
The way it really is....
You should also check out Matt Dale’s videos he has some awesome educational turkey videos I’ve learned a lot
Hey dave do you cut a knick in your 2nd reed or anything to get the rasp out of your ghost cut? I just cant get that kinda rasp out of my ghost cuts I make. Good luck brother!
What kind of trumpet is that? Who made it?
Realistic hunt! I enjoyed your hunt more than those successful (staged) turkey hunt in Osceola.
"started lookin like lake pickle" LOL
Love all the effort you put in, Dave. the bug bit me a few years back and I can't get enough of it. I love deer hunting and duck hunting and pheasant hunting, but there's something about hearing that gobble that really gets to me

It's all about chasing those Longbeards and just hearing one Gobble to me!! Just keep HAMMERING and Best of luck rest of the season
Keep at it Dave! I just appreciate listening to you run a mouth call😉
Great content. I felt much the same at the end of last spring season. Can't wait to see where you go next.
Dang Dave, pretty good on that trumpet call, first time I've seen you use one.
Its worse than I've ever seen
As always, great video. I wish you could get some of the jerks on camera that think they own the public land. It would be great for their wives, family, and friends get to see them in action.. thanks Dave
Have the same issue here in Missouri
Zach Taylor really ? Never met a rude hunter or someone thinking they own the place during turkey season
I completely agree about Jennifer Aniston. Something ain’t right.
Good to see you, can’t wait to watch 🦃
Awesome video dave. Footage of that owl hooting wasn’t something you’d ever hear in a calling contest! And your ending statement was dead on. I’m so glad SC doesn’t have public turkey OOSERS
You gave it a great try Dave, Keep your spirits up. With your awesome calling, I cannot believe that a gobbler could resist that.
Dave, what's up with squirrel? He doesn't have the flu hopefully. You stay safe and thanks for the videos.
Enjoyed it as much or more than a kill! Looking forward to riding along for the rest of the season!!
Note to self. Don't hunt public in FLA
I’ve been there walking out
Defeated after killing myself for a week with nothing. Just to do it again the next time lol

Its definitely thrown a "kink" in us weekday hunters routines.
Man you hardly ever have that disrespect hunting here in the mid south. I moved here from California and hunters are way more respectful and nice.
Likely most if not all the disrespectful people you are encountering are not Floridians. They flock here in hopes of taking an Osceola. Our wonderful state has no restrictions on out of state tags. Dave people are getting out off control they try run over me this weekend .tell I go back old way if stuff keep up .getting ready tied of it .

We joined up today for a nice outing. It'll be available in a few episodes.
Tough days bud...I feel for ya...but it will wash out in the end for ya no worries! keep it up enjoy your videos
Part of it.
The aganey of defet we all been thare the one thing about it you dident here nobody shoot that can make you feel real good out da here

LMFAO! Snooze ya loose! Its PUBLIC! Should be in Mississippi or Bama! Bunch of Birds getting killed. I am bagged out. 3 in 4 days! Come on!
Great video Dave as usual, if we killed every time we went it wouldn’t be no fun.

Cheers
OMG! I was beginning to think you had the flu, be careful.

Aren’t you married?
That's like hitting a weak pop up to the catcher in foul territory after your brother cleaned the bases in front of you.
These people are ridiculous
"For any ladies that are watching", what about Courtney?
Calm down chief it was a joke.
What mouth call do you use?
